Many problems it has. The pins to fix the screen are not strong enough! So it's failed off easily! And when you want to open the arm rest, it pops out!
Had this exact same issue with mine. The screen works ok but the fitment is not good. Also seems that 4g connectivity doesn’t work, Even after spending an hour with an AT&T rep trying to figure it out.
I have been waiting for this product for years. My biggest complaint on other rear screens is the lack of airflow and able to adjust the vents. I purchased the basic rear screen model a while back and I may replace it with this one. Awesome
I've been using this screen for about 6 months now based on your great review. Just have one question regarding soft-/firmware updates; has anyone been able to receive an OTA update by now? To the best of my knowledge such updates have not been made available and I noticed that some functionality (such as the percentage power) have not been working properly due to some Tesla software updates of my Model Y.
I have few questions. 1.) Does the screen turn off properly when the car is off? I don't want the device draining my battery if I'm not using it? 2.) Do you think the game controller issue is simply a software update thing or you think we would have to wait for the 2025 version of this device? Does this essentially do everything that the official tesla versions do regarding their rear screens?
Appreciate your comment. The screen will turn off when the car is off every time as it connected to the power of the car. I’m not sure about game controller connection issue if it’s based on software update or not. I installed mine today, but i cannot get the bluetooth to work against the car either way. I get connection errors and i've spent a good hour to try. With the phones and other units, no problem. I also connected my phone to the display and got carplay... but the display will not connect to the car bluetooth which means no audio from the screen in the car speaker system.
Anyone get netflix to work on this unit? The one that comes with it keeps crashing. I tried to install a previous netflix build apk and it says “app not installed”. Keen to understand how I can get this working.
Ordered mine. I like the fact that this model kept Large HVAC vents and ability to adjust air flow vs many others have very small vents and no adjustability. I used your discount code. Ty.
I bought one and noticed it fits great with one caveat, I had issues opening the armrest initially. The other issue I have is getting the 4G to work - there is no way to get into the android settings to select network and setup the access point information for the cellular networking. I'll do the OTA update to see if that fixes it. Screen also doesn't go off when not in use. The manual is one sheet of paper with near zero instructions. I'm on the fence; I'd say wait until there is a better option. Oh! Airflow is decent. I did get one complaint about air but this particular kid passenger is a nitpicker
Ny there! I have a question. On my display if i”ll change the temperature, on the main screen it”s not changeing but the the actual command is sent. For ex. if the temp is at 23 and i”ll lower it at 17, on the main screen it remains at 23 but it the car it”s making cold. And if i’ll țap on the temperature”s main screen, it”s making 23 again and on the Back it”s showing 23 again. Thakns

I installed this Unit and OTA MCU update worked for me. It upgraded from 2023 Nov version to 2024 Jan version. Also system app update worked for me as well. Obviously you have to connect to wifi first in order for OTA to work The large vent really push good amount of Air and does the job which is Main function of rear hvac. One downside is if you change volume or temperature from this unit, it is not reflected to front screen with correct number.

Hello @shahvatsal2391986. Have you noticed any changes after update? Probbable new languages support in settings (Only English and Chinese in original system)? Have you first make MCU update and after that the system update?
@@dadstoyscars its under Menu (car symbol) and than all the way bottom under “info” , you will find MCU update and App update options.. Ensure to connect this device to wifi from Menu

You would have to select “Model Y rear vent bottom without OBD plug” option. Because RWD model Y don’t have rear OBD plug you would have to connect to front passenger side panel OBD plug instead. Thank you for watching! Please subscribe for future contents.🙏😃

@@dadstoyscars before the update, with the other screens, this bug wasnt present. when you turned on the rear seat heaters on the rear screen, it would instantly also change up front on the big screen to match.
it is very annoying to control volumn when i watching youtube. i have to go to home menu and change sound volumn and come back to youtube to play.. How do you change sound volumn while watching youtube? and rear heat system is not hot enough than control by main system. i asked those problems to the saler.. they will update ota.. but no idea when i can get it. hopefuly get a upgrade soon~
Hello, I have installed this same unit as you did in the video, however the unit is not talking to the car, not data or control of the ac unit or music. Any idea what may have happened or I need to do?

