I'm so glad to hear you liked the red bean mask even with dry skin! I got a little sample of the tatcha clay mask in a sephoria box and I really enjoy how it doesn't dry down but I'd never spend $70 on a clay mask. I have oily skin and clay masks help congestion but I hate the tightening sensation and feeling totally dried out. I wasn't sure if there were other non drying clay masks out there. It's so encouraging to hear!
SERIOUSLY. I’ve done the overpriced clay masks before, and I honestly regret it. They can be wonderful products, but imo they just aren’t on the skin long enough to justify …hmm. Let’s call it “overly curated antioxidants” (that are typically water soluble SIIIIGH). BoJ not only made theirs well, but they priced it right! 😍
Yamaimo is MUCH more stinky that anything on earth..Well almost..LOL..To me it's nothing like the earth scent of snail mucin products..Just my opinion..Yes I lived in Japan many years..

The texture of the yam cleanser makes sense if you've ever sliced a mountain yam! Wonder if it's a similar draw as the natto bean products w the hydrating saccarides? (forgive me if you were being facetious) but the red beans are used are different from red kidney beans, they're adzuki beans, often used for desserts, like in mochis or as a soup with soft desert tofu and taro balls! Def rec a go if you get the chance to taste something like that! Or let me know if I'm just woefully ignorant of Louisiana cuisine 😂
That’s such a good question. I can’t seem to find the composition of Phaseolus angularis that BoJ is using (perhaps because it seems much more popular in the East?) I did find some research looking into anti-inflammatory properties, but I’d love to know the chemical explanation for why it feels hydrating!
I didn't know they came out with the yam toner or the moisturizer I knew about the cleanser. Did u see purito came out with an oat milk toner and moisturizer that intrigued me too the oat milk toner was in Kelly's Driscoll's Dec favs . U seem very excited about these products u had me cracking up. I actually have not had dry or peeling skin even with the cold amazingly this year it's the first . I been using the biosionse elderberry squalene cleanser morning and night as the only cleanse Niod mist iope essence needless serum, cosrx proplolis toner 2 layers, Dr C kombucha then dear klairs fudemental mist and biosionse copper peptide then curel milk emulsion Dear klairs fudemental butter as eye serum Benton fermentation eye cream and cosrx rice mask as moisturizer or a moisturizer then the rice mask . See I also love my skincare routine too I always do alot of steps lol 😂

With enjoying skincare... the more I have learned about skincare, the more "fun" and cool the products have become (not through being expensive), and the more I enjoy using them. Even the super boring products become more fun than they were, because there's reasoning and purpose behind all the decisions, and they still do the cool stuff you want them to do, and not being super expensive but still being what you need, is also cool in it's own way lol. Like eating cereal with a typical spoon, compared to eating cereal with a spoon that you carved from a certain wood with certain tools, with knowledge and reasoning behind it all. Then eating cereal becomes far more enjoyable than it was. So I suppose this falls under, taking an interest in the thing. If ya don't give a shit about the products or really how they wear, within reason, then this isn't going to be the route. In that case I would find ways to streamline the process. Being efficient with the skincare steps and energy, while still getting enough of what you want out of it. Playing music might help, or multitasking with a podcast or something, so as it doesn't feel like it's getting quite as in the way of what you'd rather be doing.
Wow, the beauty of joseon red bean moisturizer and isntree yam moisturizer sound beyond nice! I love the Purito deep sea water cream, which is a surprisingly occlusive gel type moisturizer but its ingredient list doesn't stand up to that red bean one. Those ingredient lists are unbelievable and those prices are great, western brands just can't even pretend to compete!
Exact same thoughts over here! K-Beauty brands are so good at creating these gorgeous ingredients lists, and yet somehow keeping the price low and the texture nice as well? It’s incredible!
Do you have tips on how folks can be sure they are getting legit brand products when ordering from any site where the potential purchasers may not be able to read the language on the labels? Penny wasn't the only one to give you a shout out. Lab Muffin also did in her recent k-beauty video.
That’s a great question! I’d say to check and make sure the retailer is “an authorized retailer of ___” (this will be listed somewhere on the site or you can ask brands via their IG!) For example, all the K-Beauty retailers I talk about are indeed authorized and work with the brands they stock too. As for smaller retailers (or..like poshmark?) tbh it really gets tricky. Especially because packaging variation can and does happen. I don’t have easy answers there sadly YES she did!! It was utterly bizarre to see my own picture in one of my own favs videos 😭😭

