For me the 997 just overall look better and more comfortable. I like high soles and that color way. The grey ones look a little more cheaply put together. I’ve always wanted a pair of new balances and you might have just talked me into giving those a try 🙌🏾

I think you missed a very important difference: 997 has a full “real” robust sole. The 997H partially has no sole and uses the soft, foam midsole as sole.
Good video! But I'm a little surprised by your comment on the quality of the suede and also the comfort. Personally I think the suede on the 997H is fine, but I'd say the quality of the 997 suede is leagues better. As for comfort, the 997 feels like a brick to me, and the 997h is a lot softer, so hearing the opposite being said here is surprising. Hopefully I'm not coming across as a negative critic here, but I just wanted to add my thoughts for anyone else here who's interested in either of these shoes. Oh also, I'd say half size down is accurate for the 997, but the 997H is a little more TTS. Very nice comparison though! Edit: Come to think of it, the 997H I tried was leather, so that might be why it fit TTS. Regardless, try a pair on if you can before you buy. They're almost always in stock at Marshalls.
appreciate the comment! the suede on the 997 is definitely better, but surprisingly on my 997H it's very decent quality. i can also see how the 997 comfort may feel a little stiffer / brickier lol, but definitely subjective, and at least for me, i like that firm stability component. also yes, 997 may run a little bigger so i can see half size down also working if you have a narrow foot or want that very snug fit. i think this comparison could've been better if i had 2 exact/similar colorways to make it more fair; perhaps different colorways may come with different qualities also. appreciate your constructive feedback and thx for stopping by!

Been debating on what size to get on my 997. I'm a size 9 on 997h but I'm 8.5 on 997s. I guess I would have to go for half a size down on 997. Great video btw
FOG TOWN lol for sure, it seems like it’s been a while since some new 997 and 998s have come out, but those are definitely my top few favorite models from NB. I also just got some gore-Tex 574s that I ended up really liking, gonna make a vid on them in the near future

Basically the 997h is the poor man's 997. I have two pair of 997's. I paid 390.00 for both, deadstock one pair is now going for 511.11 the other 1,139.00. Plus the materials are top tier. The pigskin is the absolute best suede that can be placed on a functional shoe.
I couldn’t find the non H model so I hope H doesn’t suck as I ordered two pairs to try on and hopefully keep one. There is no other ones just H currently or I’m blind
yeah at least on newbalance website, they only have the H's available. the 997s tend to be a little more high end and exclusive to certain retailers. a lot of people have asked where i got my pink coastals, but they're sold out everywhere. hope you enjoy your H's though, they're still a great cheaper alternative !

Joes new balance outlet . com , Nordstrom rack, saks5th, to name a few lol, they usually have limited color ways though. I follow a bunch of twitter accounts that post random sneaker deals, and will catch them eventually. but yeah, 997s rarely go on sale, especially the popular color ways
Fernando Gaspar 997 or 997H? true to size should work either way. I think 997H is more true, whereas 997 has a LITTLE more room . Unless you have really wide feet, or like wearing your sneakers loosely , you can 1/2 size down . Another person commented their opinion on sizing too, check it out down below. Wigga Wieger 997 are my absolute favorite NB model. I just like the silhouette of them the best - they’re sleek and more modern . My favorite athlete (Kawhi Leonard) also endorses them . The 992 looks too mature / ‘old’ for me , and the 998 is a cheaper version of the 997 . Again just my opinion! At the end, just buy whatever you like 🙂👍
wow i'm looking everywhere for you but I'm surprised they're sold out in most places! footlocker website has size 8 and 9 left, at full price though... what size are you? i'll keep an eye out for you if i see any restocks. the style code is CM997HCA , and fyi I use reddit and twitter to find my sneaker deals :)
The NB website briefly explains their style number naming system, which generally means that the first few letters indicate the gender and activity (CM probably means classic men), and the last few characters represent the colorway (WLB is white light blue maybe?) tbhnot sure about all the letters in the middle lol - but check New balance style model numbers on their website for more details . I don’t believe so. It’s not labeled, and the outsole just feels a little more firm/less responsive than 997. I THINK they use Revlite foam tech instead
No... It's some generic foam. Been wearing the 997h as an everyday shoe and can walk in them all day... The regular 997s are more stiff but I like it more cause of the stability the encap provides... Either way I'll be buying 997's for the foreseeable future...
