Thanks for your help, i purchased everything in the uk, I checked the dewalt code on one of the plates it says to use, it may be just a Uk thing.

With longer bars for the guide rail adapter, yes, it would work with Festool guide rails. The ones that come with the rail adapter are short enough that the router bit would make contact with the Festool rail.

The power would be on par with the corded model since this tool uses a brushless motor.

I was torn between the Dewalt and Makita 1/4" routers for a while. I've invested heavily in the Makita 18v/36v platforms so the Makita made sense. That said I have had the corded 110v version of the Dewalt for ten Years and it's been brilliant. I run some Dewalt flexvolt kit so I could easily have bought the Dewalt as both the plunge base and fixed bases are compatible between the corded version and the cordless version. In the end I went with the Makita and I have to say it's been a disappointing experience. The amount of slop in the plunge rails is unacceptable, a good 1/16" of a inch. The plunge lock is a small hard bit of plastic and one has to really squeeze down hard on it for it to lock. The depth of plunge adjustment is terrible, it's like it's cross threaded or something plus the micro adjustment is too near the router body. As a consequence I find it nigh impossible to fine tune the dept of plunge. The plate on the fixed base is tiny and their is no micro adjust on the fixed base either. Probably the most dangerous issue I've had is with the collet. You have to squeeze the lock nut to death with both spanners to stop the bit from loosening and slowly drifting out of the collet. I'm going to be buying the Dewalt as soon as i have the cash. It's a far superior router in every respect. I'm basing my opinion on my ten Years experience with the corded model which is basically the same router. Makita made great tools for the most part but there 1/4" cordless router is a dud.

We recommend a minimum of the 5.0Ah 20V MAX battery. A FlexVOLT would also work.

We admittedly have no expertise with the application of engraving stone, but this tool is made for woodworking. Therefore, we cannot recommend it for that application.

Tom, you may find it hard to find a published runtime, especially for this cordless router. The load can vary great depending on the hardness of the wood, type of bit, depth of cut, etc. But, I've read that customers get about 70 minutes of runtime on average with the 5.0ah battery.

Michael, there is a small amount of footage in this video showing the router in action. We had shot some video of it in use but had a technical issue with the camera that caused the footage to be unusable. It operates on par with the corded model, DWP611. Sorry the footage was not available.

Dewalt says it's a brushless motor. Without taking it apart, we have no way to verify, but also have no reason not to believe Dewalt's information is accurate. The "XR" designation on Dewalt's tool denote that the tool is brushless.
