I’m not a trained horseman, but my understanding is that you can tell if the horse is happy by how “enthusiastic” they are; if they aren’t “hesitant” then they’re probably fairly pleased about the situation. 🐴

Ohhh Tim you bring back memories. The standard Disc in Romania is 10,5' for a 2wd 65hp tractor. Those tractors were struggling soo hard to pull that thing. If it was muddy you got stuck all day long, if it was too dry you couldn't get the bolders out. You had to put down manual spike tooth harrows behind. It's so much easier with big hp tractors with awd today, hydraulically folding discs and roller cages. Thanks for the Video!

Thanks for the advice. It seems to do a nice job. My only fear is that it might be holding up the rear gang of the disk...but I don’t think it is. Again, thanks for the feedback!

That 5075 pulls the 8ft disc pretty good. We have an older 14ft john deere disc and used it at a neighbors job discing about 35 acres to plant oats in using an open cab 5075. Pulled it pretty good in some wet ground also. The discs were the big notched one but once we bought it they were barely notched at all. But we disced everything twice on that job and that 5075 pulled it just fine.

Amen and amen. And all the rear weights were needed. Unless you have cement to work on, that's the best you can expect on a dirt lot. Manure holds moisture and the ground just doesn't dry out.

I like that little tuffline disc. We have an older 12ft Tuffline we’ve used on the farm for probably 20 years or more now, there is a bunch of videos on my channel of it being used. Anyway, it lives up to the name, it’s gotta be a tough disc to survive the amount of rock we have here.

I'm not an authority, but I've used discs before and I know it takes a bit of patience and quite a bit of adjusting to get them set right. My friends disc set seemed heavy enough, but we had to lay some railroad ties on top to keep it digging. Oh, and you've got stinky poo too! Yay!

I used a similar disc behing an 8n and the owner had to keep the back set straight, plus lay railroad ties on top to make it go deeper in dry hard soil. It took many passes to get two acres done.

Horses are a ton of work!!!!! I rake hay, I bale hay, I stack hay in the barn. Than I feed the hay to the horses. Than I get to clean up and spread what is left after the horses process the hay. LOL I get to do all this with my New Holland TC24D compact tractor. That is my reward for my daughter wanting to have a horse. Oh ya I have a 4 legged hay processor to. Compact tractors are the Swiss Army knife of the equipment world. They are not the best at any one job but can do almost anything!!!!

You've validated my opinion that vegetable and grain farming is much "cleaner" than farming livestock! I spent a lot of time on farms with livestock as a kid and manure, whether it was from cows, horses, pigs, chickens, goats, or sheep seemed to present the same problems. Add the "mess" from culling calves and veal barns to the waste in the dairy cow barns, and vegetables and grain look even more appealing!

the side to side walking of the disk i bet if you was to dig down in the spots it really walked you would find ground the disk could cut and that was what it was making the disk walk like that
@rayhaselby2081
@rayhaselby2081 4 года назад
I had a disc and even after adding weight I was not satisfied. You're doing this on soft spring soil and I noticed the several passes (some for adjustment). For me it just rode on top of sod. I think a disc is good for plowed ground. That.s when I got a serious tiller. By adjusting the speed of the tractor and depth of the 3 point I can go from deep garden prep to superficial shallow prep (for wild flowers) and in between. After the got the tiller the disc sat and I finally sold it.
@TractorTimewithTim
@TractorTimewithTim 4 года назад
Did you have a 3 point hitch mounted disk? I explained the big difference in weight per blade on a 3 point disk. This disk is cutting pretty well. ...oh, and yes, we use a 3 point tiller extensively. Absolutely LOVE the results.

@@rayhaselby2081 yea, there really is no way to get enough weight on the disk and still be able to pick it up with the 3 point hitch on one of these tiny tractors. So, I am in agreement with you. A 3 point disk on a sub-compact tractor is essentially useless!

Push snow or manure that close to the barn is a good way to blow out a wall whether you made contact with the wall or not. I know you didn't have much room but that material should be pulled away from the wall first. From your video you can see where its happend before.
@mjpopp
@mjpopp 4 года назад
The disk os going to walk side to side. That is just the reality of those little light disc when you want to cut with the aggressive settings. Whatnis happening and you really can not control it is that one side or the other will cut a bit deeper. When it does that it just causes it to walk over. Best thing you could do is add weight to it. The rolling basket is probably hurting you as it is reducing the ground pressure the rear gang.
