Perhaps one of the most ambitious War Thunder game modes of all time. Not that I'm bias or anything...

This got recommended to me on the last day of 2019...

This mode is amazing; this is similar to BF1's Operations. I love the intro, a full-on aerial assault to soften up ground forces and emplacements for a landing. Then a slow and steady push with constant teamwork and strategy.

When you fly your plane you should be able to hear Vietcong people screaming things at your planes in war thunder

Couple features I'd like to see: We need some sort of infantry support/fighting roles. Maybe not direct playable infantry right away, but transporting infantry, protecting infantry, assisting, etc (or the opposite of...) Certain tanks should be "line" tanks depending on the battlefield based on BR/Tier; ie Shermans vs Panzers; spawn points are less, and a fixed amount, and have a limited spawn amount based on team tickets. You can upgrade to specific "special" tanks (like a Jumbo or Tiger) you've unlocked/purchased in tech tree, but only after you earn a specific amount of spawn points, and only get a few spawns. A good example of this was Aces High, which is a plane game. You didn't play infantry directly (I have played in a few years) but after the airfield was "raided" by the bombers and fighters, a C-47 transport plane would drop in troops which ran to the control tower to "cap" the airfield. you needed 10 infantry (a full c-47 load) to land on the airfield and make it to the control tower to cap the airfield. A sneaky AA gun could easily take out a few of the paratroopers making the 20-30 minute trip for the C-47 a complete waste. Edit: Also, maybe have player interactive infantry squads, like each player gets a certain # of infantry squads they can move from point to point to do caps. Maybe have bonuses for people who have lesser tanks in their line-up, or people who are lower tier, getting more infantry/cheaper infantry?

I think phly has suggested this before, but like apc escorting or maybe base destruction aren’t that far of a leap off of game modes now yet they would add a ton of replayability and idk it would make it so much more fun

Damn right phly, i find i get kinda worked out of warthunder after a few months of grinding, like i lose steam with the game because it just gets so boring. I might return to the game after a month, maybe a year. Does anyone else get the same deal with warthunder?

Tfw Phly still doesn't know he can mark on the map using ALT and clicking on the minimap to ping a position which is way more efficient, and you can zoom in on the minimap as well for more accurate callouts.

Have a Great vacation Phly, Your content along with others make War thunder 10x more enjoyable to play. On the subject of game modes, it might seem absurd, but they might think there is not enough people to have more game modes and have a decent que time. Already a squad of 4 on certain times will have a very long wait, if half of the people go to a new game mode then it might take 4x as long. This being said, I would love some new game modes. Im hoping they actually make a combined ground air and sea game mode as it seems like it would make sense to combine them all. Might seem simple but there hasn't been much development on the game modes side so can't hope for much. I haven't unlocked a full faction yet, but sometimes I wish there was more things to do than cap zones.

This looks awesome. I love the feeling of actually pushing through the map and breaking defences instead of just running around with your head cut off waiting to die.

I quite playing war thunder because of the lack of game modes. I get burnt out with the same game modes over and over again.

Wow, good work from these 2. Interesting idea, it's like the Rush game mode in Battlefield (with a progression through the map). Also is this mode supposed to work with Spawn points or with infinite spawn ? Some ideas from this could be useful to improve the Breakthrough mode because they're similar, even if this is a more classic attack or defense mode and the fighting areas are smaller.

No new game modes because WarThunder's competitors haven't made any new game modes. Last time I checked World Of Tanks still has the same game modes.

I would KILL for a game mode like this, I love the suggestions that were flowing around too. Well done to you and everyone else behind this.

Some cool ideas there. Things I have thought of that could improve the variety of random battles are for example: Simply mixing up the location of cap zones, not the same constant zones every game. Mixing up spawn zones and direction of play. Different seasons on the same maps, so a map which has lots of tree cover (say Wallonia) might play very differently in winter without so much foliage. Perhaps separate aircraft and tanks, so players either play air cover or play ground forces, this would end revenge bombing and would possibly allow more players to fight in a battle, would also encourage people to take out fighters with a view to playing a CAP role rather than CAS all the time. I like the idea of modes that force players to fight in a more realistic, systematic fashion rather than the headless chicken WOT style free-for-all which occurs sometimes. I've always found the battles where the teams have fought with some kind of structure and broad strategy to be most enjoyable, rather than just trying to rush the cap zones down a single road...

Next D-day the American using LVT spawn on water, and maybe some light crusier as support and CAS plane then german team using strumpamzer &some balance 20mm vehicles for defense fhe beach After the beach its capped by American team Both team gain acces to their loudout like pz.Iv for german team and Sherman for American team After getting enough frag german team gain special acces to spawn as Tiger I/Tiger II for American team they will get Sherman calliope / m26 super pierching for pushing the frontline

*hears intro music” instant flashbacks of the main menu of rising storm 2 also they need to re make this with f4’s and mig 21s now that we pre much have all the Vietnam vehicles

How about an "all-out brawl" game mode where 100+ players advance on real-life size maps in game? maybe 100v100 matches? or 200v200 depending on the map. remake the entire Normandy beach map and have everyone in SHIPS, PLANES, and TANKS just brutally slaughtering each other until someone breaks through enemy lines or if the Germans successfully defend the beach! _Imagine a Night Battle of that size ingame_

Smoking can kill - Challenge: Kill any Tank with a Smoke Shell from a Tank of your Choice (I think Russians have the biggest TNT filler in Smoke Shells)

I just played war thunder and got a BF 109 in my first gameplay

Limited ammo loadouts would work much better if you could change the shell in the breach without having to fire the gun. WoT has had that feature since the beginning. Drives me nuts gaijin has not had that since tanks apha.

Another good idea for a game mode might be "storm Normandy" where one team starts from the sea in boats and the other starts by protecting the beach from attack in boats, tanks and air. As the attacking team captures points new areas open for spawning. As you push onto the beach, tanks can be spawned, then when you push in beyond the beach, air becomes unlocked. Balance can be achieved by limiting vehicle tiers or BR and using spawn points allowing a reset in points when each new section is unlocked. The attackers have more on the initial push while each area unlocked the points become more balanced until they are even. Three or more zones could be used or even use regions like was shared near the beginning of this video. The game is won when the attacking team loses all of its SPs or the defending team is pushed back to the last zone and loses all of its respective SP.

With a map and gamemode like this, there might even be potential for limited naval gameplay, as well. Especially when you have the spawn of air units coming from the ocean; the big guns will be forced to stay out (due to shallow water near the coast), but their job could be to secure air space for incoming planes and helicopters. Hell, you can even have PT boats running around the center of the map in the swampy areas supporting the tanks, and, as before, the big guns job in that case is to ensure naval superiority so that the little guys can get into the center of the map, too. That same sector-based battle system can also be used for naval forces, too; except the navies success and control can also be tied to limiting enemy aircraft spawns.
