Thank you, our team has worked hard to to bridge the our gaming series alongside many of the enthusiast niche features/benefits of customer enthusiast keyboards. This is an evolution and continuation of what we have been doing throughout the year with models like our ROG FALCHION ACE, ROG STRIX FLARE II ANIMATE and ROG SCOPE series where we have phased in items like pre lubed and binned switches, sound dampening foam, improved stabs, hot swap PCB but also maintained manly elements traditional gamers have wanted. We look forward to the feedback and response from the community and media in 2023.
Very impressive indeed, but it would be nice if there was a cheaper option (the Azoth is 300 bucks) without the screen, the knob and wireless functionality. For me at least, these three features are cool but kinda gimmicky and nothing I would really need in a keyboard (for some, these features will be worth it ofc)
@@rzary_ IMO if their goal is introduce the mainstream gaming keyboard crowd to the qualities of customs, I think south facing is too big of a change for now. You'd be surprised how many people still absolutely must have good RGB in their boards
Damn this is seriously impressive for a stock gaming setup. I've decided to stop using customs for gaming a while ago and have been rocking a Ducky TKL. But this........ Has my attention. Great video as always my man. Entertaining and informative
Good to see Asus ROG branching out to an enthusiast level of both custom keebs and gaming mice. These products are SOLID. Excited to get my hands on that board for sure. Great review 💪🏽🔥
Man, it feels fantastic seeing more gaming keyboard brands putting out keyboards closer to enthusiast-grade. And the lubing tools included? Wowzers, I am speechless.
Just got my white azoth, it’s great. Idc about the 250$ price tag. This is the first keyboard that I have actually been happy with. My last 2 keyboards were the GMMK Pro I got on sale for 250$ and the Razer Blackwidow v4 tkl(200$) my gripes were no wireless capabilities. I also had the apex pro BUT when I’m not gaming it felt like crap. Finally happy with this keyboard through and through
I just bought this and am not 100% sure about keeping it. The main issues for me are (1) the 3-way button should just be a knob. Even if it's a scroll knob/scroll wheel, so much better for adjusting volume. This button thing is no bueno. (2) The OLED screen should have more options without needing Armoury Crate. Why can't I set it to show a clock as a built-in setting? Why is the default to always the ROG logo constantly reloading and animating? I don't want that thing running nonstop while I'm typing and not even looking at it... (3) can you please start using classier keys/fonts for your gaming keyboards. "Gaming" doesn't have to mean teenage cyberpunk. These letters/fonts are UGLY. If the keys and font were better, this could totally be used for a productivity board. Even better, have an option without the gimmicky OLED screen that doesn't serve any real purpose. Then you could have a real knob or scroll wheel and a dedicated delete button closer to the F12 key while also allowing dedicated home and end keys along with page up and page down. Why the heck is "Ins" a dedicated key over home/end? What a silly choice.
Besides being ambi reminds me of the original Rival with how skinny it is and low in the front. From what i need nothing like the Sensei, or Kana and looks too big and tall for a Kinzu. Mouse looks a bit longer than a Bolt but somewhat similar.
Nice vid as always. I gotta know though, what is the wrist rest you're using in the video? I've never seen it before. Thanks for the quality content as always.
That is very imrpessive for a production keyboard. I built a Rama Works Koyu 65%, and I missed the F row in certain games so I ended up ordering a Rama Works U80-B TKL as they don't have a 75%.
ok that keyboard really got my attention but its a north facing led so pretty much avoid anything cherry style keycaps if your worried about switch interference overall it looks good on my book
while i personally still wouldn’t buy the azoth, this is certainly a huge step in the right direction. we’ll see how the market will change in a few months, really interesting stuff
What a suprising from ROG! 54 gram gaming mice with the new sensor & new wireless technology, then the Wireless Custom gaming keyboard? 75% layout? Sheesh Logitech needs some learn from this company
I hate having to plug in a wireless mouse to charge. The whole point of having a wireless mouse is to have one less cable I need to worry about on my desk, and plugging it in to charge defeats the purpose. Just my opinion.
looks nice got nice stuff i wantedet to buy it bc my apex pro tkl broke second time and i want a new keyboard but this is slower and even more expensive sadly
I've been looking around and there is no clear answer, if anybody knows pls let me know, Does Armoury works with Mac? I got the keyboard and downloaded armoury but it doesn't register the keyboard for some reason, therefore I'm stuck with basic configuration, can't really use the display and if I can't well, then the KB isn't really worth it.
