Carving the dowel perches is actually a really neat idea to give them more natural feeling perches while also saving money, I never thought of that before.
It is good to file down the dowel purches but you should probably also have some natural wood purchase because those are still kind of bad because you can't file them down all the way to resemble a natural wood perch.
Congratulations on your beautiful new baby budgie! I agree with interacting with your new bird so they can bond to you and not feel lonely during the adjustment period. That has always worked well for me. (I have four budgies) Offering millet is good too since it is a soft seed and easier for young birds to open and great for training and becoming friends with your bird. If you like human names you can always go with Georgie, Sammy etc. names that can go easily with either gender. What a lucky little bird to be welcomed into your family! Congratulations!
mhm! i agree with the name thing. i got my first budgie about two months ago, and name it kiwi since it was a male at the store (i think he was at least 6 months old) i got two new budgies about a month ago and they were so young i didn't know the gender, i didn't wanna name it a gender name, i wanted it to be gender neutral, my mother didn't agree because "it's just a bird" but i didn't care, i ended up naming the white one snowflake and the purple one i got lumi! pretty sure lumi is a male and snow is the female because snow is KINDA a b* and lumi is more calm.
Congratulations on your new Budgie! So adorable. I don't like that myth that says to put the bird in the cage for two weeks and ignore it, like that's going to do anything 🤔 It will make the bird afraid of coming out of the cage and may make it territorial. Also it won't make the bird any tamer or less afraid. Interaction on the first day is best! You are a good parront😊
About a year ago i got my first budgies and i watched your channel to learn how to keep them healthy. Now im getting addition to my flock, a third budgie, and here i am. Watching your channel to understand the process of getting a new budgie. Thank you so much for making these videos
No idea how anyone can say leaving a bird alone for the first few weeks is a good idea 🤔 definitely agree with how you guys do it calmly engage with the bird is the best, the new bird is so cute 😍 love your videos
Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that this particular bird does look to be a female (although it’s still very young so we can’t be 100% sure) so make sure to keep an eye on it when it and Pillow are out of their cages together :)
You can tell a budgies gender by the nose color, blue if a boy or pink if a girl and same with feet, blue feet boy and pink if a girl :) Forgot to mention lol boys also have a slightly longer tail than the girls :)
As a proud bird owner of 4 budgies, YES get the bird when it is young. So he/she will bond with you quickly, but if you get a budgie when it is older it might take longer or just be resistant.
Oh, such big eyes. A very cute baby-budgie. Think it's a girl because of the white rings around the holes one the nose (don't know the right english term). We named our second budgie Mo. We first thought it's a boy but then turned out she's a girl. The name stayed because it fits perfect two both genders. And there are many more names, Tony, Andrea, etc. which suit to boths. I'm pretty sure you'll find one.
Roblox Gaming10 can't tell the gender of a budgie until they are 4-6 months old, so you don't really know. i'm looking to buy another two budgies (rainbow budgies) to breed him, but it will be hard because gender,
You can tell the sex of a baby budgie by looking at it's cere color and mutation(all one color budgies have different cere colorations then the rest to determine sex). Baby boy ceres are usually pink, baby girl ceres are usually white or light blue with a white ring around the nostril. They change as they get older (males end up with deep blue, females with white or brown)
You guys are really good you tubers I love watching your videos and especially your bird ones and you guys are really lucky that your birds like actually like you I am planning on buying a cockatiel or a budgie.
· baby/young female budgies will usually have a sorta blue / white cere, and baby/young male budgies will have a light pink cere. · male budgies cere will turn to blue once they get older and bigger. · female budgies cere will turn to a crusty brown then it will turn to a very light color, either a tan, white,or blue with white. · all budgies/birds are different though,so if you really reallyyy want to know and be 100% positive, best to get your budgie checked at the vet to tell if they are female or male. these are just easy ways to indicate whether your bird is male or female
I just saw videos of people busting petco owners/workers after finding these beautiful birds alive in the dumpsters at the back ! Thank God yours was saved, thank you 🙏🏼
You can easily tell the gender of a budgie. If the cere ( colourful nostrals abouth the beak) is pink or purple that means it is a young male. If the cere is blue that means it is an adult male. If the cere is white and an adult female cere is brown and crust showing they are easy to lay.
I guess it's a male. How cuteeee!😍😍😍 my husband is always nervous whenever we go to petshop to buy stuffs for our birds and cat because he knew me sooo well that whenever i see a new birds i always wanted to bring it home😆 we already have 2 cockatiel and 5 budgies😍❤️
Love the new budgie. You can guess the sex by looking at the cere. When young at 6 weeks the cere is slightly larger and fuller and pinkish lavender on the male. It is smaller and flatter and colored whitish to light blue on the female. At 6 months the color will change to blue on the male and pinkish brown on the female.. The males talk so keep talking to him. When kept with other budgies these males tend to talk in budgie talk mostly. If I can see a closeup of the cere maybe I can tell. Please get rid of the bottom shavings It is safer to use paper and change it daily. A good name may be Skye.. Could be male or female name and he is beautiful blue like the sky.
Welcome your new Pet 🤗 The Bird ist soooooo cute 😍😍😍 and has so big eyes 😍😍😍 I love them 😍😍😍😍 I Wish your Family a great Life with your new Friend🐦🤗🤗🤗🤗
I love that little guy! If it’s a girl I was thinking you could call her Casey, I was thinking of that name because it could be cute to think of pillow-case! Casey for full name case for short! Love your videos and the new family member!
I know I’m probably commenting a BIT late on this… but I think Dapple would be a fitting name for this little guy. I’m sure you’re found a perfect name already, but if not, this name could be used for a future budgie, or not at all. Great vid! I love it! Keep it up, guys!
Our kids worked together to name our green budgie Chirpy Pickle, and our white budgie Monet after the painter. We also named our cockatiel Kova after the composer Tchaikovsky. All pretty gender neutral.
I Agree a lot of people don’t interact and then the bird ends up being scared of them and so they would feel bad and leave the bird be but doing this can make the bird think they should be scared and then could cause biting and so the owner won’t wanna interact with it and then the bird would usually end up in the cage all the time
Aww congrats on your new bird 🐦 a cute name would be Peeper as she/ he has that tiny peeping sound as I heard it while she/ he was still on Kevin’s hand
You did the right thing with pillow I messed up when I got my bird I just threw her in the cage and try to train her but she was too scared to come out and now she won't come out anymore 😢 I'm happy for you ❤️
Surprised and happy to see a new bird in your flock! I would name it... Little Bird (L. B. for short) Maybe, Blueberry that could be for a boy or girl. Maybe, Sky again works for either boy or girl. In my personal life I have know a girl named and a boy who had the names listed below: Peyton Conner Shelby Looking forward to whatever name you like for your new bird. 🐦
