Turks conquered and settled in Anatolia a millania ago and they conquered and settled down in Istanbul 571 years ago and since then they are the majority nation living in there, all their country land is one piece and not a thousand miles away from mainland. On the other hand New Caledonia is located a thousand miles away from France and majority non French there. France colonized new caledonia 171 years ago as an overseas colony and not fully integrated New caledonia into france, and now they want to take away the voting right of new caladonian natives away, and claim France is a democracy. If you have any chunk of sense of logic and basic level of evaluation skill you should be able to understand the difference between the conquest and colonization now.

Those territories would be stupid to leave. New Caledonia actually has something is value.

But if you look at the countries mentioned, they're under the commonwealth except America. There's a massive difference between being colonized by the British and the French. Britain has a way better record of respecting the rights of the indigenous people and coming to agreements and making peace. More of a you scratch my back I'll scratch yours relationship but France is just straight up refusing to give in all the time. Imo as a New Zealander looking at now today I'm so glad we were colonized by the British and noone else.