Can you upload the image for the keyboard directly to the keyboard? Or do you have to upload it to a cloud server that will eventually be offline or down for good?
i am building my first ever custom pc. so i am going to pick both the keyboard and mouse and im also getting a asus monitor. lol i find that interesting
The price of the keyboard is gonna hit hard in Aussie Dollars. But Dam thats a well thought out board. Really interested in that mouse though. Ive being looking for a new wireless mouse to replace my Glorious Model D. It's going to be between the Lamzu, X2 and this ROG mouse.
Awesome overview and hands on experience detailing! Thank you so much for taking some time to look at what ROG is bringing to your desk in 2023 - As always stay tuned for more! New up the ROG Raikiri Pro controller right? Best wishes to you and the channel and the whole community in 2023!
I just recently bought a barebones gmmk pro. This new product is tempting me now. I have the Asus G14, so it would be nice to get the Asus Azoth. Might consider returning my kit depending on the price of the Azoth.
ROG have really been stepping up their peripherals recently. All we need is a refresh to their headset and they would have a new slate of improved peripherals. Love to see a company as large as ASUS listening to enthusiasts.
In the next 3 years we're gonna see most if not all peripheral companies coming out with 65% and 75% mechanical keyboards and hopefully some hall effect switches in those form factors as well
@@crisnmaryfam7344 gradual control in games that support it (pushing the switch down half way makes you walk forward at half walking speed, for example), and since the switches have less parts touching you will get both a smoother actuation feel and they will last longer, with some older hall effect switches rated in billions of clicks before failure, versus the measly millions that contact based switches are usually measured in
I want to like the ROG line of products but my main problem is that their Amoury Crate software is their automatic profile switching which I use is super slow and laggy, like definitely 1+ second when I switch to different programs.
That keyboard is insanely cool. As you kept spouting off the different features I was just in awe at the attention to detail they put into this product. I haven’t bought a “gaming” keyboard in years but I will definitely be buying one of these.
The keyboard looks pretty dope, but I wish they were focusing more in performance by creating their own unique switches to compete vs Lekker, OmniPoint switches and stuff
I think it's more of a competition with non-gaming brands especially with hotswap sockets. While hall-effect is very neat I think both hall-effect and hotswap are pretty good options.
We do offer our own internal design switches both ROG NX and ROG RX switches our NX switches are pre binned a rarity amongst pre builds as most do not guarantee force deviation consistency. Also pre lubed and we have different actuation/reset points. Switches are complex though and highly personal but as a whole we feel we have a very solid set of switches that most users and many enthusiasts would be entirely fine with. On the other end we have our RX optical switches which offer many benefit such as reduction keycap wobble, brighter more consistent illumination, fast and consistent actuation and stability.
How the fuck did ASUS hit it on the head this hard, damn. Every element of these offerings is right on the nose. I feel like this is what companies should always aspire to do when they release a suite of new products but so many cut corners in bad places. I may actually pick up that mouse and pad. Keyboard is a hard recommend to my friends.
Thanks, we have a long history of aligning our designs with the feedback from our enthusiast community and this is apparent in our releases over the last two years. If you have noted checked them out you should. Appreciate the kudos our team worked very hard on the AZOTH!
Only thing that I’m concerned about is that OLED. I have a ASUS Ryuo which has wicked screen burn in. Started after one year and now after 3 years it looks like a 20 year old plasma you see at some run down restaurant or airport.
Glad to see a reviewer not stating a product as a ‘GAMING’ product as this is used frequently by many and a product isn’t a gaming specific peripheral such as a mouse or keyboard 🤦🤦♀🤔 as any user can utilise it’s features etc.
Let's consider the fact that he lubed this every damn switch for a 10 second soundtest snippet on a *gaming keyboard*. If that's not dedication I don't know what is.
I love seeing these brands identifying things in the custom keyboard scene that they can bring over to their stock boards to improve the quality and the overall look and feel of their products. I’m really excited to see Asus doing stuff like this.