As with other displays I have asked the same question which seems to get missed. Does the display go to “sleep” or turn off after a set time so that it’s not lighting up the whole back seat if no one is there?
There is no timer to set for it to go to sleep. However you can manually put it on sleep mode which will show the clock face while it’s on sleep mode. Thank you for watching and your great support Todd!🙏😃
The last model he tested that had android 13 had a power button on the launcher that turns off the display, but its still on as it turns on instantly when you touch the screen. It doesnt have an auto off though, but you could go into the android settings and turn on display auto off, BUT if you did, once it turned off you couldnt turn it on because it acts like a phone and you would need to press a physical button which that didnt and there is no double tap screen to turn on, so that was a broken function. I'm sure you could do the same with this model and same issue. BUT he says you can put on a clock but that means backlit is still on and it would be annoyingly bright. The last screen as mentioned had the power button and completely turned off backlight black
@@moialder252 Thanks! I really hate that these don't take advantage of the rear seat sensor like the Linux version does. Even in dark mode, the screen is bright enough to be distracting at night when driving alone. I wish the reviewers of these (there are many) would convey this Teslasy and Hanshow to make these more intelligent. I don't want to have a hack (run some automation to turn display off) and then get to where it won't turn on like you said.
@@toddswire9581 if you find the android system display auto off feature, you likely will see it as "null" , as mentioned if you set it, it will work and turn off, but once off you cant turn it on again until the car restarts. BUT after that, you wont be able to disable it because "null" or off is no longer an option at least in android 13 version. Might be different with this android 12 but i dont know. So after that the only option is to factory reset it. So just adding this for those who want to experiment

I believe you pick the wrong option when you ordered it. Because Model Y standard range don’t have rear center console OBD connector so the display has to connect to front passenger side OBD port which is smaller 20 pin OBD port.
@@michelbru8178 please try to request 26 pin OBD connector wire from Teslasy for your display. Let them know that you received the wrong wire harness for your LR Model Y.

I got this unit and I don’t like it. It doesn’t clip into the center console nicely. The top pops off. If I open my center cosnsole the top part of the unit comes right off.
@@ruben619448 same thing g happened to me after couple days. I had to remove the display and took time to manage the wiring then make sure the display put back in place with all the locking clips well attached and no wires blocking it. Please try again. the thing is the top clips don’t have any locking clips. It’s just a straight piece of plastic. I clipped just the top in to see how it holds and it won’t hold at all. The handshow model has metal locking clips and the Tesla stock vent has locking clips molded into the plastic
@@ruben619448 They got back to me. Here is their response “It may be because the clip was removed when the original air outlet was removed. This 4g rear screen is installed using the original clips.”

@@MurdaT12 I’m not sure where you can get the SIM card. I think it’s best to ask your mobile carrier if you could add SIM card to your plan. You can copy music and movie file onto the display with thumb drive.

This one in the video can connect to your phone hotspot. I think what they meant was the display can’t become WiFi hotspot from its optional built in 4G internet. this looks like an updated version of a screen 2 versions ago. This is running android 12, the most recent before this one was android 13. Strange the website doesnt indicate what processor it if using too. I wonder if it is inferior and why they refuse to indicate it. This does have better front end/launcher it seems. The vent adjustment is a nice touch although last one was big enough to be adaquete it didnt have manual flaps to adjust direction. The last version could be found for $199, this "new" one is double the price, but not worth double the improvements (dare i say regression with older android and possibly inferior processor). You should have mentioned the bug in this that is still present from the last one where after holiday update, the rear seat heat setting changed in the rear screen will no longer appear on the front screen. Some other unanswered, will it auto off after idle and is there a setting for that. How can screen be powered off if dont want to be used. $400 vs $200 is not worth the price on a better launcher/gui and adjustable vent flaps. The previous one also came with 4G sim capability, and built in speaker. The silver/grey surround trim is subjective, as the previous one actually matches the silver trim around the center console for those who kept it stock up there. If this was $200 sure this might be better, but extra $200, even $150 with discount code, is a bit much

I wouldn’t worry about. Turns out that gasoline fumes are actually pretty combustible. And while electric vehicles can indeed catch fire, a quick Google search will show that electric cars are about 20 times less likely to do that than internal combustion vehicles. So I wouldn’t let that be the deciding factor.
