That Ebert hit in the Richmond game still makes me cringe to see. I was at the game and remember so clearly him trying to get to his feet and his legs just giving out on him. What a crappy way to end an incredible career.

We don’t all flop, most people who don’t play professionally will get boots to the face or a hard ball to the shoulder. Footy is just a more intense game
He didn't do anything wrong. He made contact with the ball and tried to move away. Completely different story if he had not made contact with ball. Everythimg looks worse in slow motion
@@jackduncan7214 lad look at the video more than once. He has his whole arm extended when he hits the ball. He then brings his entire hand and forearm all the way back and his hand is at his chest and elbow is still out at point of contact. It’s unlucky but by the rules, he chose to keep his elbow out so it’s not accidental, he had high contact and high impact. Same thing got jeremy Cameron like 7 weeks or something.
@@samysull333 i dont agree at all, camerons was late and avoidable. As i said, this is in super slow mo, makes it look like he had time to react, this is a mans game, there was no malice in this, just unfortunate.
@@jackduncan7214 lemme just deconstruct everything real quick. everything after avoidable is pointless bc he did react hence why he pulled his hand in and kept his elbow out, he did react. and camerons was still to fast to react properly all they both did was instinctively protect themselves. there was no malice in camerons either so that doesn't matter. now to the first sentence. camerons was later still not that late. and it definitely wasn't avoidable. he misjudged his ability at get to the ball in time in a simple mistake that everyone makes, got pushed and protected himself.
I get that people find some of these hits cool, but as a healthcare worker and volunteer I find more of these impacts sickening than good! Hip and Shoulder? Absolutely! Anything near the head? Can very quickly and easily become manslaughter.
That was like that for me when I started watching I’m a Collingwood fan in Ireland the more you watch the games the more names you will remember and know
In rugby, you can't be tackled while attempting to catch the ball if your feet are off the ground. As for the hits, Aussie rules is a 360 dimensional game. There's no offside except for the relatively new 6/6/6 rule,(6 players from each team have to be in their 3rd of the ground whenever the ball is centre bounced from a goal). Other than that, everyone can be anywhere, hence you don't see a lot of these tackles coming.
