A bone stock RS3 has done the 1/4 mile in 11.8. Very impressive. Tuning will put it easily in the 10's. Having a 10 second car that drives in all weather types is very impressive.

It's an exceptionally beautiful piece of kit and performance. Fast practical daily car which goes head to head against its rivals like the Golf R and Focus RS. I had a chance to test drive the S3 in Misano Red back in Boston and boy it responds to roads well and the turning radius is very sharp and spot on even when I darted in and out of traffic at break neck speeds. Certainly gave the salesman the scare of his life. Nonetheless, would settle for this but definitely wait for the price to come down a bit with some deals and rebates in place. Awesome video James keep it coming.

I'm guessing that the new transversally mounted engine is to push the mass behind the front axel, in an attempt to eliminate understeer.

3:33 Not to drop centre of gravity, but to push the engine more towards the centre of the car for better weight distribution (to make it less nose heavy and understeer).

A hatchback with that sound is the way to go

Yes I own one of those original S3's, well a 99T, ironically the same colour as the RS3 your testing here, its only done 40k, its like new and has been sheeted up in my garage for the last 10 years, Love it. That New Rs3 looks awesome! and sound's like and Group B S1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!.. Nice work bro..

Hi, James,good review of this astonishing RS3 !!! I've been thinking at your description below the video. Nothing most true of what you said! When I was a child I was looking to the hottest hatches and they have that average amount of that kind of power. But now An RS3 that has a bit less power of a BMW M4 is just unbelievable!! I don't dare to imagine in the near future what ABT or MTM will be making at this model and the performance that will be achieving!!

I drove the 360 BHP 2015 RS3 a couple of years back and that thing was a beast! 0-60 was definitely quicker than Audis quoted 4.3 seconds

Transversal layout comes from the MQB platform which is more efficient and compact. Sadly this means only Haldex quattro, which can only split 50/50 max, rather being FWD. Still the car is just perfect. Theres nothing better than that 5cyl and the RS3 Interior... one day I hope I'll own one

450BHP in the W12 i used to own was awesome for such a big car, so 400BHP in an a3, must be mind blowing!, have to say though, i'm preffering the RS3 SEDAN look :)

All the recent small Audis have had their engines mounted and it is done for packaging reasons (platform shared with VW Golf). This is not new for this A3/S3/RS3. The transverse mounting also implies a less sporty Haldex centre differential as opposed to the traditional Torsen used with longitudinally mounted engines.

Please consider a Porsche Boxster spyder for your convertible hunt!

15.9, guess you were having smiley pedal time lol? We had a go last year up at Croft circuit with Audi, being RS lovers, my other half totally loved these pocket rockets. Was a good baby sister to our love of the RS-6. Cool vid.

for the road all year round... it has to be the RS3... if only they could put the best chassis under that power train it would be a legend.

I heard it was the crank shaft that was hollowed out, most prop shafts are hollow have been for years

The saloon doesn't look right but the sportback with Daytona Grey is the way to go

There a is alot to be said for 4-wheel drive in any car especially in high performance cars put the hp to the ground in dry or wet conditions

Well I wouldn't say that Abt or mtm is right decision for a ecu upgrade, proper ecu remap only is a thing that does car drive smooth, because mtm and Abt only offer piggyback systems
