Thanks for the review, I really wanted to hear your opinion on this one. I have the previous version for trail and have already 500k on it. Is my top shoe for off road, I am heavier and barreling down the trail..., this is the only shoe that allowed to open up and not destroy my knees. Paradoxically even with the high stack it gives stability, ignores larger rocks and keeps me planted. I am glad to see you like it.
I adore the More v4, and the way you describe the softness and bounce of the v5, reminds me of the Permafrost version of the v4. One of the nice things about the v4, is that you can always find it at some hefty discounts, so I hope this continues with the v5. I do hope the durability is better, because for me they're not as good anymore after 250 K.
I heard this wasn't coming out til August. Glad to hear it's worth the wait. I have the 1080v13 and the Morev4. Really excitied to get this! Thanks for the review!
Dude I don’t know when you were that hyped up the last time about a shoe 😂😂😂😂 You just wanna tell everybody you running into that max cushion is back 😂😂😂😂😂 Man I love it so much when people are so hyped up about something they‘re passioned about 😃😃😃😃 The people I encounter at work are like : „Here we go again. Another Monday morning.“ And not at Mondays 😂😂😂 They‘re in that Monday mood almost every day they „have“ to work 🤷 So I love that hyped up mood 🔥😍
I really like you being on the early list. I often wake up at 2 or 3 in the morning and glad I slept through last night or I'd be super tired this morning. It's seriously impressive that you can do these videos back-to-back. The 1080v10-1080v12 uppers were the stretchiest and I think that they had to drop that stretchy upper because of a Nike lawsuit. The More V3 upper feels stiffer. One of the things that I love about the More is that it is very wide with a rounded toebox. The 1080 is a bit less rounded but I can comfortably fit in the 4E with both of them. I do not know that I need a shoe like this but it's nice to have the choices.
After recently finding your awesome channel, I bought the NB 860v14’s over here in the UK and absolutely love them! Tested well on last week’s trip to Stockholm. You’re a bad influence as now I’m after the NB More v5’s!
The long-winded Aspie rant previously shared was actually 90% longer. I just wasted a solid 6 hours trying to produce the most logical and concise argument that I possibly could for you to somehow make shorter versions of your videos for those of us that don't have enough time to watch hour long videos. And alas, I was not able to share it probably due to the length? I don't know? What a disheartening and ironic other waste of time in an effort to conserve that very resource. Lol! There's got to be a way you can produce shorter videos somehow out of the long ones. The long ones I pains takingly force myself to skip. If its 30 minutes or less I'm probably down if its 20 minutes or less I'm absolutely down 100% of the time. Love your programming just cannot afford the length. Highlights maybe? Idk? But there has to be a solution?!?!?😢
"Max cushion is BACK BABY!" Neighbors: 👁👄👁 Also LOL at anemic giraffe 😂Hilarious! Another certified banger of a first run review! Haven't tried the Fresh Foam More, but this may just be the first one I give a shot. Actually recently got the Mach 6 as per your praise, and absolutely love it! Hearing the More is similar sounds exciting! You deserve the respect and recognition you are finally getting Yowana. Happy for you and thank you for all you do! 👍
Earned an easy sub 👍 ordered a pair of rebel v4's earlier this morning. Then this afternoon I ordered some 1080 v13's. Now I'm looking at getting a pair of these this evening... 😮💨 New balance is killing it. And my bank account lol. Keep up the content and lmk your thoughts on these 3 shoes in rotation. Thank you!
