Now if we could get this to more cities. You can bet the car, gas, airline lobbyist would be in full force to stop it. We need more options even if they are not high speed. Love to be able to take a train down to California from AZ .

I think what people fail to see in this is that this is just the start of something greater in the future for transportation. Seeing the people thinking that it is blasphemous for the time to travel is about the same as a flight or a car ride doesn't see the bigger picture. Cars have to deal with actual manual travel with the addition of potential delays with crashes on the interstate or large congestions, and even just the potential of the car needing gas or a break in between travel. Traveling by plane is similar in travel time despite the travel time difference, you have to obviously account for a numerous amount of factors including TSA Security, arriving at the airport two hours prior per domestic flights, boarding AND deplaning after. You can buy a low-cost flight like Spirit or Frontier, but those obviously comes with added fees with those carriers. So in the end, whichever you prefer in forms of travel, Brightline's 125 mph rides from ORL to MIA feels refreshing and can be improved upon in the years to come. Moreover, true high speed rail is possible on the west coast, and I do hope with this addition now, the allure of high speed rail can be expanded upon elsewhere.

we should call this higher speed train instead of high-speed train. there is conceptual difference between these two. The engineering challenges are not even comparable. Like our so called 5G network, 5G spots would be more appropriate per my experience in the Bay area. We are so behind on these key infrastructures, sadly

According to the Federal Railroad Administration, Brightline has received a total of $530 million in CRIS grants as of August 4, 2023. Brightline is currently seeking a $3.75 billion federal grant through the Federal-State Partnership for Intercity Passenger Rail Grant Program (FSP). It is important to note that tax-exempt bonds are a public-private partnership, and the savings to Brightline are ultimately borne by taxpayers. SO MUCH FOR A "PRIVATE MONEY" RAILROAD
