Band of The Coldstream Guards marching up to St. James's Palace.
Band of The Coldstream Guards leading the Old Guard down to Buckingham Palace.

Bands returning to Wellington Barracks after Wet Mount called, the Band of The Welsh Guards striking up with Auld Lang Syne as they enter the Barracks.

Fantastic video MrB! The Band of the Coldstream Guards were certainly busy over the Weekend! I noticed at 16:34 that DM S. Potts did a little wave motion when bringing his right arm up, before initiating the signal to right wheel. Something new to his already Spiffing style! The marches played were, (Band of the Coldstream Guards) 1) 7:47-Scarlet and Gold 2) 10:50-The Great Little Army 3) 14:10-Colchester Castle (Band of the Welsh Guards) 4) 15:26-Machine Gun Guards 5) 19:06-The Guardsman 6) 20:20-Auld Lang Syne I must say it's always lovely hearing the Bands play the wonderful "Auld Lang Syne" but, I'll be honest I always immediately think "Oh Nooo who's leaving/retiring"! There seems to be quite a few musicians moving around to other Bands.

Editional Point of interest! At 20:04 onwards, you can see SDM Gareth Chambers MVO speaking with Drummers from 12 Co. Irish Guards. Looks like he's instructing them on how to set up a Drum Altar for a Drumhead Service.

Thanks for another superb video Mr Baton, and for your efforts getting there despite such uncertain weather. A great shame the rain did its worst and stopped the "second half". Nice little clip of the grey squirrel and woodpigeon amongst the daffodils from about 06:00 - I hope they enjoyed the music!

Well, what a horrible wet soggy day! Yet you still went out and filmed for us so many thanks for that. And the bands still sounded fabulous despite what must be horrible conditions to play in. I wonder how long it takes for the uniforms to dry out after that (& the smell of wet woollen blankets comes to mind😬) Thanks for giving us the illusion of sunshine with the display of daffodils😎

the tour guide did annoy me, I was the only person getting ready to film the guards coming out and he turned up with his tour party and stood virtually next door to me.

Good Morning Mr B! I see the DM's are in State Uniform today if anyone is wondering Why, The 10th March is The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Edward, the Youngest Son of QE2's Birthday. He Turned 60 his year & The King has made him a Knight Commander of The Honourable Order of The Thistle, Scotland's Version of The Chivalric Order of The Garter. All the Late Queens Children & William, Prince of Wales now hold the Order, which is a Gift of the Sovereign. Congratulations Prince Edward & Many Happy Returns! Nice Shots of the Daffodils Mr B, are you trying to remind the Weather its Spring or just us Viewers Lol. Good Grief! You're Muscling in on Attenborough's Turf now, Pelicans last week, now Squirrels & Pigeons this Week! Is there anywhere in the London Parks that has Bluebells? Can't beat a Display of them. The Coldstream Guards look very impressed Marching up to SJP, I see they're still sporting 2 Euphoniums, MikeM14 will be very happy. It has to be said though 2 of them are Far better than 1, in my opinion more than just double the Sound. Good Morning to DS Chusa Siwale, Looking Very Good Sir, with Luck we'll see you in a Brand New Baldric very soon as the Uniforms change to Summer Order in a couple of Weeks. I like the little Refinements you're making to your Style, very nice. Is it just me or has the Coldstream Guards "Jazzed" up "Colchester Castle a bit? One of my favourite Marches & I'm sure there's a few twiddly bits added & it sounds Great! Here comes DM Sam Potts his Energetic Style has put a Smile on my Face already! Very Nice little Tweak to your Direction Signal DM Potts, it certainly adds a bit more Panache to your already Great Style. If you're watching Charlotte, Jonathon Lockwood is playing the Bass Trombone on the end of the First Rank, nearest to the Camera, the 3 Pipes over his Shoulder & the Bigger Bell, the Flared end where the Sound comes out tells you it's a Bass Trombone, if you look at the other Trombones that only have 2 pipes over the Shoulder, they are Alto Trombones & the difference is easy to see. Jonathon Lockwood, like his Brother David in the Irish Guards Band, is a very Good, Strong Trombonist, He now has The Man with the Lungs of Steel title, but David I think, just has the Edge, so He's now The Man with the Lungs of Kevlar, which is Stronger than Steel & much Lighter. Jonathon is so Strong, you could easily think there's 2 Bass Trombones, I've looked, but I can't see another, but I could always be wrong. You can hear the Bass at about 17:20, that deep Growling Notes. " Machine Guards" is an excellent March to hear the Bass Trombone. Interesting, at 20:07 is what looks like a Drum Altar. Then the Welsh Guards playing "Old Lang Syne" on the March. First time I've seen that, Normally they play that Standing Still. I wonder what it's for or Who. Could it Mean the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards are ending their Ceremonial Duty & they're off to Pastures New? A Great Video as always Mr B! Thank You. It doesn't seem as Wet as it's been in the Past when they didn't Call a Wet Mount, but then Videos don't always show the Full Picture. That Boarded up Gate at BP looks a bit Suspect. I wonder if Someone tried to Ram Raid the Palace Lol. Not a Great Morning to be Following a Guard Change, hopefully you didn't get too Wet Filming it. Great Job as Always Mr B, but I'd watch them Squirrels, especially if you had your Nuts in your Pocket! 😳😲😲 I meant your Packet of Peanuts! 🤭🤭

