Stephen Philipps I keep using the Tigers as an example of how important the song is to its club. The original Eagles song was amazing; I still sing and play it today. Our new one is beyond embarrassing.

It's honestly embarrassing as a fan when this plays after a win and when we run out onto the ground. I can't imagine how the players feel. Why can't we just have a song with spirit? Clubs that have come into the league after us have got it right. This just made our anthem go from bad to worse.
This is not a club song you sing after a win. If you were trying to be the first club to have a modern twist and culture diversity included in their song, this is not the way to go. This is a bad pop song and by all means post it as support but not as the club's melody. It's embarrassing and it pains me as an eagles supporter.
@@apexcubes7290 How on earth am I being racist? I support Richmond, and they do a magnificent job at spreading indigenous culture, as do every other club in the AFL. The Eagles however were the team that pushed Adam Goodes (An indigenous bloke) the closest to retiring, with that infamous game at Subiaco where the whole stadium started booing if he went anywhere near the ball

Just watched the Eagles crush Collingwood in front of a 50% full house. . .we don't get too many AFL games up here in Canada so I watch when I can. Up here the pro sports are just starting up again and all the stadiums, hockey rinks and ball parks will be empty of fans for the time being. Love your new theme song. . .just learned it on my 12 string :) If we ever make it Down Under our visit will now have to include at least one trip to Optus stadium AND Mineral Resources park :)

I love the added aboriginal influence and the change of words from “won’t die” to “will never die”. Love the words in the verses too but it’s even more passive than previous songs and I would love a song with more oomph and gusto to sing proudly for my club 💙💛

This is brilliant! Love it! Gave me goose bumps. A slight reworking of the old chorus, Two great new verses to welcome in our new era. Easy to scream along to. Can't wait to get into it after the first win! Thanks and Well done Birds Of Tokyo.
From a Lions fan, this new song is catchy... But I still definitely prefer your previous song. The “Hey Eagles” and “We’re flying hiiiiiiiiiiigh” along with the drum work is something I’d love to run out to.
Not a patch on the original. Birds of Tokyo are a vanilla pop/rock band, and they've produced a vanilla pop/rock song. The only blessing is that we won't hear it that often. Hopefully, it goes the way of the ochre guernsey.
They completely missed the point of a theme song. Your fans should be able to sing along to the song and enjoy singing it, this you can't do either. This is what happens when you get a band to do your theme song, it turns into just a song. Really hope they at least change it back to the previous one. It would be better to make a brand new one, one that's like the other footy teams, maybe like the bombers or just revert back to the original Eagles theme song, which I quite like.

Sounds like birds of Tokyo decided to sing the Eagles song as a tribute. That's fine, if that was the case , but it's not. THIS is actually the song 50 thousand people are expected to sing and chant after a victory. What a joke. Could have easily used the same lyrics set to an old school marching band sound , and it would have worked perfectly. (GWS anyone? )
