No auto workout detection, and workout features are not the best
No modern health features like SpO2, ECG, Blood Pressure, High HR alerts, Temp, etc.
No Qi wireless charging
No smart wake (sleep based) alarm
No offline spotify
Why bother with silicone straps? This watch is not a workout watch - just get leather or metal
CONCLUSION:
Fossil Gen 5 is $199 and it is the same watch
This is already outdated hardware
ONLY buy if you love the aesthetic. Otherwise, TicWatch Pro 3 and GW3 are FAR superior, and Fossil Gen 5 is cheaper
If they used the SD4100, I would have said this was the WearOS watch to beat...

From a watch geek, Citizen put the dive watch looking bezel on the watch, which generally lines up aesthetically with either silicone or metal bracelets. And just because it's "silicone", that's not necessarily an indicator of cheap. There are quite a few mechanical watches costing thousands that have rubber/silicone/flouroelastomer straps. You don't see dive watches sold with leather for obvious reasons. This obviously isn't a dive watch, but they look like they're going for that look. Looks like a Citizen Promaster diver. The good thing has a 22mm band, which is very very common for men's watches. You can put anything you want on it. I suspect it would look pretty cool with a sailcloth strap. What I wish they'd done was make that dive watch looking bezel actually functional. Use rotating that instead of or in addition to the crown.

I REALLY like the look of the Fossil Gen 5 "divers style" watch, and this one. It's the battery life which puts me off. Smat watches like this, for me, are years away from being viable.

Been eyeing this for some time as I really like the look. Seems like all the big smartwatches are all bland versions of the curved rectangle-type apple watch. I want something that looks great and is still cool. This went on sale for $325 recently, and just got at Belk using online coupons for $250. Much better price point considering all the older tech and cons listed.

I think it's worth pointing out you are reviewing the device as a tech product that doubles as a watch, which I would agree is undervalued compared to other products. However, if you are reviewing it as a watch from an established watch maker, using quality materials and respected craftsmanship that doubles as a smart device, the price-value proposition could arguably be flipped. It would interesting for you to speak more about the level of detail of the case, the fit, the quality and feel of the strap, plus other traditional criteria that watches are reviewed by.

Does your phone last a week? It's tech. So treat it as such. As as small as the watch is do you really think the battery is going to last if actually use it all day like it's meant to be used? Plug it in when you go to bed like your phone and go about your day when you wake up.

Battery life is not a con. No watch lasts 3 to 4 days if you actually use it. I have a Fenix 6x with very few features and it lasts just a few days. Oh and you trust a spo2 sensor? I can't take this guy typing this as i'm listening. Yea someone wants leather straps when running.

Personally, if the watch lasts through the day, I don't really care how long the battery life is. I'm taking it off and charging it at night anyway. However, this watch is still very overpriced. It looks pretty good, not my style personally, but as a watch guy, I know it's a popular style and a nice looking watch. But it doesn't do anything that other smartwatch can do for half the price. But, it is a Citizen watch, so I already knew that they would overcharge for this watch lol. $400 is exactly what I expected, actually.

My this watch is showing 8 minutes behind the correct time since morning today. I do not know how to correct it. I even restarted it. I am completely perplexed. It is connected to my cellphone also which is showing the correct time. This is a 6-month-old watch.

Still looking for another brand to beat my Samsung (galaxy watch). I go on 3 to 4 days straight on that watch before charging it. It's so responsive and I've got many cool watch faces as well. What I didn't like about it earlier was the the fact that it didn't come with google assistant (since it's not wear os) but I don't even have to worry about that no more since I can install GAssist for the Google assistant. The Menu layout is neater than that of the citizen and not as complicated from that I could see in that video. Oh, what about the rotating bezel, that's one of the coolest thing on a Samsung watch.

It's literally a badge-engineered Fossil Garrett HR. It's literally the exact same watch, just with a different bezel, crown, and buttons. The case is the same, the screen is the same, the hardware is the same, the functionality is the same. It's literally just a rebranded Garrett HR.

I would imagine that the major drawback to any smartwatch, regardless of brand, is that you have to have your cellphone turned on in order for the smartwatch to be able to connect to the internet via the Bluetooth feature. Am I correct in that assumption?

I'm a fan of Citizen watches especially with their Eco-drive line. With poor battery life and lackluster performance, this is just poor execution on Citizen's part. Who ever signed off on this ought to be reassigned.

Man I wish this watch would’ve shipped with the wear 4100. I had this added to my bestbuy cart, and then immediately removed it when I saw it has a 3100. Such an inefficient old chip. The 4100 plus would’ve made this an INSTANT buy, no questions asked. Definitely the best looking watch on the market, but I’m not buying it even at half price, just because of the chip. Citizen really shit the bed there :/ On another note, I absolutely love the look of the silicone straps honestly. I would’ve loved to buy the steel one, and then have the silicone ones when I go to the gym.

I was looking to update my Citizen watch with something more modern. I was really let down after seeing the CZ Smart. I agreed that it's overpriced for not having Qi charging. Citizen came out with a black model that does come with a matching metal band though

All I know is it has the same charger as the Fossil Gen 5, the app on the watch looks identical, the power controls are identical, and the power-on screen looks identical (but with a simple logo replacement)

True. I wore the Suunto 7 surfing a lot this summer and I loved the interface, but the buttons are a bit jammed with sand and salt now. Maybe something without buttons, like the Fitbit Versa 3? You would need to research the resistance ratings first
