Lol I felt your pain in this episode. The rambler doesn't seem like a required addition to the game. Also I like how you keep in all the random bugs, it paints an honest picture of the current state of the game that many other channels try to hide. And just when you think the vids over, the extra credits and outtakes. Loving the format Kav, keep it up! :)
Thank you for your kind words! I know that not everyone has time to play the game and I want more than just hyping up the latest ship to add to the Marketing monster (encouraging everyone to purchase every ship)... I want my channel to be a "warts and all" review, painting a realistic picture of what to expect if players jump back in. As fantastic of a game as I think this is, it's not all sunshine and lollipops I aim to shed some light on the skeletons hidden in the closet. I hope my viewers know what to expect if they come back after a break AND by shining more light on the broken bits, perhaps we can collectively push for a more polished end-product!
This is really the Drake Winnebago/RV for those days you want to camp out for the weekend. Seriously though this is a non essential Starter Ship. However, if all your doing is either box delivery or bunker running, this is not a bad ship to do it in.
It's OK... But they removed cargo space and vehicle carrying space to fill it with non-functioning features and extra gun rack and places to sit down. It's just worse than the base cutter in my opinion.
I like the Rambler but I don’t know why you’d pick the Scout over it (instead of the regular one). This gives me space camper vibes which I’m here for.
The Cutter Ramber's QT fuel tank has been increased to 2950 litres....over the base Cutter's 1950 liters. The extended range will definitely be a bonus in the larger Pyro system. The Cutter is like a camper van, while the Cutter Rambler is like a Winnebego. It's for long distance exploring, not much hauling or combat...just a place you can bed-log in to get around and once the food dispenser starts working that'll be a huge benefit over the base Cutter as well.
According to the shipviewer, which supposedly uses datamined info, the Rambler has the EXACT same fuel amount and flight times as the other 2. My guess is they are going to nerf the other 2 variants, because for a ship that size they got absolutely ridiculous amounts of fuel, but if my guess is correct I don't agree with not communicating it.
Nice little overview ! Straight to the point, love it. I have to agree with you on both the fact that the two extra cutter variants are pretty .. useless addition to the game. At least introduce the scout variant when scanning is actually in the game? And use your modelling team resources on something else instead of these 2 variants? And that the base cutter is the best one. Simply cause as a starter it allows you to also access the (ROC) mining gameplay loop. Something that previously only the nomad as a starter was able to do well. But the nomad is a little bit more expensive than the base cutter is in terms of starting capital. Kinda annoyed by the extra gunrack too actually after last night I tried to fit in my P4/P6 combo in the rack on the A1 Spirit, and was unable to fit the P6. It's a bomber, i.e military role. And you can't even put a P6 rifle in there? And here this cutter is an "explorer" and fits several rifles, and up to a rocket launcher/railgun? Yeah ugh :(
Totally agree. I wish they'd held the cutter scout for when scanning was released and the explorer for when exploring is in, until then they're just not that useful. Don't get me wrong carting around multiple railguns is cool, but doesn't feel very much like a starter ship capability.
I feel like the rambler is for the people that get it. It’s exactly what they wanted, a small RV. When the game is fleshed out, until you run out of fuel, you won’t have to go to any ports or landing pads
You grade it by its suitability as a starter ship for first time players then proceed to complain you can't fit in any ground vehicles which cost almost as much as the game package that player just bought. Not to mention ground vehicles are quite useless right now. Sure, the rambler variant may not be great for everyone but I believe the Cutter chassis is vastly more allrounder than the 100i.
It's fine, I prefer a 100i, but even the 100i isn't the best starter ship, It was more of a take on why?... Why get this over the base cutter? and half your SCU carry capacity and ability to take vehicles etc.?
@@kaventiaplays Because the Rambler has a wonderful RV-feel with a table and a food dispenser, a less dumb orientation of the shower-toilet, an extra seat for a passenger, a suit locker, larger cockpit windows, funny headlights, an extra fuel tank for long journeys through Pyro. Nobody uses ground vehicles because they are without function in SC plus the PTV still fits. And 2 or 4 SCU are completely irrelevant in any case. Not everything is about stats...
At 5:53 you say Cutter Scout is less practical than Base for vehicle hauling. Why? I tested both Scout and Base and found out that the Scout has a longer internal space so e.g. the Dragonfly fitted in Scout, but not in the Base. What did you find out about Scout that made you say that? BTW, I agree that Rambler is bad. But Scout seems good.
Although the Length of the scout is a tiny bit longer it's skinnier and only has 2SCU of cargo capacity, whereas the base Cutter has 4. Also the Base Cutter has a little more internal inventory space. I did a review on the Scout if you want to check it out. They can basically fit the same vehicles though, but dragonfly might only fit in the Scout. everything else is a more comfortable fit in the Base Cutter (it's a bit wider in the back). I hope that helps!
