What do you think of CHP’s new siren?

As a retired police officer I urge people to keep in mind that when emergency vehicles pass you with lights and sirens, don't be in a hurry to pull back into traffic, there may be more coming. The video shows just that happening with a couple of police cars having to avoid colliding with vehicles that have driven back into their paths.

I love how they just adopted the generic Whelen siren like everywhere else - even across the pond, London has done the same

Dang! End of an era. Reminds me of municipalities replacing electromechanical public warning sirens with the new electronic sirens. Just not the same.

We always say a prayer for the officer that he'll be safe. EVERY time there's a police siren, we say that.. We are thankful there are those who rush, run to danger, to protect us. Thank you so much

Love the CHP Chargers. As a retired East Coast Officer, all we used were Whelen and I am used to the sound. Like it on the CHP car.

I don’t think people realize which one is the CHP and the siren not on.

Sounds just like our sirens in the UK. If I was not seeing the picture I could believe it was filmed in any British city.

The first batch sound like the old Whelen on our rescue engine, the second batch sound like the Galls on our brush engine and the last batch sound like the old Code 3 on our retired pumper tanker

What changed? Sounds the same. I was waiting for one of the cruisers to have a sign on it that said “I have the new siren” because I sure couldn’t tell the difference between the old and new.

That is the same siren I have been hearing since the 90's on CHP cars. I don't know what I'm missing here? Are you in a different state? It's definitely not the same siren tone used by European police.

Starting in January 2022 all of the railroad companies added a new series of pneumatic siren tones.

Whelen, Federal, and Code 3 all have slightly different wail and yelp sounds.

People often comment on these videos about civilians not yielding the right of way. Yet even when expected, these dark emergency vehicles aren’t obvious right away even with lights on. Something to consider when choosing colors for the vehicles.

Welp time to look for a new legendary police siren. I loved the old chp siren and now they changed it, my interest and love for the chp is fading.

What new siren? That's the standard chp siren for at least the last 12 years the definitely had them for the last few years of the crown vic. Which they stopped making in 2011

I love the siren, I also don’t care about it. It’s literally just a siren and it’s really annoying and a noxious that people are complaining about it. Sure, the OLD CHP siren is a historic EVSS siren and is not made or used anymore. But dude, it’s the future, it’s like saying “Why did the FDNY take the PA300 out of Service” because it’s OLD and it’s now the future where they use an Electric Siren/ EQ2B and a regular Q-siren on their apparatus. I’m not being mean or anything, but man, it’s the future dawg. Some things are lost in the future. Sure, a lot of people will also miss the siren but again, it’s just a siren. (Don’t Send hate comments over this. It would be completely pointless and idiotic)

Now, even though the 2020 models and older on all CHP vehicles still use the classic sound of Satan, all of their new vehicles will use this siren for now on. Probably 10 years from now the classic siren will be phased out almost entirely. Man, that sucks.

Not much diffrence here it the same one boon county has been useing. It still dosent use the direction sires other nations use. But then again you cant really do much with something that works well.
