Tbh I've never seen Bentley as a direct rival to RR. I've always thought Bentley to be more of a driver's luxury car and RR as a passenger's luxury car :/

It actually fell off not because of lack of smoothness, but because he revved the engine to quickly, causing it to rock on it's mountings. More gentle use of the throttle and that probably wouldn't have happened.