Harpe Ace is really nice. Has made my GPX and other mice redundant. It has a nice shape, though i wish it was some 4-6mm wider at the grip point. But as much as i like what Asus have done with Azoth, i cannot live without my dedicated Home/End/PrntScr keys (which is pretty much standard on most 75% keebs). Fuck the red switches though. Once you go black, you never go back bby! And i completely second the notion that Wooting releasing a 75% would be massive. Currently eyeing DrunkDeer A75, but their hall effect switches seem a bit wonky.
i'm in Taiwan, and today i got to order this keyboard at around 245USD, hopefully it won't be marked up too much when it gets to the USA. it is a steal at this price if the keyboard performs as good as Brian says. thanks for the review, i ordered it because of this video.
To see a gaming keyboard that is actually pretty appealing to enthusiasts as well feels like a dream. Most keyboards I've ever seen are either completely gamer-orientated and not appealing to enthusiasts in the slightest, or completely enthusiast-orientated and has some setbacks that might bother gamers (other than a HELLA lot of RGB). I just hope that BadSeed Tech means an actually affordable price point by a "steal" because I feel like keyboard enthusiasts are the type of people who would call bank-breaking price tags "dirt cheap". Edit: Apparently the new keyboard will be $250, which no matter how many features you get for the money, dooesn't sound like a "steal". I think enthusiasts are so desensitized to above AirPods level prices for keyboards, they'd call $300 for a "better-sounding" and "better-feeling" mechanical keyboard "dirt cheap" like it's actually $30. The custom mech keyboard world is literally the California of the overall keyboard universe. Wanna cheap out? F u. You must destroy your bank like the rest of us for anything acceptable.
The shape of that mouse is like my Steel Series Rival 3 Wireless. That "hump' is actually really nice for medium to large hands. Less pinky drag on your mousepad.
PLEASE READ: Do NOT buy the Azoth Keyboard. I just bought it and Armoury Crate ruined my install of Windows 10 (crashes and game bugs), couldn't install on another Windows 10 PC, and is the most bloatware garbage when I got it installed on my Win 11 machine. It has 14 processes open and uninstalling it is a pain. And most of all, on this $250 keyboard, you can't even save 1 lighting profile to the keyboard. So unless you want the default profiles you must keep Armoury Crate installed. It's NOT worth it.
Been using the Harpe Ace for a couple of months and I am in love with it. Just ordered the Azoth since I'm trying to go for an all ROG peripheral set up.
Keyboard: Has a useless LED screen. Mouse: Only 2 side buttons. NOPE. EDIT: Bro get a Steelseries Rival 5 and you'll see what I mean, extra buttons are a godsend for most FPS, while not having too many as with MMO mice, and still retaining good sensor and light weight. The only downside for that mouse is the cable, you'll probably want to paracord it.
*claps for Asus* Welcome back into the peripheral game, we def needed a big company to give the finger to the others. Hotswapable and not locked to just THEIR switches, a full lube kit, amazing connectivity and quality...If that doesn't light a fire under the other company's asses, idk what will. And that mouse and keyboard is a VERY welcomed addition to their line. It shows that Asus is finally giving their peripherals the much needed love, and did a damn fine job.
At the $170 price of the Harpe Ace mouse, I'd likely rather have the ROG Spatha for $10 less... Granted, it's older, not ambidextrous, and is more gamer oriented, but it'd be more worthy of that pricetag.
i just got in a Huntsman V2 TKL and this keyboard is giving me second thoughts and maybe just return and wait. I need something i can use for work and gaming so i need something with F keys. I didn't like any of the wireless options right now like the low profile death stalker or G915 which is low profile as well but love the versatility of a wireless keyboard with 2.4 or Bluetooth to use with my work and personal laptop. I really wanted a 75% keyboard but settled on the TKL a lot of the custom builds seemed to have higher latency and didn't really look great with my all black/rgb pc build. Dang. This video makes my choice tougher for sure.
Fuck man, this board with the analog switches of the wooting would be amazing. Its such a hard choice, If wooting could make a TKL or 75% it would take the cake but this ASUS is hitting every other check mark man..
If they were listening to the competitive fps mouse market they would have ditched Bluetooth and RGB. These aren't things that competitive players care about. Probably could have been sub 50g
Don't need dedicated function keys for the Wooten 60E. YI have dedicated keys on my second layer. All I do is hit function and I have arrow keys and media playback. Just hitting one button doesn't bother me.
