Tutorial walkthrough to get Gold in the new "Advanced Combat" Art of War mission. ↓ SHOW MORE for links & info! ↓
This one is all about your unit choices, and the setup for each wave. Quick summary for each wave: 1) Crossbowmen with stutter-step micro, 2) Full-surround with Horsemen, 3) Spearmen braced to counter the charge, 4) Stutter-step with Archers vs the Spearmen, and have Horsemen surround the Crossbowmen, 5) Position Crossbowmen on the cliff, & have Spearmen form a defensive line, and 6) Spearmen vs Knights, have Horsemen or Knights handle the Archers.

Im quite sure my crossbowmen hit the same target toogether but it still took 2 shots to kill 1 man at arms

Because they changed the enemy man-at-arms. Now you have to split your crossbowmen and kite them. It's still difficult though.

i try to split the man at arms with one crossbow at the beginning just like you but they still act as a whole... just can't win medal in this one:(

Dude, I can't understand how you're killing every 1 of the men-at-arms with a single volley of arrows, they have 155 health, and the crossbowmen have 12 damage, and you have 10 crossbowmen, what Adds 120 damage...

why not use knight vs horses...

Both Knights & Spearmen work well vs Horsemen. Spearmen are considered a hard counter, due to their bonus damage. Knights are more of a soft counter; they deal more damage & have more armor than the horsemen, but they don't get a bonus like the Spears. One other thing to consider is the value of surrounding the enemy units. In practice, spears are much cheaper than Knights, so you can outnumber the Horsemen more easily.

In wave 1 and 3, just go knights, with micro should be ez 0 death. Wave 2, go horsemen in line formation so crossbow split fire and ez 0 death. Wave 4, go MAA+horsemen, ez 0 death. Wave 5 and 6, go crossbow+knights, ideally 0 death buit usually have around 5 death in total.

they created a mode to advertise their terrible ai oh wow stupid archer just destroy my horses every time at best i can barely do silver, horses just get stuck inside each other and do nothing

One thing I find helpful with controlling horses is to spread them loosely. It's best if you can get a surround, or have multiple groups come from different angles, since they do trip over each other often.
