Goals bro! Goals!. I just got an infraction with a 8s setup in it. All spectrum, it's my dream rc and I recently just got it! My buddy has the limitless. I cant wait till we race. These rcs are badass! I want to get the xlx2 and a castle motor!
@@InnovationRC I want to build a 8s kraton like yours. What do you think about MGM controllers drop in for ARRMA cars?? Any insight?? Thx a bunch for the reply I really appreciate it
I came upon your video while looking into the CASTLE 1721-2400Kv motor. I am hardly an expert at RC builds to say the least, but I love doing it. Certainly not a very good RC driver either. I’ve got a few nice builds behind me, a very nice XO1, a fun TALION & my favorite, a LIMITLESS GT using the BITTYDESIGN SEVEN65 body. The LIMITLESS is barely behind me and the new CASTLE 1721 has captured my interest. I’ve only gotten as far as seeing the 101.2 mm motor will not fit in the factory motor position of a LIMITLESS roller. Even if I wanted to rework my XO1, it wouldn’t fit in there either. I realize you guys deal with this issue in most if not all you speed builds. As many videos I’ve watched where the chassis of the RC obviously had to be modified to fit the motor, none of them promoted any understanding to me of how it is accomplished. Are there any videos you could suggest to me that will get me going? Thanks!
Yea lol… it always happens like That lol… got my XLX2 1100 in for my 8s EXB while worrying once I have it, something better will come out but this is for the 30 lbs truck so it’ll be hard to top the 1100 combo. Speed runs is another breed where your constantly replacing parts and testing what’s better. Some setups are written in stone while others will NEVER be perfected bcs technology is ALWAYS on the rise.
That is a great motor dude ....can you please tell me which pinion gear were you using when you passed it with the 6S batery ? Also were can i buy some good fans for this monster ? Not all of them will fit ...which ones would you recomend ? Thanks !
Ooooo…. The top two RU-vid speed runners... What ever happen to Kevin talbot lol? He loves spending money on expensive gear and calls it dirt cheap to piss ppl off lol but his 30hp dual TP motor build kept flying airborne at just 130 mph with all that weight 🤷♂️ same body & wing as the majority use on speed runs… I know a couple wicked channels doing sick builds but… Innovation💪,.. Raz 🏎,.. & Talbot🤪💰 Are the only 3 I know that are trying hard.
I had similar cut outs on my XLX2. Replaced it with a new one, same gearing, and hit a PB of 145mph on the next 8S pass. Sent the bad one back for warranty.
It is not an actual issue with the esc, it is the motor pulling too many amps from the esc, if your car was doing that before it was way overgeared unless you are running over the high 150's.
@@masonkaye5 all I swapped was the XLX2 for a brand new one, same gearing, and picked up 10mph and no cut off. The old one was also showing very strange high RPMs. New one is spot on for a speed calc.
@@jondilly1974 strange, the usual sign of an xlx2 going out is cogging, I have had the best luck with the older xlx 2's not going out, I have only had an xlx fire and an xlx2 that caught fire in the last month that was produced two months ago.
@@masonkaye5 my defective XLX2 is a day 1 unit and has worked well since. New one just came off the assembly line in Sept 2021. No fires yet. But I have cooked a few MMX8S and quite a few motors. 🤣🤘🏻
@@jondilly1974 Whats funny to me is that the only xlx 2 fire I have had was on a drag setup that was only pushing 300 amps when it caught fire and I routinely am running my old xlx2s over 600 amps.
What brand of pinion gear are you using? With the stock motor mount I have to flip the pinion around the other way and that doesn't excite me with how close the grub screws are to the end of the motor shaft. I'm using a Saga customs pinion. Thanks
@@InnovationRC I ended up milling out the inside of the motor mount so the pinion can be flipped back around how a 5mm mod 1 gear would be. Works perfect now
Check the lot number and month made on the auxiliary wire!! The 3 faulty lot batch numbers are easily found online! If it matches any of the 3 numbers, just send it to Castle and they’ll check the busbars.
