Great review by a very knowledgeable person who has worked in some of the best shops in industry for over a decade. Wade is also a very strong paddler and paddle focused which is one of the reason we hope he likes our brand! We appreciate the feedback- two notes of improvement we have made as we are always refining are: -mounting location for the seat strap have been moved so buckle is not at the high point of the seat -after market pad kits will include pads for the foot pockets making for sound reduction and slightly tighter fit
Sure wish I knew this model was coming out before I bought my Ultralight. It sure would fit my needs a lot better for the type waters I float. It is impossible to stay dry in the Ultralight and very limited as to what you can take on trips. The Ultralight needs more rocker to it which would be helpful in staying dry by keeping water from coming over the front of the boat. The boats have a low retail price but by the time you put anything on it the price increases exponentially. Looks like I will be using my new Jackson Coosa more than the Ultralight on the Lower Mountain Fork River.
Yeah I thought the UL was just ok it just didn’t float me that well and I agree it needs more bow rocker and higher weight range that’s why I like the LT for all round use but this CK1 every feature I was needing

Try attaching the seat on the leg More-so and not strap it down but strap it back. Its not really meant to hold the seat down, just as an "ohs*$@" to keep your chair in
Thanks for the review Wade, would you go with a ck1 or a bonafide ex123 for small medium lakes. I like the weight of both of those kayaks and I’m currently stuck to car topping so trying to decide between the two.
@@WadeHarrison awesome thank you for the insight. I live in central Oklahoma so the only river I have near is an extremely slow moving one. I also like the idea of the sup+ you reviewed however its hard to find here. The ex 123 checks a lot of boxes it seems I’ve just never owned a sit inside. Car topping is pretty limiting when you don’t want to throw out your back doing it lol. Thanks again man.
Well it’s not a light kayak that’s for sure my advice is get a kayak cart like the blue dot Outfitters to help get back and forth to the water sit on top kayaks in general are a lot heavier then sit inside
I'm a small dude, but still have dude strength. I've handled a few kayaks (not this specific one) and 60# is not light, but it's lighter than 70 to 85 which is truly an effort. I own a 10 foot, 46# sit inside and the lighter weight sure is nice. It is sooo nice for up to 5 day trips for one person or 2-3 day trips with my 37# dog. For longer trips with my dog, I've accepted that a longer, heavier boat is needed for more room and a higher weight capacity. I can do a 4 day doggy trip, but I leave out the warm coat and the change of clothes to make room for the dog's food and the dog itself. But when I eventually flip, that will be a bad day. It's cold in Montana almost all year round. The 15# difference between 46# and 60# feels more more than 15#. You'll work harder dragging and carrying the CK1 compared to a lighter sit inside, but it depends on how much you want to bring with you. If I didn't do long trips with my dog, I would absolutely stick with what I have. Partly why I like the CK1 is the flatter platform for the dog's comfort.
Looks like a shrunk down crew. $899 the pockets should have been included. Was on $899 LT. Seat riser should be included in price. I just bought a similar sized Plano storage box at home depot for $10.
Yes it does look similar to the crew. And I think the price increase was something last minute when plastic resin cost had been increased through out the paddle sport industry I would agree 799 would have been good price for the CK1 but after some time In this boat and seeing how dam versatile it is I think 899 pretty fair. I agree I run a lot of small Plano boxes myself Thanks for watching
@@WadeHarrison I know resin pricing for PVC fencing has gone up a lot in the last year and getting difficult for the fence companies to get . A lot was coming from Texas so now with the bad weather they had that 2 week period has caused lots of problems and 2 price increases (At least on the fencing side).