Hahaha new balance is on fire right now. In terms of a rotation with those three, the 1080 and more v5 would have a lot overlap. I absolutely loved the 1080s and have 300 miles on my pair. If I were you I would hold off on getting the more v5 and if you want a third shoe instead get something a faster/bouncier or plated. So I'd use rebel v4 for short and fast, 1080 for everyday miles and then a third shoe for whatever you feel is missing. If you can't stop yourself from getting the more v5 just make sure to use my link in the description 😂 also my wife Charli has been obsessed with them for walking so you could justify it for that if you need to lol. And thank you for the sub! 🙌🏽
@@supwell appreciate your thoughts! Made some very valid points there. Maybe I'll hold off on the impulse buy, for now, and see about getting a plated. Now... Back to binge watching your videos 😂🤙
Now I'm undecided about what max cushioning shoes I will get next to replace my On Cloud Eclipse: Mizuno Wave Sky 8 or the new kid on the block More v5 ! So many great options. I am more inclined to the Mizuno's because it is my number 2 brand and I was not wowed about the Vongo v6. But this More seems great besides the design not being that modern. Tge Wave Sky 8 has dual layer middlesole ( Enerzy and Enerzy Nxt) a rocker , 8mm drop and lost ONLY 35g at size 9 vs. Sky 7. Thanks for your video.
the most entertaining, uplifting, and informative shoe review i have ever had the pleasure of viewing. the pancakes were a wonderful touch:) thank you!
I did however get the On Cloud Eclipse and the Nova Blast 4 and I am shocked just how much I like the Nova Blast 4 my feet are loving the upper and midsole!!!! On Cloud Eclipse is very nice too, but I think I like the Novas better they are just so light!!!!
I ordered mine today for 155 today delivery but I don't know when it ships ill know tomorrow!!!! I been waiting for this for casual wear for sometime now I am a bigger guy so I may wear these out quick but who cares Ill order another pair at this price.
Do you prefer More v5, 1080 v13, or the 860v14 for walking? I am wondering if i should return my 860 for the more v5 if its better for walking. But the More also looks like it may be too much foam underfoot too.
I use running shoes for everything AND running. 1080 v13 is perfect for that. Walking, standing all day, etc. I like Nimbus 26 too. Do you think this one would be good too? For example, I like the novablast 4 to run, but not to just walk and stand, they have I THINK the sole too round, compelling you forward, that make they great only for running for me, do you feel the same?
Yes this is a great one for running and everything else! Very comfortable for casual use. I also didn't like the Novablast 4 for anything other than running
It really is a shame that as someone with big feet, you can only really wear Asics, Saucony, Brooks and Hoka. Some of these New Balance shoes seem interesting, but they are just a bit too small for me.
it felt good for the 20 miles i did yesterday (broken into 2 runs), but i still want to test this one on a long run. it is on the heavier side but like the skyward x it had enough bounce and pep to make up for that. if your long runs are maxing out at 2 hours and below then you should have no problems with this as your long run shoe. anything above that and with faster paces mixed in is where i'd likely prefer a different shoe - but stay tuned for the long run test
I was a huge fan of the More v3 because it was not too soft, super stable, and it had a really smooth rocker. The v4 lost some of that magic but it sounds like they've recaptured it with the v5. I'll probably pass because I don't think I need that much shoe. The Neo Vista is great but it often feels like more than I need. I was just looking wistfully at the new Hyperion 2, which also has a great rocker. I think I can get away with shoes like the Hyperion 2 or SL2 because I'm much lighter and I don't do as many miles as you do.
Strongly agree with your first paragraph about v3. Not every user is identical, naturally. I think my profile is fairly heavy requirement on the medial stability, but v3 (& orthotic) worked.