Hi Vicky, thanks for pointing out which is the "brother of the other Lockwood", also on bass trombone. He sounds very impressive as well. Also good to see and hear 2 euphoniums in both the bands, although unfortunately only for the "first half". Just one little correction - the other trombones are Tenor Trombones, not Alto Trombones. Alto Trombones are very much shorter, play in a higher key, and would be most unlikely to be seen in a marching band. Although I've complimented Mr B on the wildlife clip, I actually hate grey squirrels after what they did to my prize sunflower plants a couple of years ago! Someone did ram the palace gates in a vehicle - there was something about it on the national news a couple of days ago.
@vickyRoyalHistory
@vickyRoyalHistory 4 месяца назад
@@MikeM14-40Hi Mike! Thanks for the Correction, I should have said Tenor & you did teach me that too. Perhaps I was thinking Saxophone or even more likely not thinking at all! Yes I agree both David (IG) & Jonathon (WG) are very Impressive on the Bass Trombones, they often cause me to think there's another one in the Band. Their Dad was also a Bass Trombonist in the Welsh Guards, I've never heard him, but it certainly makes me think he Must've been another Strong Player & with their Mum also playing Trombone, it must really be in their Genes. The Euphoniums sound really Good, far better than just 1 & better than twice the Sound of only 1 too. MOTH tells me that they Grey Squirrels are nasty little Sods, another Lot that came "Over There, Over There". I think the Native Red ones are Lovely, even if they can be Mischievous, but they are few & far between now. There were a pair that lived in a Woods at the back of my Sister in laws house, she used to feed them McVities' Digestive Biscuits & then wonder why they helped themselves to the Veggie Garden Lol. I was only Joking about the Palace Gates! 😯 I can only think that whoever Rammed them was no Criminal Mastermind. The Guards who Mount Guard Duty in their Splendid Uniforms are replaced by a more Serious type in Cammo Gear overnight & there's always a Police Presence, You must be mad to try Ramming BP in the Dark, there's no question of whether or not those Rifles are carrying Live Ammunition, they are. The Night Guards don't stand in the Sentry Boxes either, they Patrol. Much safer to try & Ram Raid a Bank & that's not easy. It's a Crazy World we live in at times. Have a Good Week & stay Warm & Dry!

@@vickyRoyalHistory Hi again Vicky, I fully agree with what MOTH says about the squirrels, and am glad you agree that the native Red Squirrels look lovely. Unfortunately the (UK) red squirrels are extinct in most parts of England, largely because of the grey squirrels. Grey squirrels are about twice the weight of red squirrels, they are much more adaptable in what they can eat and digest, and can carry a virus which doesn't affect them but causes red squirrels an extremely unpleasant death. There are millions of grey squirrels, whereas there are very few red squirrels left, which are in remote parts of Scotland, the Lake District, Anglesey, and a couple of other places. I've seen red squirrels in a special sanctuary, but otherwise you won't see them in the south of England. I've also had a squirrel get into my loft (attic), and that can be very dangerous as well as messy, if they start chewing water pipes, electric cables, etc. They are extremely acrobatic, and when you think what they can do to a walnut shell it doesn't bear thinking about what kind of bite they have. Any wild animal can get aggressive if it's cornered, whether intentionally or by accident.

Who ccould telle me...why do they stop at 0'36"?
@vickyRoyalHistory

Hello There. It's not a Normal Thing to Stop like that. Seeing that the Corporal seems to be speaking to them, I would take a Guess that He is Checking on Something, perhaps even Checking on which Guard is taking which Sentry Box. As Rita spotted that the Guards removed their Bayonets before they enter the Box, he may even be reminding them to do that. The fact that they actually stopped though, I would guess he was checking that they hadn't forgotten Something, Maybe the Short Capes they wear when it's raining heavily. Sorry I can't give you a more definitive answer, but I've not seen them Stopping like that before. Usually anything extra that needs to be said, they say when the Guards are given their Orders when they come on Duty at their Post.
@Perseus7567
@Perseus7567 4 месяца назад
They were saluting someone. What the Corporal does, putting his hand palm-flat on the bottom of his weapon system, is how they salute when they are holding their rifle, but not in "present arms". It's common, used all the time whenever an officer walks by, even a Lieutenant can get. That's probably what happened here, an officer probably walked by just off camera somewhere.

@@Perseus7567 Hi Perseus & thanks for the Information. Another new thing Learned today! I'm used to seeing Normal Salutes in these Guard Change Videos, but then I've not seen people with Weapons or Bandsmen Salute before. But anyone else, usually keep moving past & just throw up a hand & Eyes left or right as the pass. I've added it to my "Dummies Guide" Thanks again & Have a Good Week.
