To be fair, after losing so many assets in recovering Forerunner artifacts on Reach, the Covenant basically went "Fuck it!" and burned half of the planet with plasma bombardment. It doesn't matter how many Spartans the UNSC has, you can't beat orbital bombardment of THAT magnitude.
On top that they wasn't trying to run they was fighting back an alien invasion and defending their ground while trying to escort civilians off planet. If they wanted to just survive they very much could of did that and killed everyone in their way and left the planet.
Humanity generally won ground battles until they lost the orbital battle. The moment Covenant ships started to break orbit and establish air superiority, the UNSC started to lose.
And a 22-man strong Spartan II Red Team Also blue team (then John, Linda, and James) were not on reach per say but rather on a space station orbiting it
So, I have some bad news for you. That mission took place in I believe 2531, while Halo Infinite is set in I believe 2560. Over that 29 year difference, half of those six Spartans died. August-099, Leon-011 and Robert-025 are the surviving three.
@@FizzzyFoxy I think Jerome-092, Alice-130, and Douglas-042 of Red team deployed with 6 Spartans from Omega Team, 3 Omegas were killed leaving only August-099, Leon-011, and Robert-025
Omega Team are a rapid-reaction force - they were sometimes the first people to arrive to attacked colonies other than local defenders. They enacted last-stand protocols - sometimes via nuclear methods. All of them are combat engineers, demolitions experts, and surgically precise. EDIT: An update! The other three members of the six-man Battle of Arcadia roster were named - Riz-028, Kai-125, and Vannak-134, the canon versions of them.
What I find interesting about him in hindsight is that he was canonically wearing MK4 armor but clearly rocks MK5B design. To be fair though, it was publicly known to be Bungie's final Halo game. So technically his armor kit in Infinite is invalid.
Honestly I keep seeing this problem happen multiple times in several games. The issue isn’t so much that they’re being excessively greedy the problem lies in the consumer constantly buying the product, because in all honesty the company isn’t losing anything at all as it’s still being supported.
@@mikehansen6327 For sure, I’m guilty of having bought said armor pieces too and all that, doubt anything will change but I’m done buying this kinda stuff. Hopefully we’ll get some decent pieces through the “free events” at least
That's just the bundle Don't worry kids miss out on the bundle you can buy their individual armor for $20 each which comes out to $60 for 3 armors woooooooooooowwwwwwyyyyyyy. Thanos has entered the chat "All that for a suit of armor"
@@jcariryou paid 40$ for a fucking bundle of pixels my guy. that's it. I'll have a buddy generate the damn currency for me before I actually BURN money for it. not from MY check 😂😂😂
They are featured in Halo Wars 2 as a leader ability for Jerome, so they were still with the Spirit of Fire through its 25 year drift. Therefore wouldnt have fought on Reach. Assuming that particular Halo Wars 2 DLC is to be believed.
I hear you - They actuall never hopped aboard during the battle of Arcadia, Only Red Team did. They did make it back to Reach and were tasked with protecting the orbital space gun genrators.
It probably isn’t considering sgt forge and the arbiter are dlc along with sgt Johnson, who I quote “Even with the small handicap of being dead, Johnson isn’t one to disobey a direct order from his beloved Corps and he sprung back to life ready to kick all butts that need kicking.” Lmao.
Always love learning about new S-II's that are still alive in the present lore. Hope they can have some part in any future campaign lore (if we get any)
tbh, u can play with them on halo wars 2 if u play jerome and u can play with omega team during Halo Wars mission Arcadia, where you meet omega team for the first time
Damn I really fuck with their designs. Nothing too crazy or fantasy-like, but just the right amount of small details and extra gadgets to make them stand out
@@John_lawbringeronly like 3 armor pieces on operation, everything else mostly filler, all the cancelled battle pass armor pieces are store exclusive only now.
Hey, Halo Wars 2 campaign focuses on red team, with Jerome, Alice, and Douglas. The multiplayer has Jerome leading Omega team though, which kind of makes no sense to me. You should be able to call in the rest of red team whenever Jerome is your leader. Anyways, their skills in battle are entirely dependent upon your skills as a battlefield tactition and positioning them correctly. Personally? I usually deploy them early on around the mid game point, and I can usually wipe a large chunk of the enemies military out provided that they don't base rush early on and destroy me like absolute noobs. I hate base rushers. They completely destroyed the game. It's a viable tactic absolutely, but it kind of hurts the tactical battle feel.
Everyone surviving reach now these days. Next thing we know, cat is back and is perfectly fine. Turns out she was just knocked out. Emilie? Nah he shook off that little knife wound. Carter? He jumped out. Jorge? He survived the blast. He’s built different. Jun? Dipped out with Halsey. Noble 6? He’s behind you.
Spartan-II count according to the lore from Halo 1-3: Literally just one. Just the Master Chief. No one else is left. The lore including the books from that era: Okay, like 4 of them. 5 tops. And like 10 Spartan-IIIs max The lore now: Okay, like half of them are still alive. And like 100+ Spartan-IIIs
Nah, lore from the time was closer to like 10~15 alive all combined. But yes, the number has consistently gone up. But Omega were some of those earlier ones.
Even back in the Bungie days we had tons of them left. There was Grey team , Black team, the three from Halo Wars, the survivors of Blue and Red teams after Reach, and a handful of washouts so around 14-15 II's confirmed to have survived the war along with about 280 III's of Gamma Company since most of them weren't on Onyx when shit went down there.
