New build… 1934 Plymouth Coupe 🙌

Bad Chad has been eagerly wanting to start something new so that he can do what he does best... be creative. So we're going to pull in our 1934 (or 1933?) Plymouth Coupe and start making a game plan. We could do this build the traditional way... or step outside of the box and do something that's never been done before. You'll never guess what he wants to do. The coupe is basically just a shell sitting on a chassis. It has no floor, no engine, no rear suspension, no steering, no brakes... so the first step will be getting the body off the chassis so that we can start fabricating a floor 🔨

Most of those "finished cars" are from when he did the Discovery Channel shows, he keeps cutting as cutting keeps the viewing numbers up, which by the way is the motivation for the builds.

Either way, and which ever way he wants to do his cars, it's his choice and vision, when you have an idea its good to work from it, he will eventually get back to them, less hate and more positivity would help greatly !!

the doner roof is a 1967-1969 Triumph GT-6 , it has the defrost vents which rules out 1966. They are hardtop SPITFIRE'S . there is a youtube about taking a tr-5 Triumph and putting a GT-6 roof on it , giving the car at first glance , the James Bond DB-6 look. a tr-6 is the same chassis as a tr-5 [tr-250] Doug's car Chad gave him , is a TR-7 , hope this helps ,LOVE THE SHOW!!!

Hello Chad just a thought on the Hudson belt issue. Why not cut the spout coming from the water pump just above the where the spout from the rad is and then wield a 90 degree on it pointing towards the rad spout and join them with a hose. That should lower it all enough so that you can put the belt on and it not hit the hose.

Jeez lefty, I was giving up on ideas for this build, and was beginning to think it should just get tidied up, maybe with a dropped front, Caddy flathead, otherwise unmolested. Then you come up a genius suggestion !! I have seen similar jobs, and love the idea for this build. Talk about DIFFERENT !!

I don't know but I think it would be cool leave it a 5 window high roof exposed frame raise up with Cadillac flat head or an old desoto hemi engine.. same wheels tire combo patina no hood... pretty much the way it is. Just running and driving

A 1933 Dodge/Plymouth Rat Rod/Hot Rod . Create and install the new floor and let Chad's artistic talent takeover . Sand blast the frame is a good first step in the process.

Please leave the Triumph roof for another European piece of junk. That Coupe body has great lines. If you put a floor in it, I am sure you could sell it and recover your costs if you don’t want to make a gasser or a street rod out of it.

the triumph gt6 was made in Coventry england, they were based on the Spitfire platform, unfortunately they are not European, they are English which I am and we don't consider ourselves European, that's another continent.

That's how most full auto shop's are run they have 3 building's one's for all the tear down mechanical, metal work then the dirty room body work, paint booth, then the clean room where they put it back together room. Or two building's doing everything, but the clean building to put a painted car back together.

i wouldn't chop the roof. It is the signature of the car, it's cool. doing the floor will give you time to make up your mind on the rest of it. Channeling might be what it needs. Do you have the fenders?

Hey Team Hiltz minus 1, how is everybody doing today? Chad it sounds like your opinion is for the most part the same as my opinion! If you remove that roof you will lose the looks of the car. I know it has been done a million times before but, the car screams roof chop! Doug are you ready for another project car that needs everything? It is a nice car! Jolene nice work on the video today! I actually do think an early 30’s car with a heavily chopped fastback style roof all dressed up as a salt flats racer would look cool, but I would probably start with a sedan lol.

High boy and do a tapered chop on the roof, you know take more out of the front than the back to taper it. Don't pitch the windshield back to meet the roof stretch the roof to meet the windshield.

Dunno man, a lotta good cars have been ruined by builders who are trying to be far out and different. Sometimes sticking with a traditional rod building formula will yield the best results. If you want to be completely far out make the whole body like Ed Roth and his fiberglass or Coddington and his Boydster. Lots of people like traditional rods so stick with the traditional rod formula and you will have a marketable car. A traditional rod is not far out but...somebody will always cherish it and want to buy it.