Very good runs. Just shows how linear your throttle has to be and due mainly to road distance. What if they were to us a 1860kv motor would it work then?
Innovation!!…. How many ppl have asked you about how you tune your calibrations on castle link? Where’s your start percentage? Do you use drag brake? Are you using a custom throttle curve? Do you also use your transmitter calibrations to dial the cars performance in? I’m currently building a second car but with my first XLX2 combo and I haven’t had any hands on yet bcs it’s a lot of work and research.
@@InnovationRC yeah I’m assuming this can will have a more conservative gear ratio. I would even bet that this beast will be setting Phil’s 4s challenge records very soon as well
Hi I'm new to the rc car hobby just 2 months in I have the talion 6s exb I got 74mph with stock electronics I wanna get in the mid 80s to 90s which castel combo would u recommend I'm gonna do speed runs and normally driving barley any bashing thanks for the help
QUESTION: motors like.. CC 1728/2400kv TP 4070cm 2200kv Either motor you SHOULD be able to punch it full throttle from a dead stop with the “correct” low gearing, right?.. If the amp rating on a motor is 4000 constant and 8000 max, and it’s geared to do 100mph on the ground (145 on calculator) then what kind of amps might you see if you PUNCH it from a dead stop? With tire prep or not,.. Theoretical set up, Xlx2-CC 1728/2400kv 8s cnhl gear ratio 46s 26p.. Or can you give a scenario of your own just for a general idea? Apart from gearing which has many variables… How do people know what is the highest and or largest KV motor you can buy and be able to blast it from a dead stop?
Very Interesting? Nice passes as well🏎💨Gonna wait to see where this motor goes? Maybe it's gonna be a "1 and we're done" type motor? As where i can pull 5-6 passes of 130 or better with the 1717 1650kv and pull her in around 160°
The temps on any motor don't really get too bad until you are at the limit of the motor, if you were doing 130's with the 1721 it would be fine for at least a few passes, but like the 162 I did (on a different motor) was over 170 degrees on the outside of the can.
@@masonkaye5 Not necessarily at the motors' limit, there's so many factors in this equation that can cause excessive heat. But the most common is gearing and timing in my experience. High kv, smaller can will pretty much always cause more heat. 1 and done!
@@bigboytoyzrc9258 Gearing determines temperature and a bigger can would reduce heat, but at say 162 mph my very large can motor is at 170 external temperature and I know that the 1721 would be cooler, but that would be mainly due to it being sensored, with it being sensored it is going to run much cooler.
What is the kv limit of a castle creations mamba xlx 2 esc. Because I try to find a combo with the 1721 2400kv motor but all I can find is the 800kv and the 1100kv and with the monster mamba the highest I can find is 1650kv
@@Willrccars I actually believe they were trying to complete warranty transactions and clean up their end b4 another product enters the lot... A scary power product that is. I have to follow NDA protocol as a product tester. However long it takes I must hold off until the company is ready on their end to proceed with launch, or kill a project.
Hopefully ppl listen and don't over gear that motor trying to do insane stuff like run 1:1 gear ratios. Especially with the xlx2 that's a recipe for a fire lipos and all 🔥
@@InnovationRC castle 1415 2400kv motor was one the best motors i ever seen them make but the only problem it came with a 3mm shaft that would brake easily the same said motor was used in the traxxas funny car i would like to see them make the new 3200kv motor in the 1415 can
Did anybody else notice that castle offers no warranty with this motor AND, using it with any of their esc's voids that/those warranties as well? Sick motor nonetheless
I swear in the beginning you sounded and acted caffeinated. Also if castle is going to have a motor like that they should release a speed controller that can handle the increased current flow or something.
You need to gear the motor accordingly to what voltage and what length of road you run on. If you pull the trigger too quick, or, overgear, esc will cutoff. Lowered the gearing and no cutoff afterwords