@@kaventiaplays Oh. Well, I'm not totally sure, but I believe I did also compare the width of the cargo space, and they were the same. But if you really tested the width practically, then I'm gonna believe you. Actually, thinking about it, you probably mean the width near the scanner station? If so, it would make sense. Thanks. I feel good about owning the Base now. :D
@@kaventiaplaysthe fact that you also know the scout has a longer yet slightly more narrow cargo area makes you an MVP. And it’s crazy how that space matters. Now I’m subscribing!
@@AngelicStreakthe scout has a ever since slightly more narrow cargo area because of the size 2 components. It makes a difference as in its more difficult to park the Stv and still access your cockpit. I’ve never seen if the mule still fits, but I know the roc won’t fit in the scout, but it will in the base with the ramp down. I havnt been able to test, but I suspect the rambler will allow the roc to fit too
@@asog88 Thanks for the Sub buddy! I do think these little details are important to players especially for new players who are picking their first ships, thank you for being an MVP commenter! Your more than welcome to join my Discord if you like! :)
Why did you decide to reverse the Mule into the Rambler when you would never do it in the base variant because you know that makes it impossible to reach the cockpit? It fits in forwards; the same as the base and scout versions. Yes it is tight and it clips slightly but it fits and does not bounce around on the pad or in flight. You can even fits an X1 in if you park it diagonally. I am not defending it but there is no reason to invent problems. I am thinking that maybe in the future when we are not allowed to fly in armour then maybe it will be useful. It could. Also be used as a budget assault vehicle as three fully armed people could sit on the bed and two seats then you can grab your own armour and weapons (inc two rail guns) and join them. In the base and Scout you will have to keep your armour in boxes and if CIG make unrestrained boxes bounce around you may have to use your cargo grid just for armour to let you exit the ship.
Nothing really new no, I mean an extra weapon rack, "NFD", food dispenser, suit locker... ONLY the weapon rack is functional and it had one of those already!!!
I actually like it, especially for role playing, it has a food station, table, and new top headlights. These along with the bigger fuel capactity works for me over the base cutter. Also i wouldnt use this ship to store a vechicle so that doesnt bother me.
@grayssoncarl5020 They mentioned that the Rambler will have an extra fuel tank (i believe that is what on top of the vechicle). I didnt see them add the stats for that yet but its being advertised as "improved habitation and larger fuel tanks, letting pilots travel further and for longer without heading back to civilization." in their Wrecks to Riches post from 12/14/23.
I do like that they added a jump seat. many single person ships with interiors are sorely lacking the ability to properly carry extra people for short durations.
I saw four/five people in a Cutter Rambler having fun on stream and one could sit on the bed, desk, jump seat & toilet, so I guess it has a purpose. I feel like SC is much more about the friends you make & play it with, than the ships you fly! :)
This is my favourite cutter, but for me, internal living space (which i know is really useless at the moment) is one of my most important factors in ships. Livability is a big thing as i have to be able to imagine being able to live comfortably in my spaceship for long periods of time. So while i know for the more practical people out there this is a downgrade, im happy they added it, and I'll probably make it the only ship for an alt account doing zero to hero.
Honestly if that's exactly what you're after then the Cutter Rambler is a fine starter ship... It's just not my cup of tea. Also consider the GATAC Syulen (6SCU of cargo) more firepower, seat and bed, but a bit strange! :D Just remember if you're starting your first account to use a friend's referral code, (e.g. mine is: STAR-BHQX-ZHGH) when you make your account! As well as getting extra $paceBuck$ (5,000 UEC) you'll also get some armour, weapon and some other bits (Xmas special)! I made a starter ship Tier List around Halloween too if you want some more details on some more ships! (^_^)
I happen to really like the Rambler...better than the others. Actually would never think of getting the base or scout. 2 or 4 SCU...what is the difference? The interior is far superior and the extra fuel allows you to travel further without stopping. I ran bunkers and similar missions and had a lot of fun in it. NO, it is not a fighter. NO, it is not fast, Yes, it is ugly. NO, you can't put anything in it. Who cares, that is why they make bigger ships. You can stuff it with tons of looted gear and such. You can haul a couple buddies around. Like the others, it is handy to run around in. Yes, the living quarters is just for looks, BUT it does add to the submersion factor. I have a Terrapin also and love it, so that says something about me. 🙂
I'm glad you like it! And I've heard it actually had more fuel now, to there is a legitimate (in game funtional) benefit it has over the others now. My frustration is mostly that it's the second Cutter without functionality they released in a row. I get that there are more seats for friends and that's cool as long as you don't mind being a little cramped. The nice thing about this game is the freedom of choice that players have and variety of ships and people's favourites are usually subjective.
i think if star citizen wants to promote the game, they should hide this, and if they want to sell it, they shouldnt sell it next to other ships, but rather next to the dumpster. maybe offer a homeless/hobo section of the game, i'd sell this at 80% off, sure even with lti - because who cares about this lol.
