Nice video and very relatable. Got an Aquablue 997.2 C4 three months ago. Switched from a 993 Targa because I wanted a daily driver less complicated to maintain (and was afraid that the roof may break one day) and as I like to say, I love my 997 as much as I miss my 993. Different experience but same level of pleasure. It just puts a smile on my face whenever I drive it, be it after a long day of work or at sunrise. Nothing compares.

Such a classy spec! A super chill watch. Sorry but I have to correct you - the only difference between hydraulic and electric power steering is that the hydraulic servo pump is run by the drive belt, while the electric is just an electric motor driving the pump. But exactly as you say, that has a big big difference on steering feel. Especially with smaller sport-steeringwheels. So good work!!
I did got mine as well.....get ready for services, petrol, insurance and get some shares from Michelin or continental 👍👍and never forget a fancy noisy exhaust, apart from that congratulations mate
Thanks man! I'm sorry yours has been so difficult. I bought mine with full service, 111 point check and under 50k km so I hope I got a reliable one! And the 997.2 fixes a lot of the mechanical problems of the .1... I've heard. So we'll see. 😉 And no new exhaust, I'm sticking with the one I got for warranty's sake.

@@jerobd1jay261 The IMS bearing problems were only in the 996 and 997.1 (up to 2007) apparently. Everyone I've talked to, and as far as I've googled, has said that Porsche solved this for the 997.2. Part of the reason I wanted one. :) Have you heard otherwise?
@@KyleMeyr it's in part true but as a former owner of a 944 a 928 S4 and 996 twin turbo, porche is my all-time more enjoyable brand no doubt, reliable, yes bit with a proper maintenance, all said this past weekend I supposed to meet a dear friend and enjoy a good road..on a cayman 2009 and guest what happened, ims blown. Changing parts from a expensive car knowing that can give u better performance and what is better, a quite driving, not thinking that there's a slightly change of screwing up....is worth it, if you r going to keep it change what ever takes to fully enjoy it, cheers mate!!👍
I tried a 991.1 recently only base model but was left pretty underwhelmed at the *sound*. It should be the same as the 997.2 in that it's a flat 6 so I am not sure I would be happy with that generation either. Maybe not. I am going to be a little brutal by saying I was bored by the 911. Found the Audi S5 and BMW M440i to be more rowdy and fun in my comparison. Sound is very important to me as a musician. The 911 also wasn't hardly audible at the speeds I was going. Maybe I didn't go full out. Just didn't bring it, IMO. Loved both the Audi and BMW sounds, which were quite loud at side street speeds.
The 911 is a bit of a special taste... Some people want it because everyone else has it and some people want it because of how ridiculous it is as a sports car. For me the key selling points were these: The weight transfer and power out of corners is immense compared to what it should be on paper, the light front end gives an extremely unique experience when you rotate the car and flat 6 is so perfectly low and balanced. That plus n/a engine, etc. etc. The sound is kinda whatever, it does sound great when you hit 7k RPM though. It screams rather than rumbles thanks to flat 6 not having a turbo. But not all boxer engines sound the same, so the 991.1 isn't really the same as the 997.2. If that were the case, then every 911 would sound identical. If you want a car that sounds wild in low revs, there are a million options and you can make your own pretty easily. If you want a car that sounds perfect in high revs, a 911 is tough to beat. :)
