📝 Have you written a book? My life goal is to be a published author and make a living from writing and I am using this year to gain experience, build up a portfolio and work on a book with my agent. I have just finished the final draft of that book, as you can see in this video. I did self-publish a book about bullying when I was seventeen which is available on Amazon (amzn.to/3mdJKLm), but I'm slightly embarrassed by it now!

I don't have merch in the traditional sense (I can't imagine selling something with my face or name on haha!), but I do have a stationery company where I sell planners for students. Cambridge Latin course is excellent, and so is Lingua Latina per se Illustrata. I started with Wheelock's and found it tough to use on my own, so I am mainly using LL now. I also recommend Latin: an Intensive Course. It gives a comprehensive overview of how the grammar works, which is refreshing. Bona fortuna! By the way, you are driving me nuts by not removing the tags/stickers from your storage containers...!

Getting a new desk is such a huge thing, so happy for you! And let's go with the DIY and second-hand shopping, I like the mix of white and yellow/brown. It actually looks nice. Also, there truly is something about sorting stationary (I could spend days on that). And then afterwards when you use it, the system you created... No explanation for that feeling, honestly 😄

My contemporaries (late fifties to early sixties) find it hilarious that I chill out to your videos. However, they always leave me calmer and happier. So, thank you for producing such trivia in a wonderfully delightful manner. I also can not believe that we have such similar stationery supplies are. Unlike you, I am not tidy, so I bought a desk with a flip-down lid to prevent me piling stuff on top. It worked for a while, and then my ink collection grew, I buy ink on holidays in the same way most people buy souvenirs. But largely, it works. It is against my chimney breast, which next Monday will have a logburner fitted. Now I don't know where to put my desk. Such is the life of a letter writer.

Hi Ruby, how did you make the table top so glossy? Did you put varnish on top of the white paint? I'm painting mine and I used gloss finish but it's still not that shiny/glossy (I'd like for it to be as glossy as your desk to make it easier to clean😊) Thank you!

As much I am happy for you to have a wonderful new desk, I feel slightly worried because what if you are the next Jane Austen and you have removed your original desk, it would be like losing a piece of history. Imagine visiting Jane's house and not having 'that' desk there - her famous small desk! Just kills me to think about it! Please at least store your old desk so people can view it in the future.

Ruby I recently read a new book that I loved and couldn't help but think to myself Ruby would probably love this as well. It's The Little Shop of Found Things by Paula Brackston. it's about a girl who moves to a small town in Wiltshire and opens an antique shop with her mother, and travels to the 17th century through an antique object.

Got to add a recommendation. It's a completely different topic, it's from a young naturalist about how he experiences nature and how it's connected to his mental health. It's called Young Naturalist by Dara McAnulty. It just really makes you love nature even more and focus on recharging in it, and the poetry is thought-provoking. It's just great and beautifully written.

feeling so nostalgic. I started watching you when i was going into my first year of university, and so were you! my degree was five years (I’m finishing next month!) You have no idea how much you’ve shaped my university life. the most influential impact you’ve had on me is teaching me to appreciate the small, simple, little things. As a person with a chronic illness, who used to be able to FILL their days with "productivity" I would really love that new catch phrase. When I first started watching your videos almost a year ago, that outro really threw me off. The more I watched, I could see what you meant by it, just as you explained it here, but I did struggle with it at first. Because I've struggled to not berate myself for not being as productive as I want to be, I couldn't help but feel judgement in that line. And I've learned there is gentleness, grace, and goodness in slowness and I'm learning to find meaning in it rather than searching for an outward productivity that society would prefer me to reach. So thanks for being mindful of it!

I recently acquired the Desk and hutch that had been my dream to own since I was a young girl. My Mother and Father, God rest their Souls, could not at the time afford to provide it for me and they did what they could. I found my antique Henry Link desk and hutch on Etsy😢 writing there and organizing my Journals, books, and stationery items upon it has been the fulfillment of years of yearning. For a writer and and introvert, my desk is where I feel most at-ease and at Peace. Your desk is lovely, Ruby. Thank you for sharing this insight into your utterly inspiring and intriguing world. ✒

It wasn't that good idea to turn the bed away from the wall. The way you have place it now cuts the room into two halves and it makes difficult to access the desk. If you put it back parallel to the longer wall you can bring back the round table that you initially had along with the arm chair. You should also consider to place the computer screen on the window sill in order to free more space on the surface of the desk. The window sill is large enough to place the screen there and the window opens towards the outside so you won't have any problem to open it. That would allow you to add a desk light as well either on the surface of the desk or on the floor at the corner beside the desk preferably with a bright incandescent bulb that is better for reading. Good lighting is a must for those who read as much as you do.

I feel what you really want is a personal office haha. The desk is great though! I suggest an ergonomic chair to go with it 🙂 (don’t get fooled into buying gaming chairs. ergo chairs are always better when compared in the same price range)

The desk looks amazing! A bit of advice: Never wear your hair loose while using powertools, your hair can get stuck in there and pull it out, it can lead to serious injury.

Ruby, be careful about putting your computer at an angle relative to your desk chair! Looking at a screen and typing while twisted off center increases your risk for an ergonomic injury. While I have no idea how much time per week you spend typing, take it from a tech worker who spends 20-30 hours per week coding - you don't want that kind of injury.

I just have to say thank you ruby for rethinking your outro! 💗 Not to say I didn't like it before, I always knew that by saying "productive" you also meant mindful, but I agree that it feels a bit pressured like it's really important to be productive all the time. I just love that you are always so reflective and although you've always said "have a productive week" you now reflected on it again and felt that maybe it wasn't quite the right formulation anymore for what you mean. I have to admit it actually has been a sentence that has slightly bothered me in the past but just you reflecting on it so spontaneously and explaining what you really think is important just made you feel so much more approachable and human in some way. 😊 I hope you get what I mean to say, I kind of feel like it sounds insulting but I really mean it in a positive way! 😂🙈 Love the video by the way! @@RubyGranger8 Yes it is honestly such a great textbook, the longer translation exercises at the end of each chapter are a really good way to get some practice at reading "proper" Latin texts. I would also recommend Wheelock's Latin, it is a really comprehensive guide to anything grammar related. I'm not sure if you can get a free copy online but I do have a pdf version which I could always send to you? Once you've got to grips with some of the grammar I would also recommend getting some Latin texts (some of them can be a bit pricey but the majority come with very helpful commentary notes at the back), one of my personal favourites is Cicero's Select Letters. I hope this is helpful in some way x

at the end of your video you could keep your saying the same but add your definition in white or black so people can read it but your saying stays the same.
