I think why this was released is because the Ronin S is mostly supposed to replace the Ronin M for anyone who is a single man run and gun DSLR shooter and this one is just for smaller mirrorless cameras and a OP phone gimbal at a slightly cheaper price point for it to be more accessible to the masses.

Matti, yes the DJI Ronin SC has the ability do the fleshlight mode and underslung mode out of the box. However your EOS-R setup was too big for the Ronin SC that's why the cradle is too far back and hits the axis.

Yeah nobody mentions that what you just said in any of the videos. I just bought this thing in my Canon EOS R is way too big with anything but a small prime lens. The eyepiece hits the back of the gimbal just like you said. Time to keep shopping

I got my Ronin-S 6 weeks ago, going to see if I can return it because lighter and axis locking is exactly what I wanted but the Zhiyun Weebill Lab didn't work too good with my A6300 for some reason so I returned it and got the Ronin-S.

I've had the Ronin-S for a few months now. Won't be switching as the camera+video mic won't fit on the SC comfortably. I like that the S has some weight capacity left so that the balancing doesn't have to be as precise when i'm swapping lenses. I just can't lose all that functionality for just 750 grams less weight. so I guess that i'll just have to deal with the weight. In your case I woudn't make the swap either. Your set up without a microphone or anything else would be 1455 grams. With the S that would be 3.3 KG and with the SC 2.6. I don't think that will make the difference you are looking for. The most straining thing is the weird angle you have to hold the gimbal, it put's a lot of strain on your back, that doesn't change with the SC. Best solution is would be a gimbal vest, but I have seen cheaper solutions that give you a strap between the controls and the motors.

DJI really listens to customers and cares about the design a lot which is great! This looks to be a fantastic option to pair with most newer DSLR cameras, as long as the lenses you use aren't too big.

Lol the Ronin - SC is great but put an front heavy lens on it and you will run into the trouble that you cannot tilt it properly anymore the back of your camera always touches the back motor...

i used the ronin S with my 6D with battery grip + Small HD focus + heavy f2.8 L lens and nd filters and it managed to keep it stable, but i had to tweak the settings a lot because when it tilts more than about 35 degrees, it loses controll and smashes my camera with its lens against the ronin :/

Hey Matti! I found your channel due to the solo wedding video you made that I absolutely LOVED. I am an aspiring wedding videographer, and I just purchased the Canon 5d Mark IV with the 24-70 lens, and I want to know what you recommend I purchase next! Im debating between getting a monopod and a tripod as well as the glidecam. I know the glidecam is super heavy and takes a while to get used to, so Im worried that will delay my process and stress me out! But, if you were in my shoes, what would you get first, second, and third out of those options? (Tripod, monopod, glidecam) Have my first wedding in November! And filming lots of little videos here and there until then! Keep up the great work!

Which SD card are you using in your Canon eos R? I have problems when I record 4K in the highest bitrate and the videofile is longer then 1' 50''. I get corrupted video files. I use the Sandisk Extrem Pro SDXC U3 (128GB, Class 10). When I record 1080p I have no problems. Can you help me an tell me which SD card is best for the Canon eos R?

Quick question. I shoot with the Canon EOS R like you do and I'm using the 16 to 35. The only small lenses I have or a 35 mm and 85 mm Prime. The problem is that the gimbals not big enough in the eyepiece hits the back of the gimbal so I can only keep the gimbal in the upright position.

Its the lens, the lens is pretty big so it pushes the camera further back when balancing it, thats why it hits the pan axis when trying to engage the under slung mode.

Hi Matt, My rsc 2 reverses often - the camera gets upside down and then very difficult to bring it back - apart from briefcase mode but otherwise when it’s even brought to its home position the camera is still upside down. Is this common? How to correct this.

LITTLE TIP: There is actually a MODE which allow you to have this two modes you mention as a downside (flashlight and under sling mode). You have to only hold the trigger and as you holding then you can move your camera whatever angle you want. I like this gimbal a lot and I have to buy this gimbal for my Sony Alpha a6300. But overall nice sum up Matti, I enjoy this video and your thoughts on this gimbal. Keep going and film more videos like ths. :)

Huge fan of the Ronin-S, so I was quite interested to see what improvements they might have made. I’ve been looking for a light more travel friendly Gimbal, especially as my setup is the Sony a6500 so the Ronin-S is a little overkill at times. Might try it out.

At 1.1 KG is only 40.5% lighter ... That being said let me ask you a question can a gimbal follow something Like a TOY R/C airplane or a bird as it fly's over your head?

Regarding which camera you can use with the Ronin SC, here is my experience: The camera doesn't really matter, what matter is the lens, especially the length of the length, not so much the weight (unless camera plus lens is more than 2KG, which is rare). As a guideline, any DSLR or mirror less is fine if used with a prime lens. Most zooms lenses don't work, even with a light weight camera. As an example: my Nikon D850 (bulky DSLR) works with all my prime lenses (and I own many). My Panny DH4 (light mirror less) doesn't work with the Metabone and the Sigma 16-35