Dude my head is spinning your pace of running shoe reviews - having cramps wading through which direction I should pull the trigger, hands down More v5 better investment than 1080 Smooth the waters for me Secondly, Throw some Supwell advice my way, with summer heat and humidity recovering day to day challenging - which products should I target
I put 300 miles on my 1080 so it's hard for me to recommend a shoe over it! The stability is a lot better in the more v5 though - so if that's a concern I would go for the more. Also the upper on the more is better for summer running. 1080 is still my pick for ultimate comfort - it feels more relaxed and less bouncy than the more v5 Also in terms of products the number one thing is carbs! Make sure you're getting enough in throughout the day - that's the best thing you can do to stay fueled up. I always eat fast digesting carbs before my run and then get in multiple sources throughout the day, a mix of convenient foods like toast/bagels and then also sweet potatoes, beans etc Also electrolytes and hydration have been huge for me. I feel so much better when I'm hydrated (I use the good old "clear pee" test to know I'm hydrated 😂) and I do notice a mental difference when I have electrolytes alongside plain water. My favorite brands are nuun and LMNT. You can get a 6 pack of nuun on Amazon. Also I've been testing a new brand of electrolytes called Saps that's pretty solid too Hope this helps and shout with any follow up questions
Awesome video. Very long, but I’m a detail-oriented guy and really appreciated your thorough review …so here’s a detailed response / thank you. Have been very happy with my 1080’s that I’ve been using as my daily trainer. My favourite show of all time for my weekly long run (Prime X) finally needs to be retired after ~1200km (outsole gone, otherwise fine), and since I can’t get a Superblast 2 in Canada (at least without paying through the roof to ship across border or overseas), I’ve been looking at the More v5 to replace it. Your review confirmed it should be the perfect long run trainer for me, especially knowing it’s not likely to bottom out after 90-min (ish)+ (which I’ve noticed my 1080’s do after having to used them a handful of times for long runs with my Prime X out of commission). I love Lightstrike pro (firm/responsive) but not worried about softness of fresh foam because my 1080’s have been so incredibly comfortable. And my long runs are mostly easy efforts. But nice to know thanks to the rocker it’ll likely be fine to add a bit of MP from time to time. Also very excited about the seemingly much better outsole rubber on the More v5. I run in the winter and icy conditions and the 1080 outsole would have sucked for it (that I consider similar to NB 3 that I had some slips with). So if the More v5 is anywhere comparable to Continental rubber I’ll be extremely happy. Thanks again for your excellent and detailed review!
I didn’t run in the More V5 but what I can tell you about the 4th illustration of the More is that I have some issues with the upper as well. It‘s hard to describe but it isn’t the greatest upper in the 4th 😅 I ran also in More V3 and on that shoe the upper was a total banger for me 😍 The way how the upper sounded when you rub over it reminds me big time to the More V4 😅🥲
"Beating a dead triumph"..."wider than a greased pig on a Saturday night"...the ever increasing travel and drive length from the Poconos back to NC...golden tidbits
The More V4 was my first shoe bought after a long hiatus from running. Great rocker and large stable platform I think its great for new runners esp if you roll in a bit
I'd go balos if you want fast and fun, more v5 for relaxed miles and comfort and I haven't tried sc trainer v3 yet - but my prediction is it will be the best of the three for long runs. So Balos for a great daily trainer, More v5 if you want ultimate comfort and hold tight on SC Trainer v3!
I'd do the velocity nitro 3 over the sl1. It's a little more versatile and comfortable for longer time on feet. I liked the SL1 but most runners found it too firm
I use the More v4 as a walking shoe, they are extremely cushy-but one problem I have is the plastic heel counter (behind the Achilles) inside the fabric, which is easily folded and can't be fixed once it's folded. This folded plastic behind the heel creates a bump and can get really annoying. My question is, does the More v5 have this inner heel counter material? That is the deal breaker that would stop me from buying this shoe. Thanks Yowana!
The top part of the upper near the Achilles is completely flexible - there's no plastic piece where the letters M and O of the more are. So you shouldn't have this issue with the v5!
I had a similar issue in the v4 achilles area, which was never an issue with the prior v3. For me, at a minimum, the heel-counter padding was not well executed. But, I also feel like the super-squishy gap heel on the v4 was not a great feature, in my case. I probably need a bit more stable structure than those who loved that exaggerated v4 squish..
YM - Finally gets seeded some hotly anticipated shoes, immediately chastises the brand for anti-consumer naming conventions. The People’s Running Shoe Market Analyst. Funniest video yet. Max cushion is back! Anemic giraffe. “6’2”, 125 pounds.” Dying. Also, “What makes a running shoe a running shoe?” is the right question to ask, but I disagree with the conclusion. What we can assume to be “inherent” aren’t just the elements of the shoe themselves but also the scope of their implementation. If you wrapped the outsole all the way around the shoe, would it be inherently waterproof? I will almost certainly buy this shoe, but ain’t nothing inherent about this 5:04.
Agree, on this particular model, because that outsole width might well set a new record. Some users who do great with narrow soles (not me), might be horrified, though. The older Gent (Sam), at RoadTrailRun sometimes throws specific millimeters at us.
