Yes I would like to see a re-tooled Mk 1 and V. But of all the Spits I am Over the moon it's the MkIX, to me the Spitfire of Spitfires. Lovely job on the Tamiya one.
I've already been through the instructions,picked the scheme i'm doing and highlighted the options,it also gives you the correct size of he propeller tips.
I do like the way KOTARE have done there fuselage on their new one with that top peice that stops us from having to deal with that seamline right down the tail! Hopefully this works well and other follow
Pardon my ignorance, but what was the issue with the Tamiya rubber tyres? I’m curious to know as a novice/intermediate builder who just built the 1/32 Tamiya. I actually thought they were great, so I’m curious to know why resin would’ve been better, from a professional level builders perspective.
It's just that they have a centre mould seam, do not have the bulge effect known as 'weight on wheels' and over time they can degrade, but don't feel obliged to follow trends, if you are happy with them, that's all that matters. Happy modelling. 😃

TAMIYA will always be the bar to try to beat but it's set very high. I've ordered the AIRFIX 1/24 Spit for the stash. In your wanderings around all things A/C modeling have you heard, even the faintest whisper of a 1/24 Hurricane? Great vid matey and I look forward to seeing the next instalment. No whispers, but that or the Stuka or 109E (Preferably all of them) would be a great choice. I was really nagging them for a 1/48 Jaguar, but feel it wasn't really on the radar? 😩

From a non modeller the construction seems straightforward (he says confidently), but attempting to finish off with such an incredible paint job as this is far too intimidating.
Nice spitfire build Peter yes the exhausts do have the weld seam down the center the only thing I picked up on is the color off the crow bar in the door speaking to a few of the few that flew during the war the crow bar was usually silver painted early on in the war later they were painted black to stand out more against the interior green of the cockpit so in case off a jammed canopy was easyer to see in case it was needed the red color came in for restored aircraft and was down to that little thing we all love health and safety hope it clears it up its not a moan or nit picking as you done a cracking build of the kit just thought would clear it up as many years a go I was on a recovery spitfire dig and we found the door and crow bar was still there and it was painted black looking forward to your review and let's see if airfix get it right as it looks to be a cracking kit
There is a mould line on one of the canopies supplied as I guess you have now found out? Love the build of your 1/32 Spitfire 1X Tamiya, how long did it take if you don't mind me asking? Finally may I ask what make of lamps are they all on parade?
Thanks. 😊 Yes I mentioned the mould line on the new Airfix version in the other full review. The Spit took about 220 hours to build in total, including every minute spent cleaning brushes & airbrushes etc. the lamps are lightcraft. 👍🏻
In any of your conversations with Airfix, did you get a feel for what they are trying to 'be' going forward? Are they trying to compete with Tamiya or even Zoukei Mura with this kit? Lots of detail would be great but I'm hoping that they actually nail the engineering and quality control first.
No I don't get that feeling, sadly. I think they see themselves as a successful business rather than a std bearer. The biggest issue for me is their talented designers all seem to go in slightly different directions instead of recognising the best concepts in the market or their own team and incorporating them into their design strategy as a policy going forward. So Paramjit, Matt, Chris, etc all have different approaches instead of taking each guys best ideas and including them in all kits going forward. 😕
@@Peter-Oxley-Modelling-Lab Yes, I get the impression that there is that 'amateurism' within their management - still a bit of a cottage industry of enthusiasts compared to a Tamiya.
@@FinsburyPhil I think that the late Darrell Burge (RIP) was steering them in a strong new direction, (think 1/24 Typhoon) but the new younger team, though very talented, lack experience and vision, plus in all fairness are constrained by Hornby's need to see quick return on investment.
If there is a pilot - it will be one you have bought yourself. They just don't seem interested. I'm still annoyed about the undersized, WWII generic blobs they supplied with the Chipmunk.

1. There is no pilot....I asked the Airfix man at Telford. 2. They actually supply TWO canopies....one with a seam and one without. 3. Oh, and the tyres are in two halves
