Drivers aren't distracted enough without putting a big infotainment screen on the dash(?) Touch screen- ughhhh. The only advances here are how quickly they will advance to the junkyard.
Were in the position were in because people are dumb and will pay no matter the cost. If nobody bought these overpriced vehicles they wouldn't cost so much.
@@marcoadamberger4456 A Suburban back in 1996 would cost $26k, and adjusted for inflation today, that would be around $47k, but new ones today easily cost 6 figures 😵
Isn't it disgusting how much they charge for a new truck or SUV now? I could never afford one and I really don't know anyone that could in this economy anyway. I especially would not pay that for a gas vehicle.
Being a GM Tech all i see is a royal ass load of recalls and module update reflashes. It pays almost 10 hours to replace the CAT/DPF part of the exhaust, and it takes damn near every minute of that time. Also when (not if) you start having issues that require anything more than a module reflash, be prepared to not have your brand new Tahoe for 6+ months due to most things on national back order. You can thank everyone who went on strike and just ended a couple weeks ago. Now if you can afford to have your vehicle w/o warranty i recommend doing an emissions system "update" in whoch eliminates a load of problems.
You are not a GM Tech, you are a redditor that hasn't touched grass. The LZ0 Duramax has the best emissions system of any light-duty diesel vehicle for sale today. The EGR takes exhaust gasses after the DPF unlike other diesels. I'd still delete it after the warranty is up because I hate regens, but the emissions equipment shouldn't damage the engine like it does in other diesels.
@@aydenrich262 a 2016 is. Its basically a Silverado underneath with coils instead of leaf springs in the back. The new ones are independent rear suspension so definately not a truck
You take it off road once! The whole thing will fall apart. The closest things to off-roading those vehicles will experience will be the speed bumps in school and store parking lots.
Idk if my neighbor has a '23 or '24 he just got it but $84k. He sold a Silverado (2015), a Vette (2001), and a boat and still financed $40k. God bless em
Jesus! I got a 21 Denali that was about that price, saved all those stimulus checks and sold my 13 Acadia denali and financed way less than 40K. Just dang! 😮😮
Who cares about giant screens? They don't do anything for you while you're driving except shine too brightly at night and impede your view out the windshield. People purchasing vehicles based on the damned infotainment are a bunch of suckers.
Not only that but the screens will fail in just a few years by being exposed directly to sunlight and such. And then the screens will be over $1000 a piece and very complicated to change. Not only that but fast forward 10 years and they probably won't make them anymore and there'll be $3,000 to $6,000 a piece.
Ah yes, the 2029 model. Comes with a full 85 inch TV in the windshield. So you can just tailgate and watch reality TV on the way to the golf course or Sephora 😂
Seriously, can they all just figure out how to make a solid vehicle instead of shoving these stupid features in. I’d bet at least half of people in the world want a solid vehicle for their money not a tech filled mediocre tin box
I agree. I actually went and spent half an hour on the Toyota website and looked at nearly every single one of the cars (at least the ones they sell in Australia where I live), and they all roughly follow the analog gauge small head unit design, but most of them have analog gauge clusters on a 7-10 inch screen but they are fairly basic and I like them.
@@yourlocalidiot69420if they are on a screen they aren't really analog gauges they are a pictures on a screen. You can make this Tahoe do the same analog or digital
@@Ada-zn3pw ok im just saying that Toyota roughly follows the "analog gauges with a small head unit" theme by the gauges are on a screen. I know that if they are on a screen they are not really analog.
I dont understand why people get so excited when something becomes "standard" on a base model. All that means is the price will go up with the new features. It never gets a 17" mega touchscreen and stay the same price as last years base model. Its so annoying
Yeah, and I would think physical buttons and gauges actually cost more to build than a touchscreen, which have become commodities by now. Betcha those screens come from some seedy sweatshop in China.
the tahoe is ugly now. instead of keeping it the big body box car we all loved, they’re now trying to make it like every other suv on the market. the last generation was perfect.
Why is a 17.7" screen insane? It's 2023 and every car maker wants to put cinema-size screens in their cars and ditch all mechanical controls and gauges for the sake of being 'futuristic' (but actually it's for cost-cutting for fatter profits).
I still dont know why they do this, even for cost cutting. NO person wants this. They are all asking for physical buttons, they are just blind and stupid
I need to FEEL the controls! I can find and work the controls by feeling them without looking away from the road. A switch can be replaced without having to replace a whole screen.
@@mickangio16 I think manufacturers are quickly realizing that people need physical buttons. Full touch screen controls is just a funny gimmick that's getting old quickly.
I'm sure there are places in the world where these would be re-categorized as a small bus and would require formal certification and training to operate.
“Housewives, rejoice! You can have this in your driveway to run errands, go to the spa, pick up our little ones to and from from school, go to the grocery store or even just drive it around town so people can think you actually take it off road. You can have this for the generous price of $100k, but don’t forget about an amazing specials. Our dealer markups is the best special we have year round. Come out and see us at Chevrolet. Can’t wait to drain your husbands account soon” 😊
@@jonathancardenas783 I don’t know many offroaders who aren’t proud of how beaten up their truck is, but the soccer mom part makes sense😂 gotta have those nice features so barbara can take her brand new jeep to the grocery store without worrying about having to step too high
Except these aren't built to last even 10 years based on the amount that people drive trucks these days. So the 3L Turboldiesel will have completely worn itself out by 150k miles, as evidenced by some other RU-vid channels of people who have actually already driven them this far.