@@mekboy7403 You seem to have misunderstood both the timeline and my comment. Black team, grey team, basically everyone but Red Team (Halo Wars) was supposed to be on Reach when it was attacked. The vast majority went down to the planet and died, a few were in orbit with only John surviving with Linda being essentially dead but placed in Cryo. Fred, Kelly, Will, and Grace all survived Reach, but Grace was killed before making it back to Earth. But in the video game its made pretty clear that John-117 is the last man standing. The back of the Halo CE game case even directly states that. No other Spartan-II is mentioned in game until CEA, where a reference to Clinically Dead Linda is made, and then in Halo 5 the rest of Blue Team shows up and disappears again afterwards. Red Team (Halo Wars) is the only other Spartan-II team in the games at all to have survived past Reach. But now in the extended lore it has been retconned so that dozens of Spartans are still alive. That lore came out much much later, so much later that I don’t even know what book they are in.
@@wyatttyson7737 As far as the games were concerned, yes because Bungie wanted to keep their stories a bit simple in that regard. As far as the extended lore goes although the game cover says Chief was the last one even as far back as The Fall of Reach we knew it wasn't true since it said Grey Team was too far to recall to Reach so missed the battle entirely. Most of the others were retconned in rehabilitated washouts whose augmentations didn't take properly so weren't counted among the 33 who fought at Reach and all of them but Black Team were canon by the time Halo 3 released and Black team came a couple years later.
@@BinToss._. They are still only ever shown visually in HW2. The sets are named after the squad we saw. Why would they then make sets of armour that do not match the armour sets of the characters they're named after?
Introducing some of halo wars unique weapons that we haven’t seen in the main games would have been great with this even a reintroduction for the railgun
Honestly spartan 2s were all trained to the same extremely level. Even by lore there was ones faster, or stronger then chief. He managed to go faster/same speed as the fastest once. But did serious damage to himself. Everyone has their special quality even on these apex humans. John's was just luck. So much Cortana took notice of the improbable odds were always on his side.
Chief isn't the best spartan he's the greatest it's always been established that chief wasnt the best of the spartan 2's at most he's 1 of 4 Spartans capable of leading the 2's and was chosen to be the leader of 2's
I like how originally it was like, maybe 1 or 2 spartan 2s that survived reach in the early halo days and now, like most of them are fine. The entire spartan 2 class was just in cryo or at space bucees the whole time apparently
You know there’s something I’ve always wondered about Omega team. The team was originally made up of 6 spartans when they were seen in Halo wars, and half of them died on reach as far as we know. I remember reading Halo First Strike, and in it, 3 surviving spartans, Anton, Li, and Grace, were split up from the other half of their squad and assumed they were dead. The 3 were killed during the escape from reach and subsequent battle, but I’ve always wondered if they could have been the other half of Omega team
Fun fact the three Spartans in silver team that accompany master chief from the halo tv show, are actually the three other Spartans in omega team in the actual lore.
Fun fact in halo wars 1 on the retreat from Arcadia mission, after holding the line for a set amount of time you are reinforced with the full squad of omega team which was 6 Spartans at the start sadly I believe 3 died but I don’t know how
It was more Bungie. The guys handling the EU didn't like they had a hard set number of II's that nearly all died on Reach so for a while around Halo Wars started having new Spartans be rehabilitated washouts who were never at the battle of Reach.
I know some people worried about how so many spartans survived when, during halo 3 times, we were trying to figure out why there were so few. During halo series the timeline of chief involvement was very small so if any spartans lived they probably kept in high positions or places. nobody would ever know about
Our prayers are being answered omg 😂😂😂😂 I’ve waited so long to actually see them in the game like the normal halo games but to see them almost as good as the concept art, I’m impressed. Might start playing halo again just to get it 😂
Hell yeah, so cool they added all 6 armours from the spartan team omega, they were so epic in the trailer and mission 05 on halo wars 1. •Leon-011 •Robert-025 •August-099 •Vannak-134 •Riz-028 •Kai-125 Glad that alas some members survived and they were made hero characters in halo wars 2 as part of thr multiplayer with Jerome-092.
They didn't survive unscathed in The Fall of Reach. They're the last 3 out of like 9-12 Spartans in that team if I do recall. Something about a pelican they were on getting shot down. Ironic cause in Halo Wars they came in beautifully and made that entire mission just so hype.
In the classic Halo Wars game, there were actually six members of Omega Team, not including Red Team. This means that there are three more members whose identities have not been revealed yet. If a third instalment of the game is released, these members might even make an appearance.
Sad to see a lot of people dont know about Omega team, you actually get to control them in their defense of arcadia city in the "Arcadia Outskirts" mission in Halo Wars, even though they're just reskins of red team in the actual mission its cool lore anyways. Unfortunate that they only appeared as a leader power in the 2nd game, would've been cool to see them play a small part in the story like the first game
So shaxx line in the red war was a reference "This is spartan group omega, if they want war, we'll give em war" - August-099 "Ah saladin's young wolf. my armoury is open to you. follow the path from there, it will lead you through the hangar to the plaza. I'll take care of these people, if the cabal want war, give them war!"
Like Spartan Red Team, Omega was comprised entirely of Spartan-II Washouts, their bodies initially rejecting the augmentations and killing them. However, they were later resuscitated and fully deployed as proper Spartans.
You can summon these guys in halo wars 2 if you play ad the Jerome leader. Its his final leader power, effectively giving you four playable spartans in a match.
If we ever got a retconned Noble Six boss fight between spartan teams I wouldn't be surprised. If we got a temporary spartan collabrative fire team purple. Subdue or kill as the orders.
