I'm happy for you Jackie that you've found a way to enjoy crafting again. Don’t always feel like you have to share your creations with us grains, but of course I, as I'm sure many others will agree, would love to see anything you make. I obviously enjoy your crafting videos, and I loved your last video of paint pouring over those bear figurines with Sika, but remember to create for yourself and not just your followers. If you want to show us your finished sculptures, I would be very interested in seeing that. Also, you should name your skull and little pipe person! You could imagine little personalities for them and naming them might help with that. I remember I painted a paper maché skull when I was like 15 and I called it Isaac and his personality was grumpy. I'm thinking I might upcycle him one day and give him a makeover. Much love to you Jackie. 💖
Oooh this is such a cool project! I love certain elements of steampunk. I think the battery is for the clock (the "gauge-thingy" you were talking about).
This sounds like a really cool project! May I suggest, instead of the brick wallpaper, a wallpaper, which imitates distressed metal, or, a gray brick wall? If you're going to be sitting right next to the wall, a slightly calmer shade (grayish) might be nicer in the long run, and if you add copper and brass stuff, and some plants, in front of the wall, a gray background really makes the warmer tones pop. Gray also looks stunning with the kind of warm dark wood that table of yours is. Also, this is my own neurodivergent problem, but I get distracted by wallpapers with patterns that are too obviously repetitive. I love the idea of the lamps with the humanlike figures, but the lamp with the clock (I bet that battery was for the clock) has two functions, so it's more handy. The scull is also super cool, but not very functional. The idea off adding some moss on it sounds great!
Plus the color of the wall can affect the color of the project being worked on too from the light bouncing off! A more neutral tone would definitely be better.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😁 My steampunk salty self would have brick on the bottom ( like a wall) and the top half a sky scene with those steampunk blimps and dirigibles. Would just open my mind and daydreaming creative thoughts ❤🧠👌🎉 much love!
First Project- build a cool surface table for the sitting lamp. You can build on something to hold tools and brushes you're using for whatever project you're currently working on.
Going with the era steampunk is set in, a Victorian inspired wallpaper would work wonderfully. Maybe something that looks a little distressed. It would be a nice contrast to all the metal tones.
This is so cool! My faves are the clock/lamp and the Eddison. The battery is for the clock. I think the sitting lamp would look great on a small stack of books on a shelf. If there is such a thing as rustic stone wallpaper, that might work as a backdrop. I can't wait to see how you put everything together! xoxo's Sandie
That's the way to go: NO MORE DEADLINEEEEEES. I can see you glowing with excitement as you have worked out the "not-so-secret-ingridient" of joyful crafting. I am so curious what you will make. Go for the slow 😄
Yay bring Jackie back steampunk style! I suggest getting large cardboard and making giant cogs and just painting coppers and browns and sticking them up as background decorations. Thats all I can think of steampunk.
That is so cool!! I love them all! The clock is fantastic! That’s probably what the battery is for 🥰❤️ you need a snacks table to feed Seeka 🤣😂😘😘you sisters are awesome 😎
what about decoration wall stickers of your favorite characters or nature things to brake up the brick if you go that route can't wait to see the creation 😀 😊 😄.
I am so psyched! Steampunk is totally my jam! For DragonCon one year, I steampunked up my electric wheelchair and had dry ice creating “steam”! It was so fun! I have bins and bins of random junk I save to use on Steampunk creations. My suggestion is to start saving things like bottle caps, lids, weird pipes, bits & bobs and then try putting together your own found item sculpture. Some brass colored spray paint turned anything into a random machine part! As for my favorite of your new acquisitions: I love the one with the gauge and the faucet handle! Creating gauges is a lot of fun. I save jar lids and put them inside with a but of acrylic for the glass.
I'm super excited to see how everything comes together! For the wallpaper I like the bricks, just make sure it's more on the dark side so the lamps and skull really pop especially with the lighting. And of the four, my favorite has to be the lamp with the pressure gauge clock. It also looks like you could store shorter tools in the bottom open pipe of the lamp like a shallow cup for items
The one that sits on the edge is my favorite too but maybe instead of sitting on the edge of the desk he could sit on a stack of books on your work station and it would look like he is watching you work. That would be so cute. Like he is your little sculpting buddy, your little companion
Ahhhh I love steampunk stuff!! I can't wait to see what all you end up decorating with! I'm really excited to see your work when you're able to work on schedule that is relaxing for you instead of stressful. I know you've mentioned in some of crafting videos that you felt rushed and I know that feeling isn't great when trying to be creative. Should be so fun! Plus maybe that means we get a wider variety of your interests across the multiple channels??? Yes please! ~Raven
I'm glad you decided to sculpt without the pressure. It takes the fun out of it, deadlines that is. Relax and enjoy the process, no matter how long it takes. Also, love the sitting lamp. It's going to look amazing.
