Agreed. If someone means powdery or heady floral then they should say that. The "old lady" saying is overdone. I don't personally like this fragrance, but that's because it's too powdery and floral for me. It's beautiful though. I wish I did like it.
I love luminous, I think it smells really good. The ladies in the store told me that it smelled mature, but I didn't care and bought it anyway. I am hoping we get a good sale so I can get more body care to go with the travel spray.
If you love a mature grown woman smell this is it !!! There is no need to reapply throughout the day because it lingers around. I can't wear strong scents, so this was perfect ❤

Claire, you always give the best reviews! I tried a spritz of luminous at the store the other day. My daughter says it stinks and smells like an old lady (she works at BBW). I kind of like it. It reminds me of La Vie Est Belle and Flowerbomb. Might be grabbing it at a sale. Although I already have more BBW than I need. 😊 😊😊😊

Excellent review, as always. I must admit, this entire year has ended up being somewhat disappointing for those of us who love our yummy gourmands. Where's 2023 bake shop? LOL! I'm embarrassed for complaining, it's just I had high hopes for fall, but didn't really get much, and now looking into Christmas, besides Vanilla Bean Noel, are we even getting any bakery scents? All the good fragrances have been in soaps and candles. 😅
@kittywiththeblackhat Thank you, I did see that and that gave me a little bit of a mood boost, most definitely. I wish I liked spice notes better, but I'm looking forward to trying it out. I would have loved the cookie butter truffle in soaps and the raspberry thumbnail in candles for body care. 😂❤️
I also missed the bake shop this year as I thought the pound cake scents weren’t enough. I’m hoping we get some surprise sweet scents for holiday or body care day. 🤞🏼
I want the body care & candle for sure! I am a La Vie Est Belle fan & I like Sensual Amber so it was a yes for me. The dry down is different tho & I am here for it!
Great review! After seeing this I picked up the body mist for myself. To me its almost La Vie Est Belle which I only have a sample of. I have Flowerbomb and feel that Flowerbomb is a little smoother where Luminous is a little sharp. To be honest, I love the Dossier dupe of Flowerbomb better that the OG. Dossier's dupe is 98% Luminous
Hi there! My Luminous arrived yesterday and I don't like it by just sniffing the lid so far. The true test will be on my skin of course. The packaging is top notch! Its festive and classy! It would look great on a vanity. Tfs ❤
I somehow don't hate Into the Night and still determining Fearless but Luminous, Dahlia, Flowerbomb, La Vie Este Belle are not for me. Thank you for the review! So concise and accurate!
I, definitely gonna be buying this fragrance based on your review. Also, I’m in between the whole “some fragrances are meant for older or younger crowds” I definitely think there are some fragrances out there that are more suitable for an older crowd like Chanel fragrances……I know do them to be used more by much older women, and a B&BW fragrance that has been known to give off that vibe is Japanese Cherry Blossom which I have and can I kind of sense that vibe. Then there’s fragrances that are more known to be used by younger crowds so like a lot of VS and Pink fragrances…Bare Vanilla, Velvet Petals, Bombshell, etc I see what more people in their teens and 20’s-30’s using them. Now that’s not to say that all ages can use any fragrances, but I think it’s just a more known thing that some fragrances are more popular to be specific age groups.