That's why I hate to say it but buying an ICE vehicle at this price is insane. I dont really care for my Tesla Model 3 but I bought it to avoid all the maintenance and break downs associated with ICE vehicles. I can drive the shit out of my Tesla and it never breaks down and the battery has no issues at all..I have the performance version and range is terrible in real world but like I said in the long run it will last MUCH longer than a car with a regular engine.
@@Magnus_Magnusson_702 I don't know where you get this from or why you think that for some reason regular vehicles just break down all the time because it's just false. I mean I had a 2011 QX56 that I bought with 80,000 miles and I have had this for seven years now and we have put 70,000 more miles on it and have only ever done basic maintenance. We did a 110,000 mile tune up in changing the spark plugs and changing out the differential fluid and then I changed the alternator in 2020 along with a couple coils and I changed the starter in 2022. Otherwise, I just do an oil change and clean the air filter. So prior to the vehicle being 10 years old; it required no actual maintenance other than oil changes and air filters. I have a 2017 Chevy SS sedan and I bought it new; has 45k now. It's supercharged making 700hp and I don't exactly drive it slow... Nothing has gone wrong with it which wasn't something I did or when I broke a part at the race track. Nothing major has ever broken so in terms of general reliability; it has been 100% reliable. In my experience with my other gas cars, as well as the ones I mentioned, I can say that gas vehicles are in general pretty much reliable until 120,000 miles when there are major services. And at that point in time, it's usually not too much to service them for another 100,000. At 100,000 miles though your Tesla is out of warranty and unless you have done everything you can to take care of the battery it will definitely have degradation and reduced range and reduced power and you will be looking for a new battery costing over 10,000 to over 20,000 dollars. To make matters even worse, the motors in Teslas are not known to last to even 200,000 miles, whereas gasoline motors often last over 400,000 miles before they need to be rebuilt, as long as they are taken care of, such as doing oil changes, which honestly cost only around $30.
Miss the days when cars were steel and glass and actually affordable and made for comfort and style . Now they are overpriced plastic carriages that are double ugly and unreliable. Why people buy this crap I have no idea. This pos costs just 20k less than my 2000sq. Ft. House is worth😒
@@mickangio16Not everyone wants a touch screen and no one needs one. Fancy stuff like that raises the price and its another component that can break. Generally the more complicated you make something the less reliable its gonna be.
Old 8.1 Suburban is a better option , even the 454 is nice . you can get 4.11 gears for better pulling. and maybe lockers front and rear to keep up with these newer offroad package trucks . the price will still be less than half of this one
they always rush them into production. my buddies stepdad bought a silverado brand new and after probably not even 2-3 months of winter the whole back end needed to be redone. also said undercoating it would void the warranty:)
I think that every version that's not like the 5.3 V8 is just horribly unreliable and even with the 5.3 V8 you should use the plug-in OBD2 modules that disable the cylinder deactivation so that they don't grenade themselves.
And yet they always find a new home in someone's project car. My buddy did mechanic school at one of those diploma mills and he quit because they told him he might have to stretch the truth from time to time. Poor sap
Hows about automakers release a version of all their vehicles called the "base" that has analog guages, a basic am/fm/bluetooth radio, halogen head and tail lights, a simple A/C, heater, basic power windows, power locks, manual seat and steering wheel, a manual parking brake, cheap cloth seats, single color plastic interior, rubber floor even, and charge $15,000 so we can afford work trucks again. We dont need to drive a luxury car to pick up gravel from home depot.
@@Euharlee oh yeah they’re terrible 🤣 the only GM brand that I’ve ever liked they axed for no reason and it’s the only GM brand I’ve liked and had good reliability with

Ill stick with my rusty old shitbox of a 72' Dodge pickup thats 30 years older than me, with nothing but a broken cassete player and radio built into the dash. Cause atleast I can fix it, and it can survive an Emp too
All I want is a modern Chevette in a performance version with a rear wheel drive based AWD like the Astro van's was. Pure, mechanical grip. Like an affordable Chevy version of a VW Golf R. A 2.0 turbo 4cyl, a 6 speed manual or automatic, a USB port for tunes, and manual everything else. Like window cranks and locks. No more aging electric door locks that fail. All for no more than $22,000, with a detuned rear drive base option for $17,000. To me.... that's reasonable. Would still make GM a profit. Smaller folks like me are tired of giant vehicles. Bring the S10 back...with a regular cab option. These mid-sized limousine trucks look ridiculous.
I'm with you bro. Cancel all this fwd crap, get rid of these OVERSIZED trucks, ridiculously overpriced and unneeded accessories in today's cars. We need simplicity, that last way longer than electronic garbage.
@forestghost7 I hear you. I wish I could find something cool from the 80s that wasn't a rusted POS now, from being abandoned. Too many junk yards scrap the old cars, and you can't find good examples anymore. Sad.

Despite what it offers, it'll still be a grocery getter. I see new offroad trim trucks all the time that don't have any signs of actually being used for what they were built for. My neighbor has the 2022 Chevy Colorado ZR2 and he has never went on a dirt path in it, I talked to him about it.
I remember back when a guy had an XJ Cherokee and he wanted to test out the 4wd. So he drove past the waterline at low tide and sunk up to the doors. Seems like there's always one truck stuck in the bay every year
