I was shocked when she said "akara" is beancake. Everyone I know calls moi- moi bean cake right from the late 90's. The food prep for moi-moi says it all.

I learnt the best way from my friend years back. Place beans in a bowl, add enough water to soak beans, pour out the water immediately and start scrubbing vigorously. The peels will come off faster than if you soak in water for a while. Then strain off all the peels with plenty water.
