The city will feel a lot more welcoming as the weather improves and everybody spends all their time outside. Many more odd jobs and stuff to pick up during those seasons also. One thing you could look into is uber eats and whatnot, because in toronto it's dense enough they hire 'walkers' who deliver food without even needing a bike. Also check out the public libraries, they have a ton of random services and stuff that are either free or cheap and they are often overlooked.

We moved here from Germany 15 years ago and we hate it here. Toronto and the whole GTA, is an absolute mess. We now bought a house in New Brunswick and are making plans to leave Ontario soon. Except for jobs, Toronto has little to offer unless you love condos, no decent parks, no public transit, insane traffic, being perpetually poor with a good income and zero character, if you love those things than this is the city for you.

Oh, Toronto, what a gem of a city, especially now that we're living the post-COVID dream. It's just delightful how in places like FreshCo, which you were shopping your groceries in this video, you can always count on someone eagle-eyed to ensure no one walks off with that precious loaf of bread. The dedication to security is truly heartwarming. And what a great city to find new friends! We've truly mastered the art of connection here. Seven whole days of waiting for a response, and finally, our old friend decides to grace us with their presence. It's just a lovely reminder of how absolutely jam-packed and fulfilling life is here in the not-so-great city of Toronto. But hey, at least we're keeping busy, right?

@@Trigger200284 Why did you have such a bad experience visiting?
@Trigger200284
@Trigger200284 6 месяцев назад
@@torink8229 Because it's a cramped, over run city with the worst traffic on the continent besides Mexico city. The whole city is packed with foreigners that don't speak English or even French and don't share the values I was brought up in this country. You have to either be a millionaire to survive there or live 20 to a house(or lets be honest, apartment, no one can afford a house there). Just staying for a week cost so much money it was completely unexpected. 25 dollars a beer at the Jays game, over valued seats, I can go to an American baseball game for well under 100 bucks but the Jays game nearly bankrupted me. Everywhere around the city there's just mounds of pushed up ground with overgrowth along the highways like we were in Bosnia or Kosovo in the 90's with half erected buildings rotting that will never be finished, just wasting good space that could be used for housing. Over crowded train system full of people that made me uncomfortable in my own country. Hotels that were like 500+ a night for nothing special, restaurants that thought that their food was worth hundreds of dollars for nothing special. Going downtown and watching crackheads steal from local stores and sleep on adjacent stoops, strung out. Tent cities and police forcing homeless to move because it looks bad, the homeless wearing masks so that they can't be identified from embarrassment. The very first time I seen the CN tower my only thought was "I've known about this thing as the tallest building on the planet for 30 years and it is honestly NOTHING special or even that impressive to look at. I knew there was allot of Indians, Pakistanis, Chinese, Koreans and races like that, but all the preparation in the world could not of prepared me for the sheer amount of them there, and they all look like life has been them into a sack of utter sadness and despair. I felt like I was in a far away country and the only place I seen white or black people was in gridlock on the highway looking into other cars, and the Jays game. That city is an embarrassment to Canada and we should of let the Americans have it when they wanted it hundreds of years ago.

Hi from a relatively fresh immigrant. Nobody who ever tried to live here remains without impression: people or love it, or hate it, and there is nothing in between. It has a mild climate by Canadian standards. And it is warm (but not too warm) in other seasons. It IS very expensive, but it has a lot to offer, and if you want to live on your foot (meaning not to depend on a car) it is one of the best (if not the best at all) option in the whole North America, not in Canda only. It is very diverse in terms of people and neighbouhoods. And there are nicest and kindest people I have ever seen in my life. Wish God bless you here and you it will become a new home for you. P.S. Visit St Lawrence Market for groceries - it is worth it.

We are from Prague, already living here for 5 years in downtown Toronto. Despite me and my wife being software engineers and having really nice salaries we really can't grasp ever owning a house here. Even basic stuff is ridiculously expensive due to little competition and heavy governmental regulations, unlike in the States. You will experience here what Eastern Germany's socialism was all about :D

Great video man! I’m a German too and moved to this wonderful city about 5 months ago. The start here can be a little bit tricky due the high coast of living but once you figured it out, the city is yours to enjoy. Welcome to Toronto!

Interesting! What do you like most about Toronto? German cities (especially München, Frankfurt, Berlin) are surely much better than Toronto (in terms of infrastructure, crime rate, views, healthcare, culture, etc) no?
@E99-c1x
@E99-c1x 6 месяцев назад
@@frank188 Well I like a lot about Toronto, sometimes it’s the small things that add up together. I like the generally relaxed lifestyle here (compared the Germany), I like how open-minded most people are, if u like small talk it’s very easy to chat for a bit with total strangers, I like the parks especially the islands, I love how vibrant the city is on on a sunny day, the multiculturalism and the general diversity of the city. There sure is a lot of work to do in this city (cost of living, the TTC …). But overall I enjoy living here. And sure you have a point in terms of transportation in major German cities, TTC got a lot of work to do. In terms of crime, Toronto by my standards feels like a pretty safe city, I’ve felt more unsafe sometimes in my small town back in south Germany than I ever felt in Toronto. But that’s just my personal point of view on this city, I’m sure the experience can be different for everyone living here.

Make sure you get out of the downtown core and visit all the neighbourhoods, like High Park, the Beach, Little Italy, etc.

Hey, welcome to Toronto!! Trust me. You will enjoy it here. I moved here in 2018 as a permanent resident and became a citizen by 2022. I'm a survivor and lived on 3 different continents in major cities - Hong Kong, Mumbai -- asia Pacific London(UK) -- western Europe and now settled in Toronto -- north america. I wanted to move here with little savings and was ready to be homeless and face survival against all odds and I found a way. This is what makes us human. We only have one shot of life on this planet and have to make the best of it. Endure and survive!!

Toronto is the worst place in Canada to live right now, I left Toronto after living there for 20 years, used to be a world class city but it no longer is, but good luck to you brother Also Toronto is not very cold so if you think it’s cold you’re going to be in a for a shock when you go north where it’s windy

I’m so in awe of your bravery! I also wanted to mention if you didn’t know about it yet - the store Dollarama offers really affordable options. They have some containers (like the ones you bought for lunch), seasoning for food, different dry foods, socks, etc.

Just curious, how did you attain residency permit without a job lined up?

Most likely a working holiday visa. I think Germans can do it. I used to live in Germany on a work visa and then moved to Canada. It’s a constant struggle living on restrictive work visas

I recommend trying out the PATH system downtown where you can travel underground between buildings without stepping outside as much as possible, assuming you're downtown a lot.

I went to Toronto back in 1980 and it was a great place. Even during the early 1990's it was okay. Toronto nowadays is too sterile and expensive. Everything that made it great in the 80's and 90's has been evaporated. Good luck out there. It's going to be rough though.
