The Jeep Cherokee 1/10 scale crawler is back. After breaking the old upper rear 4-Link bars, I wanted to replace them with new easy to print and much stronger links. You'll see the design process of the new links, the installation, and some driving footage. Will these new links prove to be a solid and reliable replacement? So far they seem to be up for the task, but time will tell.

A nice chill little video I put together this past weekend. A little CAD, a little crawling, and some new parts. Some settings were off while crawling which resulted in some shaky footage at times, but still thought I'd put it in. Will address this and be trying out some new equipment next time. Hope you all enjoy. 👌

Hey Make it RC great job you did on rock crawler with the update on 4 links i must say this jeep is will be fun for long time to come and speak of new ideas for future videos so like to do a RC drag race car with tamiya honda nsx because i was thinking no one has done anything like it before on RU-vid or for even more wild idea how about doing monster truck with toyota supra body so that a lot fans can watch something unexpected on your channel if you agree with me then yeah i am down for that to happen soon on your channel.

@@lillianapacheco9155 Glad you liked the video. Those are some wild ideas. I've got some cool projects and videos in the works that are a little "outside the box" that I think a lot of people will enjoy. Those are some cool ideas you've got.

I noticed the differentials you are using. The same ones i bought and put on my axial scx10. I also added a lift kit and new suspension links. But found that there was too much binding going on so put the original axial diffs back on. And have thus been in the process of creating a d90 chassis rat rod.. no suspension. And a centre diff. Brushless motor esc. Only just created the centre motor /transmission. Creating as i go. It may or may not end up with a custom fabricated flat skin to the chassis which also has aluminum braces to connect the front rear diffs mounted at the suspension points. May or may not get a cheap sound system. In it. Not sure how the diffs will handle the brushless power.. let alone the transmission ..21.5 turn. Was possibly a safe choice.

I have what looks like the same axles on my Jeep. If that's the case you can make longer upper front links and "clock" the axle to correct the steering geometry and get a nice ponion angle up front. Same for the rear.

awesome project! but why do you use PLA instead of PTG or ABS? wouldnt they be more strong?

Dude you should try and build and launch your own hobby grade 10th scale crawler line you deff could do it

Petg might be a better material for these kinds of parts. It's pretty tough and a lot less brittle than pla.
@MakeItRC
@MakeItRC 5 лет назад
Yeah that's a good idea. I've been experimenting a little with PETG are will probably be using more it in the future. But PLA has been getting the job done for a lot of parts.
@DoRC
@DoRC 5 лет назад
@@MakeItRC for sure. Pla is surprisingly strong. It just tends to fall a bit short on thin things like those rod ends.

How long does it take you usually to design a part in whatever program that you're using
@MakeItRC
@MakeItRC 5 лет назад
It really depends on the part/assembly and the complexity of it. I wasn't timing it, but I don't think it took more than 20-30 minutes to get the links designed. Some of that time was spent taking measurements to ensure they would fit. The software is Autodesk Fusion 360.

The suspension is far too stiff. Also, it would perform and look better with a droop setup.
