Got a new bike this year! These things are expensive in the used market so I bought a new one! full coverage insurance is only $154.77 for the whole year.
Used prices were laughable right! LOL...... I drove 5 minutes to my dealership, gave them $500 down, done!...it's been a rough couple years....I need something new to ride and explore. I chose the "S" model, because I already have street motorcycles, and just need something to explore off-road. It's been an awesome bike so far. Definitely takes some getting used to, my first dirt bike ever....but it was totally worth it.
Awesome bike. In Australia these bikes are discontinued from 2023 because ALL new bikes, including scooters must have ABS. I missed out on buying a new one, none left in Australia, but I picked up a 2021 with low mileage and some mods done. I've owned all sorts of bikes over the years but these things are the best for fun without going to jail! Great video mate!
Nice bike. Got mine (same color) last fall. Besides rear preload (and it's a pain to get to), I think the only other mod you should consider is changing out the headlight. I found the stock ones to be dangerously underpowered so I installed LED ones. Other owners convinced me to buy case savers to protect the sides of the magnesium case from being punctured/damaged if you accidentally drop the bike. You can buy them on Thumpertalk or Amazon for under $50. I went with the Thumpertalk ones as they came with the mounting epoxy and fit without having to do any other mods (like grinding down the foot levers) to fit them. I didn't like the weird feeling through the handlebars and installed Zeta Rubber Killers to make the steering feel less limp (will also save you from headaches if you drop your bike). For about $80 and some basic mechanics tools, you can rejet the carb with a carb kit, and do the 3x3 mod. Without any changes to the intake and exhaust you can net about an extra horsepower or two. With a more open pipe (just be careful cuz they can get LOUD) and header, you can gain another horsepower or two. Power mods on these things get pretty addictive as they're easy to install (tho not relatively cheap). I took the tool bag off, changed the seat to lower the seat height by an inch as well as add comfort, put on a tail tidy (and the rear tail still protects you from getting wet/mud) as well as a new pipe, header, 3x3 mod that I mentioned, just so I could save a little more weight and make the bike feel more lively. Just a friendly suggestion, but you may want to rethink keeping your concealed in the bag as I've known guys to forget to take it out, and then have it stolen. It also happens to be the first place people check for belongings if you happen to walk away from the bike (like going inside for a drink while refueling). I happened to catch a kid trying to unzip it once. Caught him before he could walk away with my tool kit.
I know what you mean, I sold my 2015 r6 and got a drz400sm. I looked into new just really didn’t want to spend that much. Found a 2009 with 7800 miles local to me for $5k and paid $4700, had yoshi pipe, fender eliminator and a few other mods. I tried buying some newer ones for the $6000 range but nobody would reply. New isn’t the easiest to find, tried to get one brand new 300 miles for like 6700 but just couldn’t make it happen. Been happy with it so far though, just want some knobbies for it
Monkey/ Tw200/DRZ. Same 3 bikes I want. Just picked up my which 2022 DRZ SM 2 weeks ago. Same as yours (white) I like the 2022 plastics better then the new 2023 so glad I bought when I did

You don't need to change the stock headlight housing.... You just need an H11 LED in the stock housing and it makes a HUGE difference.... I did a 3x3 airbox mod, full exhaust, and rejet.... and that makes the bike 110% different.... out of the box they are a sluggish turd but it doesnt take much to wake them up... I have a little over 13,000 miles on my 2019 400sm now and have had 0 issues with the bike.
Good purchase. I'm buying that exact bike in 2 weeks. Put $1k down. Going to give them another $4k to keep the payments low. May as well buy new. Used prices are ridiculous.
I have a 2020 DRZ400SM and I did quite a few mods to it. One of the early mods I did was upgrade the tires. The stock Dunlop tires that Suzuki puts on these are garbage. They weren't sticky and took quite a while to warm up. They're supposed to be long lasting. They may be, but the performance was lacking. I upgraded to a set of Michelin Pilot Power 2CT and they're amazing.
I used to pocket carry and shoulder carry when riding. I don't go to ghetto places anymore like I used to when I did inspections for foreclosed properties. I usually carry a LCP in my pocket.
