Put the strongest steering servo you have in there I had a hard time getting a single arneson to tun while under power in the big apache hull. Going to follow this build. SCBG4L
Beautiful ! They're all "fast" but to get it going that much "faster" .. As in a Regular Sized Boat, like mine .. It's all set up , set up, set up , Love your Channel !
There is no doubt that it will be Ironclad! Many years ago, I considered the same drives from MHZ for a build. I bailed on that idea due to $$$ I am sure also that it will be cool when you get ti dialed in. 👍👍🤙
Are the Arneson Drives trimable while under power, or is the trim static and set with a screw adjustment? It would be super cool to be able to trim while under power using a servo, similar to the left/right turning.
It has Turnbuckles that adjust the positive & negative trim, I'm sure the arnson drives can be converted to servo trim adjustable with some cleaver modifications and custom cnc parts.
I only have one tfl boat but it's my best running boat, I really like it. It seems inspector 8 was out to lunch with that boat. You said that you would have bought the full rudder and stingers but this is something different to have fun with and definitely has the wow factor. Go with the SSS motors and the hydras because you know that you'll end up getting them eventually anyway. I can't wait to see it run
Those drives 😍. Seen only one fitted and run with it and asked questions, no answers unfortunately because i like it. Its "clean/realistic" too. Setup wise i would go totally different but is with a risk! Thinking hobbywing 4986
Ah jeez, pushed wrong one... Hobbywing 4990 and x8s hydra. Should give some decent cheap power. Im more thinking, those big gasoline boats mostly don't have extreme power, so maybe this would already be more than enough... These hw should give above 10kw
Just ordered the 56104 1150kv monster 6 pole motors. I'm actually interested in the arnson drive performance, I have been looking for model boat videos online with out much success. Excited to get it on the water.
@@IRONCLADRC Nice B! Looked them motors up, you should be golden i suppose. Those drives, just so nice. My gut says it should work like a charm, since you direct the propulsion, but have to see off course. Maybe there isnt a need for trimtabs and turnfins also... Know there was direct drive outboard and other stuff from MHz, which they dont sell anymore, maybe didn't work, or not enough market for it. Don't know, i would think if you spend lots off money these 200 extra for the drives won't make the difference anymore, but who am i. Can't wait to see it in the water, thats for sure. I'm liking it!
Love it! Will be a mind shift and a learning challenge. That said - the correct pronunciation is “Arna-son”…. Could say sun, but you like son better. Haha. Here’s an old, but good video of what happens. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Of1RY4M8VqM.html
Congrats Big b, That is one SWEEEEEEEEEEEEET Boat for sure. Cant wait to see this on the water. On standby. Thank you Brian, for donating The boat to the channel. BG4L
That’s what I’m talking about, those drives look awesome. Brian hooked you up Big B 👍👍👍. With one boat hull he outdid my whole care package 🤣 WAHOO let’s go!!! I’ll be curious to know the all-up weight when you’re done. BGFL
I don't know if he out did your care package! It's neck and neck! I still have goodies you sent that I haven't used yet, so it's like the gift that keeps giving! I'm excited about the arnson on the tfl boat, should be a fun learning curve
Big B congratulations 🎉🎊🎈 on your new boat and here’s a shoutout to Brian for giving so many of subscribers some eye candy before Halloween 🎃. A 60mm prop is huge ! Don’t worry too much about the out drives being a little loose in their socket on transom because the thrust of the prop will push them forward until you back off the throttle. As far as setting the depth of the prop in the water, the BJ42 is also a “surface prop” running the center line of the prop at about or just below the surface of the water at speed takes advantage of the “air to water surface tension” which creates thrust both going into the water and coming back out, that’s why they throw such a beautiful rooster tail, and it uses far less power than having the prop fully submerged 🧐 Seinfeld once said “The immutable laws of physics” 🤣😂🤣😂
Thank you, I didn't think about the load under power tightening everything up. Yes, that makes perfect sense 👌 that saves me a lot of time with the arneson drives... BG4L
Wow B. This is going to be fun to watch. What a series it will be. Honestly,… that’s the nicest rear end I’ve seen since friends went off the air👍🏽😆 Can’t wait to see all that go into that hull. (Thanks Brian!)
Big B so I contacted hobby wing North America and asked if their G2 series of escs can take the hv lipos and they said yes even if they don’t say hv on them I have the sec 3s lipos and they work no issues cheers buddy!! Boat gang!!
Is that boat 51 inches long considering propulsion parts or the hull is actually 51 inches long!? In any case, it certainly looks like a potentially awesome project! 😁
@@IRONCLADRC WOW! You might need to find a bigger place to test that boat when you have finished preparing it, because even the river might get too small 😅
Arneson surface drives are the real deal in performance boats. Entry level Arneson drive coming in at the low low price of $27,000...and they winder why we dump more money into our rc boats over the others. 😂
Lol, I know that's right, dude I'm excited to get this behemoth on the water and excited to tinker with the arnsons. I bet there's a learning curve with running these arnson over stinger/rudder setups. Got a couple 56104's 1150kv OTW with hydras c'mon!
@@IRONCLADRC can't wait to see that TFL on the water bro! Arneson are what stinger drives are based after. What you have is a scale version of what they really are. For the most part. Just like our stinger drives.. It takes a second to get on plane and but once it's on plane.. My man! We all know how they run when we have our Rudder dialed in. The arneson will run sharper than the stinger & Rudder set up. Meaning.. The slightest movement of the steering. The boat will feel like it's on rails. If I can drop an Arneson #7 in my boat.. I'd do it yesterday. You're talking 4 inch spline gears straight shafted to a motor... BY far the most superior high performance drive you can put in a performance boat. Sorry for the rant 😂
@JANDRMARINE no your good brother, when arnsons came out in the late 70's early 80s they were complete game changers for the cigarette boats and offshore cats, anyone running arnsons were ahead of the rest quite literally Allowed them to run larger props and turn them harder and faster. True surface drives. I feel completely blessed to have the opportunity to run and test this setup.
@@IRONCLADRC that is by far the most generous gift a subscriber has sent you. (in my opinion) On ebay, FB, etc.. People would still pay atleast 1k to get that boat AS IS. I'm Really looking forward to see this thing move and cut through heavy chop. Once you're dialed in.. Let's talk gopro rigging to set up on the back of the hull.. So you can get some really cool footage of the drives. They're set up very close.. The props will look sick AF at full plane.
