CAN NOT WAIT to try this…I have two dies that will be perfect for this technique, one is a Nativity scene that I think will be so wonderful with that night sky look, the other is a scrambled Happy birthday die that makes a square card , I am going to try a glitter or metallic paper for the overlay. This could easily be addictive. Thanks Jennifer, sorry you and your daughter have been sick, will send some prayers your way!
beautiful backgrounds is the only words I came up with. I love using alcohol inks, the are so forgiving. I even use inexpensive photo paper that works great. Thanks for using these inks again and for sharing this 2 for one technique.
Kelly Letavola-Taylor re-lit my love for alcohol inks then my inner Jennifer kicked in and I smooshed, such pretty backgrounds! I pressed and wiggled and wow! I also added foil and that really made the pearls pop! Thank you for the accidental collaboration.
My afternoon is open for crafting and I absolutely LOVE alcohol inks...I will set up a special table and get right to it! Perfect timing. These are great designs and cards.
Okay, had the stuff so had to try right away. Note that I am neither expert nor particularly talented, so my comments should be taken with the proverbial grain of salt. First, I left the sandwich together for at least 5 minutes and got much better results. Second, hated the puffer tool...I really wanted those striations. Waved a full size sheet of cardstock about a foot from the yupo, and I was very pleased with the results. Jennifer has taught me to play and not be too hard on myself. I love her videos!
“I don’t have any white scrap cardstock left”. This statement confuses me!!!!! I swear I have scraps for days! 🙂. Absolutely love these ideas!!!! Great job Jennifer!
The first cards were so amazing and then you pulled out the black city silhouettes and WOW! The black looks even more amazing against those amazing sky alcohol ink prints. Stunning.
Black Friday I bought 4 pkg of 8x10 Yupo 25 sheets/pkg at JoAnn’s for half price. Have been busy making Xmas cards but can hardly wait to play with my alcohol ink backgrounds. I used to do this technique on glossy paper with a product called Luna Lights back about 2001. Hadn’t thought of this with alcohol inks. These backgrounds will be fantastic with the new Tim Holtz/Simon Says Stamp Santa’s sleigh die I got on Black Friday as well. Thanks for this video. Hope you and your family have a great holiday season!!
Jeniffer, your tutorials are so beautiful that I never would miss any because you always have that patient to go step by step and explain so clearly and how you turn your tutorials in whatever theme you choose into cards that are so beautiful. I love your tutorials and never get bored watching them. I really appreciate your projects, thank you so much and wish that you and your family have a wonderful holidays. God Bless your talent.
Wishing you lived closer is perfect for my daughter who lives a four hour drive away ! The card is spectacular ! Keep on crafting' Jennifer. 🙋 Nana in se OK usa
Your creativity just amazes me…..who would think to smoosh 2 pieces together? Such beautiful results! I think you were reading my mind…I just watched Tim’s videos about the pearl inks and the alloy inks last night and ordered them. It’s been awhile since I played with alcohol ink and you both have inspired me!
you can do this smooshing with nuvo drops too - but it's thicker and doesn't move as much - and it leaves bumps - but actually really pretty look - i like to die cut them. now i'll have to try my alcohol inks!!
Great technique, I even have all the stuff to try this! Since I am usually not happy with my alcohol ink results, this might fix what I don't like. Twisting the lift-off looks cool.
Absolutely stunning! I think some of my favorite cards of yours!! Darn it- I wasn't supposed to buy anything for myself this month but you can't beat the value of Hero Arts kits and I need more alocohol inks too! You have truly inspired me!!!
Yeah i was going to say that with the alloys it looks like Aurora Borealis. So pretty. And the with the shadow die cut, it gives you your dimension too.
Always love watching your techniques but as I was watching I had an idea. After you put the two sheets together instead of lifting straight off how about giving it a twist and then removing it 😍 may give a really cool effect! Merry Christmas 🎄
Love to see the ways you've made alcohol ink backgrounds...and then made beautiful cards with them. I suppose my favorite is the city with the lovely "lightening" look background showing through the circular cut out...and those gorgeous "twinkling" stars. I have one question though. You mentioned that you would link the Misti Pressure Tool in your supply list but I'm not finding it there. I was wondering though...this must not be like those "Chuckie" pressure thingies...because I don't think I'd want to use one of those with the felt bottom to press down images that have glue on them. My husband actually made one for me. He made a beautiful wooden square and put a lovely crystal door knob that I found at Hobby Lobby. It has a nice felt bottom on it and it sure saves on my hands and wrists when I use my Mistis for pressing inked stamps onto my cardstock. I wouldn't use it for pressing anything with glue on it though. Is there an actual Misti Pressure Tool?? Thanks so much for sharing your gifts of creation with all of us. Love every single video I've ever watched of yours. May God continue to bless us, the crafting world, with your teaching us!!
The folks at MISTI haven't made one. This is one that I like: www.etsy.com/listing/979132639/the-original-3d-printed-rubber-stamp?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=misti+tool&ref=sr_gallery-1-1&organic_search_click=1&bes=1
Amazing! Such a simple technique to make such interesting backgrounds! Thanks so much for the great inspiration!!! Wishing you and your loved one a very happy Christmas and here's to a good 2022 for everyone!!! Stay safe! :)