This isn’t true for me. I’m over 50 and I prefer simple sweet, fresh, or fruity scents. I’ve tried to like florals like Gucci Bloom, or Chanel, My Way, etc (which people say is sweet) but strong sharp florals do nothing for me, fall flat, and are overwhelming to me. Same with powdery florals (wonder if it’s Iris) that smell musty to me. I’m sure they’re gorgeous on others, but they’re the kind of scents I dread being on an elevator with or walking behind in a crowd. It’s not that I associate old lady, it’s more musty and heavy, like potpourri in a bathroom in the 80’s of 90’s. I don’t understand why super complex florals are considered mature - my husband can’t stand them either and they make him sneeze. I tried Luminous Body lotion on one tiny spot on my arm and I couldn’t even wash it off at the end of the day. But I bought it because it smelled spicy and good in the store - spicy but not powdery. I think there’s a 50% chance I will feel the opposite when I get home - I literally couldn’t stand Fairy Tale at first but sprayed it on my shirt and kind of liked it - so I have no idea what my nose is doing. But just because a scent is sweet doesn’t mean I’ll like it either, as Strawberry Pound Cake, Cloud, Philosophy fresh cream have a strange undertone. Even Libra that people say is office safe and good for everyday smells nauseating to me, and so is Burberry Her Elixir - burnt plastic. I recently discovered I love Together Weather, Ivory Cashmere, Snowflakes and Cashmere, VS Bare, Sunrise Woods, Bare Rose, Bombshell Intense (don’t love the original), and I can’t go wrong with Scandalous or Eau So Sexy - the problem is ALL of the GORGEOUS scents I loved 20 years ago were reformulated and now they are a synthetic mess - Very Sexy For Her (now very Sexy), and Heavenly were alluring non middle school fragrances that I couldn’t get enough of, but now they bother my nose. So I gave up because all the magic has been taken away. Just give me Basic Vanilla or Salt Air and I’m good, and get compliments from my daughter, and she hates berry sweet ones (my favorite ones). And ironically for hating florals I love the single note of rose - pure smelling, not mixed.
I have the mini perfume in this scent and it smells heavenly just wish it was stronger and long lasting... After spraying it on wrist 2 hours later it disappeared ... I tried the mist and it seemed stronger then the perfume lol tfs
Thank you so much for the great video! I tested the luminous mist today and actually to my nose it smelled like a repackage of BBW Little Black Party Dress! It also reminded me a bit of “thousand wishes” as well as “into the night” - they all share that evening patchouli note!
I really like Luminous honestly! What's funny is I really don't like La Vie Est Belle at all, but I love Luminous and Flowerbomb. On my skin, Flowerbomb smells like sweet honey, but LVEB smells like old lipstick. And Luminous takes the good parts of LVEB and makes it smell better on my skin. I also see the similarities between Luminous and Flowerbomb and I actually like pairing them together because I find Flowerbomb fades on me pretty quickly (either that or I got anosmic to it) and Luminous I can smell for hours on me even with just the shower gel and lotion! Overall, I'm happy I've found another hit at B&BW! The last one I adored was Emerald Mist and so it was great to find another one that I know I'm not going to get tired of smelling.
I was very surprised to smell luminous after hearing everyone say it smelled like and I quote “old ladies” first of all that’s a bit rude. Second of all, it doesn’t smell like something my grandma would wear at all to me, it’s just not necessary something that smells like a high school girl would wear.
Well we all have different senses of smell so I just got mines I don’t like it but I don’t hate it either idk seem like a scent that’ll grow on me the packaging gets 1000/10 I love it
I tried it in the store yesterday and I loved it, I wore it for about 7 hours and still could smell it. I don't like Dahlia at all, I don't think they smell anything alike. I like Luminous much better.
Does this smell like their discontinued Forever Red? My Husband always LOVED Forever Red and I've been trying to find something similar. Has anyone else used Forever Red in the past & can tell me if it is Forever Red brought back or more like their old Amber scent? I have a disability and can't get to the store (80miles there & back). I've been out to a Bath and body's small inside side shop that they have. And they didn't have it out. They just had the tiny spray bottle. So you couldn't really smell too much sampling the perfume. I wasn't gonna spend $8 on something. If I didn't like it, i'd rather sample the spray when it arrives, which was last 22nd of September. They were supposed to have it, I'm very disappointed. I've been twice, and they still didn't have it. So maybe now they do since you're showing your review. I'm usually up on the up on all the space and the new space that come out. Out i'm disappointed that they didn't have it
Luminous reminds me of Snowflakes & Cashmere. Like a Sister scent. It must be that powdery note. Edited to add, Dahlia seems much more floral to me than Luminous and unfortunately gives me a headache.
Did bath and body discontinued luminous products ? It’s not available in Canada ? Oh well I hate when bath and body does this. Saw eBay selling it for like $25 bucks . Someone trying to make some extra cash. Well not interested in bath and body works anymore there scents are not like before .
