Hello all! I'm happy to share how I make a basic loop schedule for my 2nd Grader. He is my youngest, but here's how you can adapt a homeschool schedule and how I plan for my 2nd grader for his weekly routine.

amen!! we do social studies and science on alternate days bc who wants to do like 7 subjects everyday! math and reading/LA we do almost everyday but one lesson and then the rest is practice. I LOVE homeschooling

I did the same thing with All About Reading. Even though my daughter was catching on quick, I still did all 4 levels with her to make sure she had all the sounds.

Welllll, Natalie, I had good intentions for them to do this, but it didn't happen like I had hoped. I plan on trying again with this this coming year. (My 10 year old hates writing, so it was tough to make him do the journal this year...I'm going to try again next year).

Well, there's lots of curriculum! I mostly get it from the internet. I like A Peaceful Press, A Gentle Feast, and Math With Confidence. It really depends on what curriculum you want!

How much time 1:1 do you set aside for each child?

Great question! My youngest gets the most since he's still learning reading, writing and math skills. He gets about 45 minutes to an hour with me. My 10 year old gets about 30 minutes. My oldest, 15 minutes. I only do Spelling with her, and check in on her independent work once a week or so.

Does All About Reading count as your language arts? I’m new to homeschooling and we need a language arts curriculum but not sure what that looks like. Does it just mean spelling and phonics like you said?

All About Reading is part of Language Arts. Yes, it's Spelling and Phonics. :) As far as Language Arts in 2nd Grade, they mostly need Phonics, listening to good books, and handwriting. And practicing reading on their own or out loud with mom :)

What do you mean? Which lessons? I usually follow a curriculum or book list and just follow those :)

"You don't have to get everything done before lunch, it will get done by the end of the day" ..Uhm, it's NOT getting Done! 🤦‍♀️ that is why I'm here, we can't get it figured out!!! 🙆‍♀️ My daughter is such a procrastinator, it takes me constantly staying on her to get anything finished & it's dark by the time she does get finished, on the days that we do. What am I doing wrong..? 😕 I think I need to find HER learning style, because Worksheets ARE NOT it..
