DL Forever had some odd transitions but overall the fireworks were perfectly set to score, it had a background story if you will, and it had an original theme song which made a lot to it

Magical was a lot better, I would rather have it back as a temporary offering than this one. The only good thing I would say about the new show is that projections wise is great

Happily Ever After has no story without a theme and jumps around different movies. This show is temp, unlike HEA.

Jason Macias I have to disagree. Happily Ever After is amazing. Yeah it may have no storyline, but do any firework shows? Happily ever after was just so well put together. I loved it.

Jason Macias the HEA is split into a number of acts: Opening, Dreams, journey, Friendship, love, adversity , triumph and finale. The songs are sequenced to fit these themes. This is just pre existing scoring with fandom quotes thrown in The the end of songs, and even the quotes are completely unrelated to the visuals or scoring.

It's simply a "Pixar Greatest Hits" show. There is nothing about it that weaves the stories together, it's simply a temporary, catch it once this summer type show. There's nothing deeper to it. An example of a multifaceted show with substance is "Remember", a literal chronological tour of Disneyland in the sky or "Illuminations" at Epcot, a journey from the big bang to the future of humanity. THOSE are stories. Together Forever is a movie clip to clip show. Nothing bad about it but it's definitely not the deep story you make it out to be, unless we're watching two different things.

Locals will be tired of this by the end of the summer I bet. Disneyland needs a permanent show that will withstand years. That goes for their day parade too.

It’s prob the soundtrack. Pixar doesn’t have too many songs with lyrics, mostly good instrumentals. Disney songs have more memorable songs we can sing along to. And live the magic was the best song ever written for a fireworks show with Disneyland forever! I miss it so much!

I agree, too. I'm not sure if this is really the case, but I feel whoever has been putting the recent firework shows together is more focused on working the fireworks around the projections instead of vice versa. I think what makes previous shows so amazing, especially the 50th's "Dreams Come True" is how spot on the music is with the fireworks. I'm all for innovation and moving forward with technology, but sometimes it goes overboard. A firework show should be enjoyable from all angles of the park (peaking at the drop of Splash Mountain, waiting in line on the terrace roof of Space Mountain) and still be strongly connected with the viewer--with and/or without music. For instance, "Shenandoah" is visually appealing in the 50th show because of the gorgeous firework that shoots across the castle and falls like pixie dust echoing the instruments used, and so on with various examples. Another element of sound design that recent shows seem to lack is overall cohesiveness. Too much jumping with no story. Disneyland Forever, much like this show, is also at fault for this simple problem as well. It's relatively easy to include narrative that displays Disney and Pixar's overall journey in both animation as well as global impact. Everyone knows Pixar and Disney. We love the stories each film offers, but I think as consumers (as people) we further enjoy the stories within the stories; the stories that bind each film together and shows our growth as viewers with their growth as companies. A successful film reaches out and grabs someone by the heartstrings and touches them and that's what makes both companies famous. Empathy. Raw human emotions that we sometimes forget. I'd like to see that same objective come back to the Parks and really leave people feeling touched by Magic. I'm hoping my outlook will change as I visit the Park in May, but so far I've been really disappointed with Disney's approach lately.

maybe you have that impression due to the finale which is extended over time as they launch the big shells in a dosis like and then the fan effect arches spaced in time too. but if you see carefully I would tell there are less roman candles used, no hearts or custom made shells, no fountain 9-lines. For the record, it is barely a couple of minutes longer than Believe There's Magic in The Stars but with just a quarter of the extravaganza the 45th anniversary show had fireworks wise

LMAO HEA is a mess of disney movies with no theme whatsoever.

I seen it live and the transitions were a mess, it was just hit song after hit song. Remember Dreams Come True is the ultimate storytelling firework display made; along with Wishes. This is a temp show and not Disneyland's main display, while HEA is WDW main display that would be used for many years to come and lacks overall storyline for being the main firework spectacular.

This would be unpopular, but this show had no need for a story, just fireworks and light. :)
