my husband and I are researching building an aviary for my cockatoo....I'm thinking the 1" stainless steel mesh would be best for a Moluccan cockatoo, do you agree? also....do you still recommend the galvanized/zinc hardware as I've read that's not safe for parrots. Just gathering info..you aviary is beautiful.
I would definitely recommend 1 inch for a larger cockatoo, smaller spacing like this is fine for my girls but larger birds might get their toes stuck. I personally wouldn't recommend galvanized for the same reasons you mentioned, which I why I went with stainless steel.
