Thanks for taking the time to shoot this video. I have been wanting to upgrade my garage and have contacted the design department at New Age to have them help me figure out the best configuration for my space. Your video was really helpful in seeing how it all went together and the little nuances that exist. I plan on buying the Pro series so I am excited to get it designed and installed. Thanks again for your time, well done!!

@@bobbygfl Great, I'll look forward to seeing what you set up. So far, my experience with NewAge have been very discouraging. It took three days for their design people to get back to me but it was only a day or two later that I got the design and the quote. Unfortunately, the listing of what I wanted in their email included things I did not want and the quote was missing several items. I detailed the issues and got back an email the following day and it was like they ignored the vast majority of my email so the quote was still wrong. I have corrected them one more time and if this does not work, I will reach out to the firm and request another sales/customer service person to help me. You would think when you are spending over $5k they would try to get it right. I'm hoping my experience improves..............thanks again.

Hey this was super informative! Very few people go into the detail of cabinets like you did. I am considering NewAge and the points you made are all very important to me, especially the fitment, casters, flex, and usability. Yes I came through the back of one of the cabinets from within the wall up into the ceiling to tie into the ceiling lights. Once through the cabinet I used that flexible metal conduit with metal electrical boxes I really wish that I showed that. Anyway the LED is simply just plug-in there’s a switched plug it in every other cabinet.

This is exactly what I was looking for… can you talk about the electrical inside the cabinets? I have outlets on the wall that I was planning to just cut a hole through the back of the cabinet to access them but I see you’ve got plugs ran inside the cabinets. How are they connected to your power feed from the wall? Where does the other end of that steel jacket flexible cable connect to, in order to get power? Thanks!!
@bobbygfl
@bobbygfl Год назад
I tied into existing outlets in the wall under the cabinets and then snaked up through the wall and into the back top of the cabinet and then ran electrical from cabinet cabinet as you can see. For the switched outlets, I ran a wire down from the ceiling and into the back of the cabinet to tie into the overhead lights.
@SteveHartmanVideos
@SteveHartmanVideos Год назад
@@bobbygfl that makes sense. Thank you. I ended up putting an outlet behind the cabinet. I have not set them up yet, and if there is a metal back to the cabinet, i will have to cut a hole or area where the outlet is in order to access the outlet. I like your idea better but I’m not sure if its easier, i would still have to go through the wall somehow to get it connected to the metal outlet boxes.
@bobbygfl
@bobbygfl Год назад
Just use a metal cutting oscillating multitool saw and mount the outlet plate on the inside of the metal cabinet. It’ll look just like your disposal outlet under your sink. www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200629289_200629289

Thanks for that very informative & intuitive perspective! I have been grappling with the quality issue, particularly for the drawers & doors (ie, people leaning on open drawers & cabinets). What do you (or any of you experienced folks) think of my trying to cut costs by "hybriding" the Bold series for wall cabinets & Pro for under workbench tool drawers/cabinets? As it is now, I would be looking at a continuous strip of about 144" (12 ft)of wall cabinets, with slatboard underneath, & a workbench (with a sink in the center), & undercounter combo of cabinets & a couple of tool drawer units. The other wall (separated from this one by fridge, central vac, door to the mudroom in the house) would have about 112" (9ft) of wall cabinets & slatboard underneath.
@bobbygfl

Thank you! Sounds like a great space!
@janeanlee3183
@janeanlee3183 3 года назад
It may be too late now, but it is critical to check all dimensions. The pro series is taller and deeper than the bold and it may be difficult to attach the two styles.
@bobbygfl
@bobbygfl 3 года назад
@@janeanlee3183 agreed. As long as the wall cabinets don’t touch any of the upright tall pro (doesn’t sound like he has any of those) he should be fine.
@allenr265
@allenr265 9 месяцев назад
Hi Bobby, if your were to do it again would you go with the pro series. I'm going with the pro. I've seen on the new age web site lots of people are complaining about the stainless steel table top that the gauge is super thin and even come damaged since they seem to be so fragile. Are you happy with the bamboo top. I work on small motors, and sometimes hammering is required. Wonder if I could screw in a vise as well? So now I'm just debating between bamboo or stainless... Thanks Mate ☺👍
@bobbygfl
@bobbygfl 9 месяцев назад
I would not get the stainless for this reason also. It’s not like a restaurant style thick gauge, it’s thin. Not only thin be not 303 or 316 grade. It’ll show rust marks. That said I’m very happy with the bamboo. For my primary work surface I bought this and cut to fit. It’s maple and even heavier duty. I was considering gluing 2 of these together for a 2” thick awesome work surface but never got to it. Hope this helps! 1" Thick Solid Wood Butcher Block Top - 24" D x 48" L - by BenchPro a.co/d/1L3vpCU

Also I have a have a vice through bolted on the bamboo. No problem at all. 2 bolts go though the inside of the cabinet and one bolt is outside because I wanted it close to the edge.

I see you don't have any of the slatewalls. Do you have any opinion on how I would install an electrical outlet within the slatewall? I would assume I could cut out a hole for the outlet but not sure how that would affect the performance/stability of the slatewall. Thanks and I appreciated your video. It was very informative! David
@bobbygfl
@bobbygfl 3 года назад
I do not store my tools hanging and decided to skip the slatwall. However installing an outlet would not effect the integrity of the slat wall in anyway. Just cut the hole, use a deep box and wire the outlet as you would in drywall.

My last message got cut off...Sorry about its length! Here's what I wanted to know: Do you think the bamboo workbench surface could be easily cut to accommodate an 18" x 14" bar-style sink, without losing it's integrity & durability? What do you think of "regular" Husky compared to New Age Bold or Husky Heavy Duty compared to New Age Pro? I truly appreciate any advice you could offer...!
@bobbygfl
@bobbygfl 4 года назад
Derek D the quality of the bold has been fine for me. Combining bold and pro seems like a good idea if your concerned. They’d look good together in my opinion. The bamboo would support the sink cut out. It’s very dense and sturdy. I think husky is heavier duty, thicker sheet metal, better roller bearings for draws. Thicker worktops. But for me the cost was more than the quality gain. I’ve moved and I sold this house with the cabinets. I’m choosing newage bold again for my new house. I think the quality for the money is very good. Especially if you buy their package kits. Good luck! Hope this helps.