You are killing it with the videos Yowana! Thank you. I use the Nike invincible 3 for my easy runs, but I am not the biggest fan. I just feel they aren't mind blowing, would you recommend this as an upgrade to the invincible 3?
Thank you! And this is similar to the invincible in terms of that high stack and soft feel - it's definitely not bouncier though, so if you were disappointed in the invincible's bounce then I wouldn't get the more v5. At a lower price point I'd suggest the Adizero SL2 for that soft bouncy feel. And if you want to spend $200, the balos v1 is the softest and bounciest shoe I've tried this year
Yes I've had a few people now (including my wife charli lol) tell me that they run small in the toebox 😕 - I would try to exchange for half size up or get a wide
I didn't try v4 but the fit on this was snug but comfortable for me. Ran 20 miles in it first day and didn't get any blisters/discomfort from the sidewalls
Could you please compare the fit of the NB Fresh More V5 with the NB 1080 V13? I wear a 2E width in the 1080 V13. Is the V5’s fit standard, or is it similarly narrow like the V13? Thank you.
I loved the more v3, skipped the v4. This makes me think I need to check this one out! Also crushin it getting new shoes asap when they drop! Although just heard the oart about the toe box. Was super wide in v3. Hate if they narrowed it.
I am also in this camp of v3 fans. Had problems with v4. A wide platform with stable geometry, and a good rocker, sounds excellent. Agree that my flattened feet need a wide toe box. If I need to buy the (hopefully) 4E, and a slightly longer size, I am resigned to this possible necessity.
How is the volume? I found the V4 standard wasn't wide enough and the EE, and 4E had way way too much volume for my low instep so I always sent them back. Did like how the V4 felt under foot though.
I just got mine same color way and let me tell ya I get these shoes for walking 8 to 10 miles a day and I am already loving this, this is by far the best new balance shoe I have put on my feet EVER! It fits snug hugging my feet in loving comfortable bliss and the wait was well worth it, I have the nova blast 4, the cloud eclipse, SCT v1, and v2, 1080 v13, and v12, more v4s SCE v4, and this just blows them all away in my opinion, in cushion, the way the upper holds my feet and the soft pillow like upper. I don't have the Balos yet, but I think it can be ordered in August. I ordered this shoe last week on the 3rd from a store close to me Fleet Feet. I couldn't go in and buy it, but I could order it online! This shoe was well worth the wait!!!
So far, 311 miles on my More v4, which I use primarily for recovery runs; and was wondering what to replace it with when it reaches end-of-life (500 mi?). The replacement just might be the v5 instead of the 1080 v13.
Would you recommend something like this for someone trying to up their mileage with long runs who gets a bit of ankle aches and pains after long runs? Or something like the superblast 2 for example? :)
Daymn boi he a thicc ass boi - v4 felt dead (yes I said it) so really interested by this feedback for v5! Great content as always thank you for putting in that work 🙏
i have the V4 and i also get a blister on my left first metatarsal after about 4-6miles, i do have a mild left bunion but i don't get the blister with other shoes
Balos for fast and fun and more v5 for comfort cruising. I ran again in the balos yesterday and it's a blast but not stable and not for relaxed paces - more v5 is a better choice if you want something for those relaxed daily miles
This is way more stable and less speed oriented. I'd take the SL2 for any true workouts or days with pace and this for just a fun cruise. It does have some pep to it but I think I over the life of the shoe it'll perform better as a relaxed mileage shoe
Both are comfortable but this is heavier, more stable and not as bouncy. I could do a few miles of pace pickup in the more v5 but wouldn't want to take it out for any days where I had pace targets - I was running 7 flat/6:50 pace in the balos in pouring rain and it did great. Balos is definitely a faster shoe - more v5 I'd take for walking or for relaxed/everyday miles
@@supwell thanks mate appreciate it! Big fan from australia, always find your reviews and insight helpful before purchasing shoes. - currently having the 1080s v13, superblasts, alphafly 3 and vaporfly 3 in the rotation