These decorations are amazing and versatile. I have learned today that steam punk objects can be used as a weapon as well. Ofc for self defense 😌. But you put me on to something new 💕
I'm so happy to see you're getting back into crafting. I've seen RU-vid and algorithms destroy too many passionate artists. Do what you need to Jackie, I know I'll support you.
Yayee!!! Steampunk! and going about sculpting at Jackie's pace so she can enjoy, take her time and craft again to her hearts content! So happy to see and look forward to watching this space! BTW, fellow youtuber Alexandra Gater has TONS of ideas for transforming spaces with wallpapers - some even temporary stick on stuff - and she is a fellow Canadian. Highly recommend for creative ideas. Like using a sort of wainscoting below your brick would make the area SO steampunk vibe-like. Yayee!
The battery is for your clock Jackie. So excited for your new space and new excitement and motivation to sculpt., it's amazing when that happens, would love a room, have a work top and loads of boxes! Lol. Can't wait to see your finished decoration x
Love the clock lamp. If you pick brick pattern for your wall you could add a vine growing up the wall on one side or out of cracks in the brick if the wall is destressed Enjoy creating. Blessings.
AHHHHH, steampunk! It's going to look so cool when you have it put together. As for background, distressed/muted/decayed wallpapers may tie it together but it's really personal preference. You could even go for distressed bricks so it's more muted if you enjoy the brick texture.
It's going to look really cool when you get things sorted out! The skull is a type of resin, but I can't remember what kind. It's really common in home décor items. Maybe it's fiberglass resin? But yeah, it's super heavy and breaks the same way a ceramic item might, but it's a plastic type of material. I like the brick wallpaper idea, but you could also get plastic brick façade that's 3D and that would look pretty cool too.
Ohhh those were gorgeous. My favourite was the one you chose actually. It's almost alive isn't it! Talking about sculpting, I have been planning my first ever air dry clay sculpture, just a simple one but oh boy am I ever looking forward to it! My husband will help me with the armature and the stand, and then the rest is up to me, and I simply can't wait! So I can totally sympathise with your excitement. I can't wait to see what you make! It will be super cool Jackie simply coz YOU made it. God bless you and Pat and all of your family.
With what you have shown so far for decorations, I would suggest keeping it simple so that everything stands out. You know how the old houses have that wood paneling that comes half way up the wall? I would suggest getting a wallpaper to do that. And the paint for the rest of the wall...I would suggest either a emerald green, or a terracotta brown. With the green paint, I would say you can have dark brown wood. But the terracotta colour is a rich dark red/brown, so the wood should offset that. I would suggest a driftwood grey wood colour. Steampunk already has a dark colour pallet, you don't want your crafting corner to be too dark. It actually affects your moods & motivation. So brightening it with a brighter accent colour will improve things a lot.
O. M. G!!! I am sooo excited! Steampunk is one of my favourite themes! Just love it so much! Can't wait until it's all set up! 😍 They're all so awesome. I can't pick a favourite, btw.
Scrap-bashing steam-punk sculptures is heaps of fun. Using junk and rubbish I’ve created cameras, radios, lamps and skeletal decorations and am always looking for new challenges. It’s amazing what you can make with random bits and pieces. You should totally make some of your own decor because I’d love to see what your beautiful brain comes up with.
So cool!! Love it all. Wallpaper - what if what if what if… you did the bricks. BUT THEN customized it by adding Ivy, vines, distress some of the bricks, and then have parts with gears on or in the wall, steam punk secret garden vibes
Yay, Jackie! I so happy you are going to craft for yourself. I super excited to see those videos. Cool to see your decorations. I really like the sitting dude (maybe put him sitting on a solid box on the side of your table so he can illuminate from the side?), but the third (last) one is pretty cool too. Looking forward to seeing what else you come up with. The battery that came with the third lamp (the one with the clock) is probably for the clock itself.
They all look awesome, defo take all the time you need to make anything, all pleasure, no pressure in hobbies. I love the black lamp ...gorgeous. great video ...😁👍
With the brick wall paper you could add a panel of tarnish metal with fake studs and rivets. Maybe a design with pipes and clogs on the back wall of your shelves.
