NEW CAT - Bond Meets Marmalade, Jugg and Zig Zag! 

Took around three months for us to get a new rescue cat to accept our sphynx, only to have our precious 10yo sphynx torn from us by cancer on jan 3rd this year. It still feels like having my heart torn through my chest when I think of him. At least he had a cat friend by his side throughout his last December, and he passed away in out arms at the vet.

Yes, so important to take your time with introductions! I used separate rooms and see through fencing for the first week, until the resident cat was begging to meet the newcomer! It's been 7 years now and they have been besotted with each other since then. It's actually hard to get a picture of only one of them, because they are always together. 😍❤

That’s really sweet! I’ve introduced kittens to elder cats a couple times and the kittens just insisted on the large furry people parenting and cuddling them. I know it doesn’t always work out but I’ve been lucky. I’ve also blended households of multiple adult cats twice. In both cases we were able to bring all the cats to neutral ground, a home none of them had lived in long, and no problems. They looked at the giant mess humans make when moving and decided cats needed to stick together 😂

We've never slowly introduced our cats, which is probably why they don't really get along. Every new cat we've gotten has just been sort of thrown into the family, lol.

Yeah that's usually how it goes when you introduce them properly. "Who tf is this?!" Then later "This is my family. It's little, and broken, but still good. Yeah, still good."

We'd seen him climbing fences outside, so we were silly to think the gate would stop him lol

That's what I do, too. 🙃 Seems to work, of course it still takes some time and a lot of patience.

I remember introducing new kitten Jingle to Shadow and Demon (they were both 11 years old at the time). Demon was thrilled from the start - "Hey !! A little guy !! Does he know how to wrestle yet?" Shadow, not so much. He took a while and a few swats, before he really accepted Jingle. But eventually they all got along. Jingle learned to go bounce off Demon when Shadow wasn't in the mood.
