I am geeky enough to have watched 6 different videos on this new Audi. This is the best review of all of them by absolute miles. Congratulations WhatCar, excellent work!
Sadly, cars have been looking similar for decades now. Go back 50+ years and at 100 yds or more, I could tell most makes of cars and even what model they were. Now I have to actually walk up to the cars to see who's made them. Let alone which model it is. 😬🥴🤷♂ _All down to wind tunnels and CAD I'd guess?_
Why are EVs not allowed to have the premium interior feel of the fuel variants? Hard plastic and gloss black plastic seems to have replaced soft touch materials and leather / aluminium surfaces. Seems the same across pretty much all brands and ranges
Probably to try and compete with Tesla prices without taking a loss or barely any profit from each sale? And everyone knows how cost cutting Tesla can be, so this may be the only way they can price compete.
The door mirrors would also take a bit of getting used to - given how they’ve chosen several cost cutting options for the interior, seems odd to use such an expensive way to replace the trusty door mirror!
Dear Doug, when looking at under boot floor storage you said that it was "just enough for the cables" but it is enough for those + the subwoofer. That matters. So many EVs and PHEVs out there that cannot be had with a subwoofer.
Please do some push-back on the manufacturers only giving peak charging numbers. Peak is not useful at all. Tell me the average time it takes to charge e.g. 50kWh, or even better, just give us the average charge rate for the usual 10-80%.
Just tried to configure one in the UK. Started at £72,000 and by the time I had added a decent stereo and a sunroof had hit £80,000. Not sure it’s worth twice the cost of an IONIQ 5, particularly after the Ioniq 5 refresh added a rear wiper, more range and more physical buttons. Mind you the Audi will depreciate so fast it will price match the Hyundai after a year or two …
So real world, highway middle of winter you should be getting somewhere around the 300 mile mark in range. Assume you can plan a decent charging spot somewhere in there and thats a 475 mile trip (100%-10%-80%-10%) with a 21 minute charging stop. Still, sure someone will be along to complain about how they wont be able to tow a caravan over the alps in a blizzard for a thousand mile roadtrip without a single comfort break shortly....
This is a great looking car, but why oh why does it have those ridiculous cameras/screens instead of mirrors, they are a hugely complicated & expensive solution to a problem that didn’t exist. How much will they cost to repair in 10 years time? Probably more than the car is worth!
Presenter- Stop jumping around.. HVAC buttons Yes or No. Take a stance. This would be at the top of my list, but now gets rejected due to the lack of buttons.
Audi nailed it with the new electric A6 love it, the design is great love the Sportback version, but we also finally got proper electric estate ;) great video
Thats one sexy car… amazing looking. Not sure I want a EV as my next car but this looks great. Edit: after viewing the video - OK I stay with BMW… Audi is crazy with its massive list of options you want to have… if the base car is so neutered forget it…
I've had multiple high-end Audis, like right now I own a 2023 RS5 Vorsprung coupe & although I like some features of their new generation of cars a lot, I'll probably go somewhere else for my next. Overall...not.at.all.impressed!
So a new family car costs £70,000 seriously that’s 90% of the uk who can’t afford it + the coupe fastback looks like a BMW 2 series cran coupe from the side and the estate just reminds me of Volvo especially the rear 3/4 panel
Audi dealers in the US saying Fall 2025. Zzzzz. Been watching video of the Q6 also "sometime in 2025". That's the new way of doing business - talk about them years before their release.
In general, those are good-looking cars both in and out. However, it feels like the modern car industry and car brands completely lost their identities - more or less all cars look the same. It is tough to distinguish if it is a BMW, an Audi, or some Chinese automaker. It is a result of a growing number of suppliers that supply parts to all car brands. Automakers probably outsource a lot of parts(maybe more than it was before?) and focus only on assembling the car in their factories out of parts that came from suppliers, hence there are no unique and interesting cars on the market anymore :/
9:14 Sorry, the knee room in the new A6 e-tron is NOT very good ! Similar to the new Q6 the space behind the front seats is significantly smaller than in a regular A6 and even an A4. For some weird reason that platform offers less space in the rear which leads to the strange phenomena, that a Q4 offers much more legroom than a Q6 and a combustion engine A6 much more than the electric A6 ...