This is so ridiculous...I saw a review you did a while ago and you were wearing this awesome sun hat, it has a print on the inside, a wide brim, and Adjustable brim. So I've spent an embarrassing amount of time looking on YesStyle for this hat, to no avail. A long shot I know, but is there a tag or brand name anywhere on it?...I didn't even see anything similar with an adjustable brim. Hiking outside a hat is essential but sometimes it would be nice to roll up the brim a bit to suit the activity. And the print inside is so girly, love it.
Ah I love that hat so much but it’s discontinued 😭😭 however, the brand is elgado and they do have some similar styles on YesStyle. But without the floral lining for some reason 😢
Everything you said about the yam cleanser is what I was thinking as I used it this morning. Anyone who sleeps in a warm and/or dry room would enjoy the hydrating feeling you get from using this as a morning cleanser. I also tend to cleanse my face longer with this because my skin really seems to enjoy the nourishment.
That Isntree cleanser has sunflower oil as the second ingredient, which makes me think it'll be good as a first cleanse in the evening, if you're into that. I wouldn't use it as a single cleanse; I'd be worried my other products wouldn't sink in.

Does dry skin cause comedogenic ? How to choose non-comedogenic daily moisturizer which ingredient should I avoid and should look for ? I am new to skincare and whatever I buy moisturizer when I use it always clog my pore cause comedogenic

I admit that my brain initially went “noooo way”, but as I sit here Thinker-esque style pondering this (😆) - that’s a very good point. You’re spot on that we do wash frequently enough that it shouldn’t matter. Maybe I’ll be more diligent in hand care if I don’t feel I need to use a heavyweight hand cream! As for the facial routine, I have to admit that I absolutely love using my skincare brushes. I don’t think you necessarily need to spend extra on them (I’ve seen elf advertise skincare brushes and honestly - any ol’ brush can probably work lol). But I do love the sensation, especially combined with how easy the cleanup is? It’s not like cleaning makeup off brushes, instead it washes away in seconds! Very optional, but admittedly something I certainly enjoy. Happy New Years!! 🥳

I also find you can go even lighter with moisturizers if you add a toner underneath :) I will try to look into using the elf ones or maybe see if i can use a brush from my small makeup collection to see how i like it before investing in a set 🤔 Happy new years
As always, Alice, you’ve solved a skincare issue I’ve recently been having. I think the red bean gel just might be the light moisturizer I need to use under the Isa Knox spf I’ve been using. Any of my heavier moisturizers seem like too much with it, yet I absolutely love that spf. Thanks!
I like to make as sensorial as possible (even though I have to avoid fragrance). I mostly do this through using lots of different textures. Clay things, creamy, jelly, milky, bubbly, watery, slippery, etc. things. As long as it works for me, even something oily. And I pay attention to what it's doing and how it's layering. I kind of examine my skin beforehand, and then lay out what I've decided to use based on that. I thought that was maybe odd of me, until everyone started talking about skin cycling, haha.
hi Love your channel, loved that u compared the isntree milk cleanser to the sioris milk cleanser, can u also compare the red bean mask to the heimish pink clay mask, and the isntree milk toner to the I'm from rice toner. These really helps us buy the products.
Oooh I've been searching for a dupe for the pure gel texture of the P&L glass skin gel that is fragrance free, and I'm gonna have to give the boj red bean gel a try asap! I honestly just love the cooling sensation on my sensitive skin, and paired with a thicker moisturizer they work so well for me.

I'm a little ahead of you on the Yam. It was nice enough, but I do prefer my Cosrx Snail 96. They're going for that stringy snail in the vegan formulation.

You can't have a dry skin and acne prone skin.. it's impossible.. And you have dry skin and use gel cream ? I have a very dry skin and use thick moisturisers..
Acne can have many different causes, which is part of what makes it so tricky to treat! For people with dry skin, yes it will not be due to an overproduction of oil - you’re right in that aspect. But we can have hormonal causes, bacterial causes, inflammatory, etc!
