I've been playing Willow mid for a long time. The problem is they don't understand that the power of the hero doesn't require so much farming. Everyone is arguing that you are slow and have to farm forever. But it is just not true. 1 bedlam is enough to kill squishy heroes such as sniper or most supports. Lvl 6 start snowballing and farm between ganks. As soon as you get aghs you are more than strong enough to 5v5. You don't need to sit jungle with midas to get 3 or 4 items before fighting.
Reality is that the hero has a below 50% win rate in all brackets. Even worse if you take it into a core position at low MMR bc your team will most likely lack execution or coordination on bedlam usage. And you can’t jungle if you have a bad lane as back up like most of the meta picks.
And if you’re playing willow mid, you’re either a specialist that has lvl 30 on willow or herald/crusader mmr. If you’re playing at legend-divine level as willow and are not perfect in execution, any self respecting high mmr mid laner will be able to deny half of each wave or harass you out of lane.
This is kind of a horror story. Supports becoming cores is not great, but it's a step towards the right direction: unlocking the full potential of all heros.

I love running into this build at 3.5k mmr when I use to spam Mars. You just buy blademail and sit your bulwark next to the support the willow is trying to burst and redirect her autos into the blademail Mars 😂
Willow doesn't scale well into late game and her "invincibility" combo (waker, octarine) takes a lot of gold to come online. To make this work she has to be stupid accelerated and end the game early. Since she's terrible at farming, this is paradoxical. She will need a lot of help jungling early.
In my experience the core willow build feels good when transitioning from supp to core, in games that go on long enough and/or you're fed enough, but still starting with a more supportish build to sustain all her mana costs. Going for core build ASAP just nerfs your CC supp potential too much, for too long, cause you need both Aghs & a fairly high attack speed to actually come online. That's A LOT of time where you have to play a weaker willow than a pos4 one.
Think speed should point out here what the casters did. This only works in professional games or 5 man team comps/scrims. she farms slow, she is gankable and the timing where she is useful as a carry is luck dependant/ extermely late game. you need a team comp with double to triple frontliners, that are willing to 4 protect 1 until willow has aghs, bkb octarine lvl 20 talent. that is alot of farm for a very slow farming hero. which takes in a good game until 30+ minutes. meanwhile the enemy cores of this patch like spectre or luna, tb can group and push down every tower while your still trying to get octarine. with octarine and a cd recudtion neutral you are strong. but then again if this is played into aoe damage dealers like sandking, earthshaker, kunkka she dies while in shadow realm anyway
Heralds been doing this shit since forever. It's one of the biggest risks and you need either an amazing start or pray that you get to late game with all the items.
aghs rush even on support fuck those whiners its the only way to play her she has so many disables she doesnt even need support items in the early game, can still get them in the mid game after your rampage gold accelerated your income.

Why is this good now? I've been playing this build in turbo for maybe over a year, it's just stupid fun to play (at least in turbo) but what makes this build viable now?
shes too slow to carry imo .. might work in pubs but she require item timings… but when she hit the timings shes nearly unkillable and deals a ton of dmg
Oh this is why I’ve been seeing her a lot in matches as of today. I don’t think this is sustainable. I was able to shit on someone trying to do this as Brood Mama from early game til the end.

the thing about this build is maximizing her 2nd by stacking CD items, the thing pros doing atm is making tons of random shits to her while she needs Octarine to be online faster, especially when she hit lv 20 with another shadow realm talent after 20 she just needs to stand still hit the objective and killing enemies I noticed some pros even making shadow blade to escape, that's most stupid item choice for her like what is Shadow Blade gonna do if the enemy has vision? It is better to have octarine that makes your 2nd downtime only 2 secs at most and an eul just to buy some time for that 2 secs or save ur ass from getting burst after euls they can even upgrade to wind walker that helps her a lot with repositioning My recom items for Willow carry PT> midas > aghs > octarine > bkb/euls > wind walker > (pike / dagger ) conditional > MKB for very late game
