NEW ~ Benchmade Shootout Seasonal Sage Green (5370BK-07) 

You know, I'm not a Benchmade hater by any means, but they were price-gouging on OTF autos until the Kershaw Live Wire was released. Now they they've come down in price a bit, by necessity, since there's finally a little bit of competition other than just Microtech, but they still price this at $100 more than a Magnacut Tanto Live Wire, when the Live Wire has better fit and finish, tighter lockup, and a much nicer deployment action. I'd advise anyone to get the Live Wire first, if you don't already have one.

The shootout is great. Love my seafoam and red/orange ones. Great edc, great slicer.

I like the color, but these lanyard loops are goofier than the glassbreakers. As Shabazz said, “[OTF’s deployment is] loud and proud every time.” The novelty wore off for me. Of the seasonal colors I think my favorite was the Mesa Red and Seafoam, and I also liked pinkish Alpine color (I forget the exact name). How did you beat Benchmade’s model notification email with this video, Zach? 🤔 9:58 ~1% chance I believe an “accidental deployment” story from a double action OTF 🙄🤷‍♀️ Orders of magnitude more plausible from single actions and OTS. I like the sage! I want to see the gold accents in person before I pull the trigger.

It's a good looking OTF, but I feel like it's overpriced for grivory, when you have the Livewire and even the Axial Shift coming in at a lower price point. The Microtech Ultratech is around the same price as well. Just things to keep in mind.

At least when Spyderco tries to sell you the same knife multiple times they’ll usually put it in a new steel. Don’t see the appeal of these seasonal releases that are just different colored plastics.