Im so excited to see you do a sculpture where you take your time and do everything at your own pace instead of rushing with a deadline. I love the work you do when you rush, so to see your process when you take your time? It’s gonna be amazing! And it’s gonna be more fun knowing you’re not hurting yourself when making content ❤️
Sounds super exciting Jackie, so proud of you, you got there, crafting should be about you and the pleasure you get from the creative process. Trust me I have tried many crafts rushed through them to finish them, at end thinking You could do so much better if you had taken the time. Also found I went away from crafts for a long time before I realized I needed the out let. AWESOME JOB TAKE THE BULL BU THE HORNS AND RID IT.🤩🤩🤩
So awesome Jackie I love it. And it was wonderful seeing you and Sika crafting together having that wonderful sister bond that makes crafting fun. I wish I had a sister to craft with and have the energy and vibe y'all do its amazing
Ya!! 🥰🥰 You will be sculpting in a much more controlled way!! Therapeutic and healthy way for your body! 💖 What about a sponge type painting with bubble wrap? Or some other steam punk stamps? Like a mix of gears and pipes. You could use browns and grays and bronze to get the right feel. It might be fun and not like painting a whole wall in intertwined rainbows! Sponge painting is a lot faster!!👍
Love the style you picked ❤️ Maybe you could get a shelving system that stands on itself instead of hanging from the wall 💡 That way it's more sturdy and you could even sit "bulbie" ons shelf.
The sitting lamp would look really good sitting on a couple of old style books, plus you can actually light up the desk or whatever it's sitting on then.
Love your new lamps, your new area will be cool. I think the battery that came with the cable for your 3rd lamp is for the clock you screwed onto the lamp, I think you called it a gauge.
I think a cement block type brick wallpaper would look cool. It appears textured while still being a solid enough color that gives all the decor room to shine
For starters I hope you feel better! Please don't feel pressured to make things just for us. Take your time and create just cause you like to and if you happen to share with us then we grains appreciate it. As far as the lamps go I like the clock lamp the best. It's really elegant on top of being steampunk. The "gauge thingy" is called a pressure gauge usually. I don't like the sitting one. If it goes at the edge of your desk then the light will be facing away from your work area. So doesn't seem very practical. You might need to put it on a shelf facing the desk maybe? Love what your doing with the steampunk sculpting corner though. Just remember to take care of yourself!
So happy to hear that you are doing well - and doing something just for yourself! We are excited to go on the journey with you. ❤️ Much love, Jackie! 🥰🌹🤗
I love the one with the clock gauge! It’s sooo pretty. Looking forward to you having a nice space and am looking forward to seeing your creative process.
Relatable! I’ve been gradually putting together my crafting area so I can make sculptures and miniatures without taking up the entire dining room table every time. Also so I can have my supplies organized instead of spread all over our fairly small house and never knowing where to find them. It’s been a long process because I have similar health issues to Jackie. But I’m almost there. I’m putting the finishing touches on some wall art for the area (or, I was until I caught another cold that knocked me out for a week) and figuring out a shelf for the cat (in an attempt to keep him from sitting in the middle of my project to see what I’m doing). Soon I’ll be able to finally *use* all my polymer clay, molds, paint, etc. lol
Jackie - did you already decided about desk? Because ikea have desk that changes height and for you it would be awesome, because you could in the middle of sculpting change the height and your position. And if i remember it correctly, it makes a sound that sound like steam puff when it rises or goes down
Jackie, have you ever considered attending a steampunk convention? Perhaps in the NJ area.. perhaps in the month of May? There is a great convention called COGS Expo you should visit. :D Perhaps even participate in a maker's panel and talk about crafting!
@@trixalemote5691 I was at the first two (2018 and 2019, came all the way from Sweden to attend. Best convention, with the best people. It would be a dream to have Jackie attend!
I'm so glad you're doing this and getting back to what you love! I know its gotta be hard, and frustrating to do what you love but feel so rushed and in pain. Even if it's not for a video, LOVE the theme, look pretty kick a§§ lol. Much love and much luck on it all ❤✌🏾🙏🏾
I like clock lamp tool holder an the skull is cool... But really they are all cool. I'd definitely get some cool cool gear wall decor too. An you get like vines with lights an wrap it around them 😍 It's going to look amazing. So happy for you ! 💖
I am so glad /happy/estatic... yep not enough adjetives to describe my joy( hey another one) over the fact you are getting back to crafting. Thank You ! And congrats on finding your happy place hunny. 😁😁 Stay Groovy✌~N~💖
Wow Jackie, these steampunk items are a....maaaaaaaaaaazing 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍looooove them all. I am very curious how your art-place will look when it is ready, looking forward to it
Oh I hope your a sculpting desk is going to have a whole steampunk vibe, that would look incredible. Love the pieces you got. I think the skull is my favourite, but I might change my mind when the lamps are on. 😅
Loved watching your enthusiasm for your new project! It was happy and uplifting, which helped me a lot since I am in the hospital with covid. Your joy brings joy to others, and makes us grains happy. Keep on keeping on with your dreams.🥰
I really enjoyed watching this video and love the pipe people! The sitting pipe person is also my favourite. I look forward to seeing the room when you have it all set up. xXx