Yeah but the difference is the Audi won't someday activate its stealth anti-West software....like that dystopian movie with the Teslas ...what was that movie called again?
@@ph8077 You need to step away from the TV for a bit and come back to the real world. In the real world BYD offers 600 miles of battery life and Audi only 380 miles and the only thing this says is that Audi and Tesla are way behind in technology.
Lots of good things going on. Love that Audi has made the A6 a bespoke EV! This car has a lot of cool features (like the light signal that tells you where to kick in order to open the tailgate), and FINALLY a frunck in a German EV. Unfortunately I’m really disappointed in how Audi completely ruined the exterior design with split headlights that just doesn’t suit the Audi design language at all. Audi should just have gone with their gorgeous concept version of this....
Stuff like this and ID7, pushing mid-£60k for a decent estate spec (LR), have a lot of potential but of course are very pricey! I’d be tempted to buy either/or used, at perhaps 2 y/o… for maybe £45k? Great used buy, and still warrantied in case you have a problem.
So the A6 is the electric version of the A5 and then the next A7 will be a replacement for the A8 and then I’m assuming an electric version in a new A8?
Interior is very low rent, lots of cost saving evident. Externally, it's a mess. Even the new badges are woeful. They've done the same with the new A4, oh sorry, A5, but at least that's an ICE car. This new A6 is an EV, so a ton of A6 buyers will walk away. We don't want ICE and if we did, we certainly wouldn't want it like this. Oh and Audi will price this way above where it should be. Just like Porsche have screwed up with an all electric Macan, so Audi follow suit. I currently have an RS6 Performance and looking at where Audi is going, it'll be BMW or Merc for me next time.
You don't have to, this car isn't replacing the ICE A6, the replacement for that will still have a combustion engine, it's just going to be called an A7
@@ChrisOne apparently there might be an RS6, but electric. And yes, the current A6 (when the new model comes out) will subsequently be known as an A7, S7 and RS7. The reason is just to differentiate between their Electric and ICE cars, so all Electric cars will be using even numbers (A6, Q6, Q8, Q4, while ICE cars will be using Odd numbers (A3, A5, A7). The one I'm not sure about is the current A8, whether or not it will be called an A9
I don't know what it is about these new Audis, but why does everything feel so trinkety, superfluous and overdone? Gaudy piano black which nearly everyone hates. Even the chargeport just looks overly complicated? It all feels overbaked. Where is the crisp elegant simplicity gone?
So we have a very large luxury saloon or estate that has a rear seat not comfortable for adult passengers. Pointless car that will be worth very little out of warranty.
No thanks. Excessive price , so so interior for the price and what is the point of these light bars other than a fad. On a dark wet January evening or morning just more dazzle
Once I saw Hercule Poirots moustache I couldn't unsee it . Not on DR obviously who always looks 110%, but on the Audi A6 E-tron Sportback (or similar meaningless words in a different order) at 2:21. That weird grill infill with the little upturned cutouts looks just like the Belgian sleuth's moustache. Also what IS that colour ? has it been painted yet ? Looks like a dead salmon. Its a no from me, I prefer my cars without comedy moustaches.
All that extra room we were going to get on the "dedicated platform" EVs seems to have evaporated in translating these cars from the drawing board to the street.
Awful interior, tablets and piano black, what a shame AUDI! This type of interior is the beginning of the END of the brand. Someone probably wants sales to decrease and the brand to fail.
ID7 anyone. This is litterally an expensive ID7. Wait the Id7 is over £50k already. At this point VW yes the owners of Audi are trolling its customers.😂😂😂😂
This car looks….bland. Why would anyone want this boring car, especially at that price point. It’s expensive and looks dull, missed opportunity from Audi
