My take will be biased because I only run in New Balance shoes. However, there was that failed ON CloudEclipse attempt in January as I transitioning out of Altra (ran in for 5 years). I was hyped about trying a "somewhat plated" (it's plastic) shoe in the CloudEclipse, but after 100+ miles, it didn't work for my form. New Balance had worked for me in the past, so I bought the 1080 V13 - great shoe, like riding in a Cadillac w/ that foam but a bit narrow in toe. I have two pairs of the Rebel V4's - #1 w/ 120 miles & #2 w/ 88 miles. Great shoe! I can confirm there is a pace where they come alive. If I can only hit that pace more often 😞. Definitely different from the Rebel V3 pair I also have in rotation. The V3 reminds me of the old school shoes from 20-30 years ago, which is why I run in them once per week. There is one shoe in rotation that I really like - the SC Trainer V2 (currently 230+ miles). While It gives me that "pop" I am looking for, I am trying not to run in it more than 2x per week. I don't want to rely on the carbon plate (I'm old school) and the sole is being chewed up more than I expected. I am only 110 pounds and have never had a sole wear this much under 250 miles. The Pacer V2 intrigues me (more than the SC Trainer V4) as it was built for Emily Sisson - I am closer to her weight and height (waaaaayyyy slower 🤣).
I actually didn’t run in the novablast 4. I tried the 2 and felt like those were unstable overall and less bouncy than these though. The novablast 2 (and I’m assuming the 4) are more Mach 6 like in feel to me
@@raddadbodtv Good to know, I snagged the Rebels and Mach 6 based off your videos but will be keeping the Rebels since they fit my wide feet better. Just wondered if it’d be worth giving the Novablast 4 a try. Thanks!
I have over 50 miles on this particular shoe. It has been a very fun shoe for me. I usually do not get a second pair of the same shoe unless it works for me. I did that with the Saucony Speed 3 as I enjoyed that shoe. I see myself doing that again with the Rebel V4
@@raddadbodtv do you think they’d do well as a secondary shoe? looking for another shoe to go along with the 1080v13 that is a bit better for speed work but can still handle some daily work if wanted
I own both. The 1080 V13 is very soft, cosy and comfortable. like a plush sofa. The Rebel V4 is more fresh, noticeable faster. the Rebel v4 is not as plush and cosy, the upper is much more bare bone. I feel they appeal to the same running style I feel. atm im using the V4 to my intervals and runs where it's okay to speed up. The 1080 V13 is used for long runs and slow runs. I love the 1080 V13... im no expert though :D
Id agree with this assessment. The 1080 is more for easy and long the v4 is best for short and fast. That being said the v4 can be used for a daily if you want!
I have put 100miles into mine , still making me smile. That EVA/peba blend really works and if you have a larger volume foot then as long as you size up half a size (for the length) you will be good to go. Looking forward to the upcomming pacer due to my experiance with the rebel v4 (and that is my favorite shoe so far , all others are from 2023)
I wasn’t originally going to grab the pacer since I don’t have a connection at new balance so I pay for all of their shoes haha, after my experience with these and the sc elite though I may have to do it
