THANKS! Hope to be back in our home in a month or so. Still rebuilding. City permits take forever and are a major headache. I'm in Cape Coral. We were just in Matlacha yesterday fishing and kayaking. Matlacha still has homes half in water and half out. Looks terrible. Amidst the disaster I see tons of wildlife and marine life thriving so that makes me happy to see. Have had some of the largest variation and overall large size fish in our canal this week.

@@KayakDIY awesome, hope all goes well, i have been part of relief for many hurricanes since way back to andrew, hugo etc. Its amazing how wildlife just adapts and moves on. Mother nature is cruel at times but there is so much that people just don't understand until it happens to them.. just remember it will be alright, all the stuff thats gone is not important, just that everyone is ok, happy easter to you and the family . Thats what is important.

*It will totally fit your board.* That board of yours uses a US standard fin. Bixpy had a US Standard fin adapter. bixpy.com/us-fin-adapter-k-1-j-2-motors/?gclid=CjwKCAjw36GjBhAkEiwAKwIWyaKvHnx5Hh_RhDWezMbrCJvgGIZ60TnyW396gIne4ebm7s2YqgGvWxoC5goQAvD_BwE&aff=9 They have Bixpy dealers in UK. Fortunately, the value of this gold-plated trolling motor is left to your imagination.

In our state, a motor on any watercraft means it has to get registered every year and display it's number on the bow. 1K up front (sales tax) and 150 yr here in IN on my efoil (same status)
@KayakDIY
@KayakDIY Год назад
If you can itemize your watercraft/efoil to separate cost of board and the battery/motor wing that may help. Likely can just pay sales tax on the board. Technically that is what they would consider the vessel. The motor could be considered separate like on other boats/vessels. I imagine the motor and battery are the expensive part which jack up the sales tax. The yearly cost is high though for your state compared to states I have lived in.
@waymanbell
@waymanbell Год назад
Correcto, in Arkansas I don't need to register my 16 foot canoe but if I install Any king of motor on it or my 8 foot kayak I am then required to go down to the Revenue Office and pay an annual registration fee and put the numbers on my $200 kayak or canoe!! The Government has become disgustingly oppressive!

Do I HAVE to use the Bixby battery???
@KayakDIY

Yes because of the voltage requirements and wireless remote control features you need to use the Bixpy battery. You can’t use a standard 12v. Bixpy has a solar panel which lets you charge the battery. Pretty cool feature for long trips or kayak camping adventures.

@KayakDIY

They do a max of about 6-7mph on the best hydrodynamic watercrafts. On most large heavy & wide fishing kayaks they do around 4mph top. On long narrow touring hull kayaks they can hit 6mph. On lightweight inflatable sups they can do 5mph+. Where this product shines is it is very well sealed unlike trolling motors. You can throw this motor and battery in the water and it won’t damage it. Battery floats. All connections are watertight. Battery life is really good in lower speed settings and provides me all day runtime. Lastly, it just is super easy and clean to mount on any watercraft. The average pedal kayak with comfortable pedaling will do 3-3.5mph. If pedaling hard you can hit 5mph+ in short bursts. So a motor that gets you 3mph+ for long periods is pretty good. Kayaks are displacement hills so they aren’t designed typically for planing high speeds anyway.

how is this much different then the J2?
@KayakDIY
@KayakDIY Год назад
Just improved upon the J2 by reducing size, reducing noise, and squeezing more power. Also the latest Pro Angler battery pairs up nice for longer run times. I'm a J2 owner and I am not selling mine to buy the K1. However, if I didn't have J2 I would totally be a K1 customer.

What an amazing world. I have wanted to get a boat for a long time. But now, I can power my small watercraft, Canoe's and Kayaks. Though I don't know that this is available near me. Just a midwest man. We don't tend to buy things from far away.

The performance and ease of install on so many watercraft still makes it the best in that category. The power you get from the small package is impressive. The build quality is great and the replacement parts like props are cheap when needed. *I own another motor company in this space. I'm surprised they didn't use a torroidal prop....
@KayakDIY
@KayakDIY Год назад
Definitely a quieter prop design. However, I feel at that size it would just be more to fail. The material would have thin spots if using a toroidal prop design. Also I question weeds getting jammed easier into toroidal prop with the housing cone. Definitely game changer on large boats. Just not sure it would produce enough benefit to Bixpy and would likely increase points of failure.
@jaaron2834
@jaaron2834 Год назад
Exactly…! But the real toroidal props cost a fortune… but I suppose it can be printed as well…. but why are they calling this a jet … when clearly it’s NOT …!!!
