This was a really helpful, in-depth review of the new DJI RS4 Pro gimbal. The awesome demonstration of all of the features and comparing it to previous models. The improved autofocus tracking with the LiDAR system looks extremely useful. I also liked that the gimbal is compatible with accessories from older models.

This is really cool, great review. When using the tracking, are you to film yourself solo? Are you able to press the button to track you while being infront of the camera? If not, is there an app that allows you to do it? Thanks

Great video man!... but how the hell do you balance that rig, the great joy makes my set up too front heavy. I'm using the komodo x and I have to add weights to the back but still isn't perfectly balanced. Also, how are you attaching the v mount to the side? Cheers man

Awesome video bro. I've used the tracking feature with the RavenEye, on both my new RS4 Pro and older RS3, and it kinda sucks. Not super smooth, and struggles to keep people well centered. This lidar tracking looks so much better. I would appreciate it immensely if you'd do a test on limitations of tracking. Specially at what focal length does it stop tracking. Like if I'm tracking someone far away at 200mm would it still work? It'd make a great short :D

Great, I'm about to purchase the RS4 Pro and additionally the FOCUS PRO Creator for hand-held cameras. I have a question, is it necessary to purchase the RS4 Pro combo that has the Raveneye transmitter? Or does the LiDar do the complete task?

Justin, does the Lidar function 100% properly if it is mounted vertically? I thought it had to remain horizontally mounted even if the camera is in vertical mode? Thanks!

Out of curiosity, have you done a video with on your Komodo buildout with this gimbal? Just got my rs4pro and quickly realized I can’t have a vmount on the back of my camera on this gimbal

Hey. Would a sigma 70-200m and fx30 work on the RS4 gimbal?

i have the sony a7iv with 24-70 2.8. i already have great AF so my question is can i use the lidar system to TRACK Only and still use the AF from my sony?

Please do a Red camera set up video. Not just with the KX but with the OG Komodo like you show here. I’ve got the RS4 Pro and struggle to get a decent set up with the Komodo & larger lenses. My batteries barely clear the gimbal when balanced.

I have the DJI Ronin 4D and am able to use the same tracking without the lidar module. The lidar is only for autofocus, so if you look at the new lidar module that you got, the camera on the left is what is doing the subject tracking and the lidar is only for pulling focus. I would be interested to see the max distance the new module can follow an object with the smaller sensor compared to the full frame sensor of the Ronin 4D. On the 4D I was able to track f-16 and f-35 fighter jets at an airshow for about 2-3 miles before they got lost in the clouds.

If the subject moves out of frame, like a car driving past, is it quick to lock onto the subject again?

Hey Justin, quick question about the DJI Combo Kits you bought. So did you get the DJI RS4 Pro Combo and the LiDAR separately? Did you get any other accessories/kits separate to this? I was going to get the LiDAR with the Pro Grip, so I had that as an option to shoot freehand with the LiDAR on different types of shoot (just saw you explain you lock the gimbal and shoot freehand that way, which is great for events, but maybe not some of the less reactive shoots). But then I saw the Focus Pro Creator kit which combines the LiDAR and Pro Grip kits together. Which had me thinking "Do I need to get the RS4 Pro Combo kit now or just the RS4 Pro kit?" All I can see I would miss out on is the image transmitter (I have a Ninja V, so not sure I would use this??) and the Extended Lower Plate. I am so confused in this DJI labyrinth of accessory combos. Currently talking with DJI support and they aren't understanding. I need some HELP, cheers

not worth the squeeze for a wedding scenario. Modern mirrorless can keep up enough without all this extra gear setup. Also unpopular opinion, the anamorphic doesn't seem as good as the footage of regular lenses.
