New Charter School Named After Nurse, Mother, and Advocate of Children With Disabilities 

A longtime resident of Palm Beach County, Karen Bodwell is an inspiration and advocate for individuals with disabilities at The Arc of Palm Beach County. Her contributions to the organization, coupled with the growth of The Arc’s programs and its clients, have led to the newly renovated and expanded charter school named in her honor, Bodwell Academy.
Bodwell’s commitment to The Arc of Palm Beach County is deeply rooted in her personal experience. She and her husband are parents to 10 adopted children. Bodwell previously served as the agency nurse for The Arc where she played a crucial part in supporting students and adult clients with unique needs. Now named Bodwell Academy, the remodeled, tuition-free charter school brings together students from Potentials and the Seagull Academy for Independent Living (SAIL) to provide education and life care services to students aged 3 to 22 with disabilities.
