Expect your new budgie to sit very quietly in its new cage, not moving, not eating, not chirping, and trying to show that it is uncomfortable and afraid. Taming a new budgie can take somewhere between three to four weeks.

My daughter get a pair from my parents and later one has die but but the other one is noisy at night and at day he dnt like to hear a plastic bag sounds because he thinks it crackers , he loves crackers n cookies but he dnt come on my fingers . My daughter name him crazy

When I bought my budgie, it was doing nothing, it was so afraid. Here in Brazil, usually the feeders are at the bottom of the cage, it didn't come down to eat. So I bought a feeder that is at the top, and after three days he starts to eat.

When I brought my budgie home I just let him loose to check out the house LoL he was pretty freaked out but I was able to get him on a perch to put him in his cage at night. He has been cage free daily since. Recently he put up a fight to go cage free full time and he got his way LoL he's quite tame and seemed comfortable with the way I introduced him.

I was scared a lot when my new budgie, ace wasn’t eating and drinking. Then I had to go somewhere for a while and he was on his perch!

I got a new budgie yesterday, and he didnt do anything or make any sounds for a few hours then he began eating a bit so i was exited. he began eating millet from my hand the same day. i can touch his feet a little and tap his belly, but he won't step up on my hand or anything. im really just wanting him to get comfortable with me and that may take some time ofc

Love the video! But I just wanted to make a suggestion that you remove those two plastic perches in the “isolation cage” I think your budgie care is top notch! And I highly doubt anything would happen to your birds, but last summer I rescued a budgie who only had plastic perches in her cage. To be fair so was also highly neglected but because of the plastic perches her feet became deformed and she now doesn’t grown a couple nails on her feet :( it’s almost been a year and she’s much more better! but I just want to get the information out there to people who do have plastic perches and not natural or wooden perches

Are you sure it's the plastic and not the lack of different size perches? I know Budgie's can get bumble feet if they are consistently perched on the same size perches because it is putting constant pressure on the same points of their feet. I think that's more likely to be the reason why.

@@Katiee0592 plastic perches already have a bad rap so I honestly couldn’t tell you. She’s missing toenails and they haven’t grown back. Her cage was filthy and only had three perches all that were plastic. Either way I think that plastic perches are more of a hazard for your bird then anything because if your going to keep your bird in a cage and not let them out you might as well should make them comfortable with real wood perches then a cheap piece of plastic

hello um I have a question I got a baby budget a few days ago it's not really a baby but it as the white spot in the eye it growed all of its feathers and all my cousins gave it to me as a gift they only had a small cage for it and it's never getting attention by my cousins and all so it's very scared by my hand it dosent know how to fly so its always jumping around the cage and it won't stop shaking if I get near can u give me some tips please? btw I got it a big cage

Hey Alen, I noticed your new female budgie seems to have some anomalies on her cere. She seems to have a swollen cere. Is that normal for a female that’s ready to mate, or could this also be some disease or scar? In general, how do you deal with sick budgies, since you have so many of them, I image you quarantine them while they’re sick to prevent them from infecting each other?
